wisconsin coverage question

WLS

Does Us Cellular have any coverage or plans to cover Northern Wisconsin up to the Minoqua area? I know there are online coverage maps but they are not always up to date or reflect planned expansions. Some info from a USCC employee would be appreciated.
Thanks

USCC's wisconsin coverage extends a little bit farther north than Stevens Point and Green Bay. as far a "wide area" plans go, the area you're inquiring about isn't covered.

BUT, any of our National plans would cover your area with good reception and no roaming charges. a call to customer service would clear up any confusion. give them a call at
1-888-944-9400 and they can answer any and all of your coverage questions.

Yes that is what I figured after looking at the maps and plans. To get coverage I would have to move up to a national plan. My current plan is 1000 hours for wide area- to get the same hours I would have to pay an extra $10 a month. It's not a great amount but it adds up.
If there is a special promotion/discount on national plans in the future I would be interested but currently I am not of a mind to increase my phone bill.

Do you live north of the coverage area or do you just travel there quite a bit? fortunately if it is the latter all new usc plans include 45 minutes a month of roaming. if it is something like you go deer hunting or something like that you can also add bucketed roaming minutes @ 100min/$10 for a month. Also you can change you r plan whenever you want however it may not be recommended to do frequently to keep your bill easy to read. Like most people on here i have seen say you may want to stop into a local store and see a rep for more details just to see what will best suit your needs.

I don't know how soon USCC plan to build out their 700 band network. I know it'll mean new phones, but they did acquire some 700 band licenses for northern Wisconsin.

As for other licenses available; that's only if Verizon is willing to sell some of their PCS licenses that they're just sitting on, and including Alltel. AT&T holds the 800 band A side for the upper most part of Wisconsin, except for the eastern half of St. Croix County, which Alltel holds that license, and Verizon is so far keeping that license once the merger is complete. The B side is held by a combination of Alltel (soon to be Verizon) & Cellcom. So unless USCC tries to acquire Cellcom, then for the immediate future, USCC won't be covering Northern Wisconsin.
