I live in a rural area of va, and am having HUGE problems with US Cellular. A lot of times, when I am trying to place calls, i get a message "LYN" message that tells me that the call cannot be placed. It doesn't matter if it is to another US Cellular customer, or if it is to another network. Also my girlfriend, who has Verizon, will send me text messages, and it will be two or three hours before I get them. I have had my phone go off in the middle of the night while I am trying to sleep from messages that were sent at 8 or 9 pm that very night. It is very annoying, and happens often enough to be an extreme nuisance. My mother also has this same problem, and she is calling only within the US Cellular network. We both want out of our contracts...

The text message delay is no supprise. This is a known issue between verizon and USC, and has been known for some time now. What kind of phone do you have. Why don't you take it to a tech store or have it sent in for repair. Or if your eligable you get 30 day garuntee/trial on the phone. And as far as etf's go why should you get let out of a contract without one. there is no garuntee that the phone is always going to work. Since your in a rural area I would say usc would be your best bet for service but you can always try a carrier with a 30 day trial and compare.

The txt messaging problem is something i have experienced. i switched to vzw and have had nothing but problems with txting. I called them and put in a trouble ticket and 5 days later they txted me and said they resolved the issue on uscc's end. so the txt problem is on your girlfreinds end. just have her call up and trouble ticket it. As for your problem it would also depend on your phone like DMTY said. WHAT PHONE DO YOU HAVE? if it isn't a motorola or LG that might be a problem as well.and if the service is that bad you can call and see if they will let you out but i doubt any other company will get very good service in the rural area.

I have a motorola red razr. the thing is, i live in a town where verizon works very well. i used to have verizon, and switched when the rest of my family switched because it was cheaper in the long run. Now, i have these issues with phone calls, and the issues with texting. the problem has been reported on my end, but nothing has came about from this. it has been two weeks since i phoned US Cellular concerning the issue. I do not know what else to do. it is more of a burden than anything, and is something that should not be happening as frequently as it does.

I'm sorry you are having difficulty with your service, stressfulpeace. There are a couple things I can suggest to you:

1) Take out the battery from your phone and put it back in. This will make your phone more efficient. It is almost like defragmenting a computer.

2) Press *228, Send on your RAZR. This will update your tower information and may resolve some of your issues.

3) The text messaging issue has been investigated. We found that it is not on US Cellular's end, nor on the part of our intercarrier (the middle man, so to speak, which switches texts from one carrier to another). We found that it is on Verizon's network. It doesn't happen sending from US Cellular to Verizon. Entering a trouble ticket from a customer of Ve...
