Early termination Fees

Greetings All!

I have never really had a problem with US Cellular (well except for that annoying lady in the commercials) however the company I consult for gets major discounts with AT&T. I really cannot pass up getting an AT&T 8525 for cheap and saving money every month on my bill.

I crunched the numbers and can get the same amount of minutes plus a data package for almost $50.00 dollars less each month.

I asked USC about my contract status, and they said I could renew my contract at the end of October. They didn't say it was ending; only I can renew and get a new phone.

I'm guessing that at the end of the month if I say I'd rather end the contract, I'm going to be hit with huge fees. Does anyone have any experience with th...

Hi,

It sounds like at the end of October you are eligible to upgrade to get a great deal on a phone if you decide to resign with us.

If you are eligible at the end of October that probably means you have about 4 months left on your actual contract. We allow our customers to be eligible for new equipment at the 16 month mark so they don't have to wait until their contract ends if they need a new phone. If you decide to leave before you 4 months is up unfortunately you would have to pay $150 to terminate your contract ☚ī¸

I hope this helps!

It does! Thanks a lot. $150.00 is not as bad as I expected (I pay more than that in my monthly bill).

Thanks again.

Please be careful when you mention the early renewal times. Its different in some markets like yours. I am assuming that you are in one St. Louis or Tennessee 3 or one of those newer markets. All the older existing markets renew at 20 months of a 24 month agreement.

Just be cautious about that cause if someone wasn't in the right market it would look bad for you and the company.

Bottom line...if you don't want to renew with US Cellular, it is my understanding you MUST finish out your contract to avoid an ETF, right? If you renew early, you're on the hook again for the duration. Please clarify. Thanks.

First, that must be a great discount from ATT, because even with my company discount, I would be paying $20 more for only comparable service. Your discount must give you a percentage off all services, the one they offer my compay is only 25% off the first line--everything else is regular price.

Second, the ETF is PER LINE, so if you have three or four phones in contract, then you will have to pay upwards of $600 to break them...

Hope this helps.

- $150 per line early term fee.

- Contract end time depends on your market. Some markets, you're elig for equip 20 months into 24 month contract. Other markets it is 18 months into 24 month contract. Call back and confirm.

There is no market where you get equipment after 16 months into a 24 month contract.
