while the promo is ok on its own, the fact it took such a radical departure from the last promo, that
1- its hard to expain
2- the n&W is $5 instead of free
3 the half off is just 3 months instead of 6,,
4verts are hard..

I'm a customer, due for contract renewal, and I think that the old plan (midwest 900+ unlim n/w for $40) is indeed a better deal. People are used to getting more for less, or at least for the same amount of money. Here, USCC took away a useful item (N/W) and asks for more money. So if I want to get any additional benefit, I have to pay extra. This is contrary to paying less for more mantra.

I don't know what's right, maybe their plans were too cheap to begin with here, but I may end up renewing last year's plan.

I'm a customer too -450 minutes unlim N&W for $35 and I was certainly disappointed by the latest promos also. You don't mention though that you are getting free incomming in place of N&W which I think is more usefull. But I think probably we are used to lower than average rates as I checked around and found the other carriers were even more expensive. Still I wish USCC would sweeten the deal on promos. I found out recently that Verizon gives an added discount to current customers on new phones - why doesn't USCC do that?

I don't like the new promo either, if anything the previous promo should have been extended, and CallMe minutes as the optional feature for a price. The pricing on the phones are fine, but yes its taking too long in getting the new phones out, cause they will be pricey. Like most consumers during the holidays, I'm looking for good deals. The feeling with the new promo is that they are getting offered less now (during the holidays) than they were being offered previously. minus N/W, minus 3 months of half-off, I think alot of consumers see it that way if they really don't value incoming. Most shoppers were probably holding off for the Holiday Promo hoping to get more, but just by general perception it just looks like its less. Even so, these ...

Even so, these still are the best deals around - its just during the Holidays, I think most consumers would like to be spoiled even more.

This is what I was trying to say - having one extra service, instead of choosing between the old N/W minutes or new incoming minutes, would have been a plus. Lowering the "half-off" to three months from six just for the holidays is rather off-putting (and when they moved in to chicago two years ago, it was for 12 months!), but sharetalk is free for two months instead. So overall, yeah - still a pretty good deal, but there are no freebees that we are used to.

So you are saying you get half off your bill for three months and free sharetalk for two??
Dammm!
I haven't heard that offer in our area.
You are getting a good deal as I would love to have those sweeteners. I will have to ask why we don't have that in Wi.

Because USCC has been in Wisconsin for ages and the market is nowhere near as competitive. It was a brand-new market, where most people hadn't even heard of US Cellular. they HAD to have an awesome deal to attract people. In Wisconsin they already have an excellent reputation.

It amazes me how people don't think!! Think about this, for $44.95 you get 1000 minutes(only outgoing!) 3000 night and weekend minutes from 7pm to 7am(only outgoing), unlimited incoming calls, AND unlimited mobile to mobile. First off, you have more daytime minutes, because if you had 900 before, now not only do you have 100 more, but any incoming that used to come out of your 900 no longer do!! Plus, if you really think about it, most companies are quick to give you free nights and weekends because the majority of customers do not use as many nights and weekends as they think they do. How many of you talk for hours past midnight EVERYDAY??? 3000 minutes is 50 HOURS OF OUTGOING MINUTES!! Geez...T Mobile only gives you 3000 ANYTIME for $49.9...

I guess those who live and work in the middle of the Midwest Cluster have nothing to complain about, but those who are in the West where USCC's markets are all rural (with the exception of the Yakima, Richland and Medford markets which the largest one is about 300,000 pops) Rural people often travel. Oregonians go to Portland, Salem and Eugene. People in Longview, WA go to Portland and people in Chehalis and Aberdeen, WA go to Olympia and Tacoma. Northern Californians go to Redding and Sacramento.
In order to sell these local plans to someone you must make sure they don't go to one of the neighboring metros. If they do and make calls , then they pay roaming. All of the competitors except RCC operate their own networks in these metros. Now i...

True...if tmobile had even half of the coverage area that USC did then I would switch but since they don't I'm not buyin it, that and we don't even have tmobile in this state, we have "Iwireless" which is the biggest piece of crap and waste of time ever, none of tmobiles services work on it since it's not data ready.

Oh and to the verizon dude, open your eyes, look at how big US Cellular is and Verizon, hmmm it's a no brainer that vzw would put up more towers than usc since they are 10 times the size of them! The fact that people even consider usc as being better is due to many aspects, USC tests their phones before releasing them, vzw does but releases them will many bugs still. USC has the highest customer retention rate of any cell p...

Well said. I am a loyal VZW user and go back to the Ameritech Cellular days. Great service and no complaints, but a plan like this is very enticing and finally eliminates any reason not to switch. The pricing is so far below anything comparable at VZW that I finally might make the move. USCC has solid service in the Chicago area and when I do travel, its likely I'll be using a Verizon tower/network.

Plus, USCC has the v810 (like the v810 I have with Verizon software). 😁

I can flat out tell you the coverage is not suspect where I travel. Its been as good as Verizon if not better. Just my experience. I can be a tough customer and USCC's network in Chicago is very good.

I've got a brother who lives outside Lafayette. He's on Verizon. Don't think he has a roaming problem, but cell service is iffy at best for most carriers there.
