This is the money that was used to bail out the financial sector and it picked up debt for verizon twice totaling 1.5 billion wtf. 👿

I'm not going to defend Verizon Communications getting bailed out by the government. They're one of many corporations that did it. I think that some of them even felt that if they didn't take the deal, they might have problems later on when the offer is no longer available. The problem is, the government did this, and big corporations did this.

However, I do have to point out two things.

Verizon Communications is part-owner of privately help Verizon Wireless, which has NOT had the same financial woes, cost saving measures, and mass layoffs that Verizon Communications has had. Saying the government "picked up debt for Verizon twice totaling 1.5 billion wtf" has little to do with Verizon Wireless itself. You're talking about a landl...

You're talking about a landline company who has no representation on this site.

I'm glad you feel that way. Same to be said about Sprint and Clear. But that doesn't stop the media and perception of the 2 companies to go had in hand. That said the financial situation of Sprint has been the bases of lack of funding and ultimate failure of clear on multiple areas of discussion, all...

Verizon Communications is an American company, they recieved the bailout.

Verizon wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications and England's Vodaphone.

Vodaphone would recieved nothing because they have no stake in Verizon Communications, only Verizon Wireless.

Verizon communications and verizon wireless are more like siblings brother and sister and should be the first to help the other out in need of bail out not the federal government! Its OK for verizon to receive money when clearly they have it and but let Sprint or Clear receive any type of gov funding and I bet the verizon, att, and tmobile fanboys would be in outrage or in tears😢 ! The worst part about is Verizon is not an American own company so wtf should our Countries money go to them? Especially when clearly they already have it! 🤨

First, Verizon Wireless is a very different business than Verizon Communications. Landline companies don't compete in the real world. They are force...

Like I said in the beginning, I won't defend them. Like the original article you linked to, I have no idea why Verizon Communications accepted $1.5 billion. It seemed the journalist couldn't find the exact reasoning, either, aside from Verizon Communications being unable to guarantee a line of credit for something.

If the Washington Post would be good enough to dig up the reason for it, I could comment more than speculation (the government not wanting a landline to go black). The rest of my comment still stands - Verizon Communications likely wouldn't even be able to funnel money from a private joint-venture that operates in an entirely different way than their own business.

I can't tell you what the money was for, just as much a...
