Hello all...I'm going to buy one of the above phones to upgrade from my i530. I don't care if it has a camera or not and screen size really doesn't matter to me either. (Just having a color screen at all would be nice!) I thought I would see if there is anyone who has used either of these phones and noticed any difference in reception, since the only real difference is that the i850 has a camera. If there is a difference, I'm going to get the one that's better. I bought an i730 not long ago to replace my i530. Well, I had reception problems with that i730 from day one, and recently, the PTT button stopped working. That phone is a real piece... what is the approx. range of a nextel tower

i just had a cust tell me that he gets a perfect signal from his nextel phone while working on an offshore oil rig that is over 100 miles out in the gulf of mexico

is this possible, is there some kinda tower on the rig

Why is it that when I call customer service on 3 different occasions and asked the same question I received 3 different answers? One of them didn't even answer the question, just transfered me to someone that wasn't there. What type of traing does Sprint/Nextel employees go through? Why can't I get the same answer?

I’m hoping someone can come up with a solution to this problem. I recently had a problem with my Motorola Hard Install Car Kit Cradle. Whenever I attach my i860 to the cradle I hear a pulsing sound coming from the speaker for the car kit. When I disconnect it there’s no problem. I tried using different i860s and still have the same problem. I checked the fuses to see if it’s a power problem and they are ok. The reception is fine coming from the antenna. I also checked the pins on the cradle and contacts on the phone cleaning it with an alcohol swab. I’m thinking it has something to do with the cradle. Any ideas or suggestions would be grateful.

I live on the "fringe" of Nextel service area and my i830 😡 really is horrible with 1 or no bars and lots of dropped calls.

Can somebody direct me to a source that evaluates and "rates" best iDEN phones for reception ? I am not worried about the bells and features .. but I need to do something to get better reception. Thanks in advance.

I just finished a conversation with (count 'em) five people at Sprint that insisted that the 14-day free trial period for Nextel only applies to the phone itself. It was like Alice Through the Looking Glass! Even though I returned the phone in 11 days, they said that because I had used minutes, I owed them for the plan. That revelation only came after I got a dunning notice for the bill I of course never thought I needed to pay and just "crossed in the mail" during the trial period. Oh, by the way I was supposed to know to call Nextel and cancel the plan after I left the store.

Since I have done trials with T-mobile, Cingular, and Verizon over the years, and NOBODY ever even hinted that the minutes used during the trial period were billa...

The i580 is on Nextel's website, in case you all haven't already noticed. Very expensive, but still awesome...I want one.

When will it be released?

Is it just me, or has there been very few new releases from nextel? Now i know nextel and sprint merged... but it seems like sprint is launching new phones almost every month, but nextel is not releasing anything? Does this mean maybe nextel and the Iden network are on the way out, or do you think maybe its the "calm before the storm" ... maybe nextel is working on releasing some amazing new technology? Because not only has nextel not realeased a whole lot lately, but what they have released is not very "advanced" compared to what all of the other phone companies have put out there. I'm just wondering what you people who (like me) are obsessed with phone technology.

Since about September 2005 I have been experiencing a lot of "digital slurring" on Nextel's network during cellphone calls. Mostly during peak times, both I and the person I'm calling sound like a combination of slightly drunk and slightly cyborg, also voices sound a little fuzzy. This happens when my i560 has full, steady signal, and it has happened to me in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida and Indiana. It can happen when I am calling another cellphone or calling a landline.
In response to complaints on Nextel's webpage for reporting network issues, Nextel engineers have assured me that this is caused by a "known bug" in Motorola's iDEN code during a recent "upgrade" release to increase network capacity (some upgrade!), and that the bug...

Well, I see that as of today, the i710 is no longer for sale on Nextel.com. Probably replaced by the "new" i670. Personally, I really liked the first Falcon line (i530/i710/i730). I just think the old design was better, but the new design is nice too (i560/i760/i850).

i have a question for anyone who's an expert on nextel's iden technology and kodiak rtx,

how exactly does PTT work on iden and kodiak rtx, and which one is faster, im aware that ampd, and cingular(which i have), uses kodiak rtx,

im just curious about the technology(PTT) and how did cingular integrate kodiak rtx on to their network,

and if you have any experiences or opinions, that will be cool,

im in a learning mood and im bored 🤣

i hope cingular's ptt get as popular as nextel's, cingular needs to push more phones out with ptt and the manufacturers need to make it standard on their phones,

only if people realize that ptt is more convient and cheaper than text messaging(which i do a lot)

I was wondering if anyone on here knows the name of the ringtone converting software for nextel phones except for the webjal, and myjal programs because they are all I seem to be seeing if anyone knows any please let me know thank you!!!

Does anyone have FOR SURE dates on when the i670 and i580 will be released? I've heard a whole variety, and obviously, not all of them are right.....
