AMP'd T-Mobile rumor...(no not a merger)

So, yesterday as I was having my Verizon phone looked at by a technician I had some time to kill (45 minutes) so I decided to take a walk in the mall and look at the competition, i.e. cingular and T-mobile, both of which I am interested in joining for reasons I will not go into at this point. However, the lady at the T-mobile kiosk and I got into a lengthy discussion, it began discussing things that T-mobile and cingular customers can do with their phones, i.e. unlocking them to gain more features (can't do that with Verizon) and then about the advantages of traveling abroad and still being on the network, ultimately we came to the issue of buying out contracts. I was mentioning how it would be a good policy for T-mobile to do such things in...

Amp'd Does Need Some Improvements

Amp'd is very cool, and is on the best network (Verizon), but it is lacking a few things. Hopefully this is 'cus of the 'soft launch', an' will be rectified soon:

1) The lack of pre-pay is an obvious no-no. Amp'd is obviously aimed directly at teens an' college students, yet its all contract? And 2-YEAR contracts still? Give us a break. Get serious, get some prepay to go along with the contracts.

2) Obviously they need more phones. Kyocera Jet looks neat, but Amp'd needs at least 10-12 cool phones, in various price ranges. Even Virgin offers 10 phones, an' they aren't half as cool as they think they are.

3) The 'no overage' mobile-to-mobile minutes gimmick is lame. Maybe on prepay it'd be acceptable, but on contract it should be un...

New Offers on Wirefly

Wirefly.com now offers Amp'd. SO for anyone thinking of switching, the prices of the phones right now are as follows:
The Jet or Angel is $29.99 today, no rebates.
The Hollywood is $99.99 today, $49.99 after mail in rebates.

The plans are pretty good, starting at 500 minutes for $30 a month, up to the $150 unlimited plan. To any of the plans you can add unlimited nights for $7 a month. Ulimited text is $10, unlimited video & texting is $15. Unlimited push-to-talk is $15 a month, or a dollar a day if you go pay-per-use. Amp'd Tv or radio is $10 too. The plans could be a little better.

Im thinking of switching, I love the angel phone myself. IF anyone sees a better offer, let me know as I am seriously considering switching. I know on ...

Hollywood Help?

I've had my phone for 3 days now and I've had a few minor problems. I'm wondering if anyone out there could give me some insite.

1) I don't have unlimited data pkg; so when i get on live, theres no way to log off live you turn the phone off. If not, it just eats up data time without you knowing.

2)my phone didnt come with any of the preloads out the package, but the next day, they showed up on amp'd purchases; but only the wallpaper and ringtone.

3)Not only did I not recieve my song/mp3, I can't download them off the phone or my CPU.

4)files from site don't push over to phone

5)phone doesn't connect to CPU/cant get my files from my CPU to phone/card(128mb)(no bluetooth)

If anyone has any input, please reply or IM on yahoo(j...

Don't do it!

I took the plunge and signed up. What a mistake.

Their video content is 99% pay per view, totally uncompetetive with the rest of the market.

I was lied to about one of the key features of the phone.

No problem (i thought) I will just use the 14 day cancellation policy and move on to Sprint.

It's been over a month and they won't return my $$ for the phones. Dozens of empty promises of a returned call withing 24hrs. "Oh no problem sir we'll credit your card back right away" I'd be rich if I had a dollar for every time i've heard that! They won't even give me an address to ship the phones back!

They are either crooks or terrible business men.

PREPAID

Amp'd's target audiance is the the broke 15-30 year old group of people, yet there is no prepaid? Anyone have any idea when, or even if, Amp'd plans to offer prepaid services? Terrible business plan if all they plan to offer is post-paid phones to a group of people who haven't built up any credit.

E816 Hollywood/AMPD Review

I received the Hollywood about a week ago and it’s been great so far. I got the Overload package($20/mo), 50 texts ($5/mo.), and a $50 rebate for the phone. I also picked up a Scala-500 Bluetooth headset (from a friend).

The phone is larger than my old one (Sprint Sanyo 8200), but thinner so it’s not too bad. Wish it had an antenna stub instead of the pull-out, but signal strength rarely changes with it in or out. Sound quality has been excellent despite readings of only 1 signal bar in some places (my office) while using the handset, bluetooth or the speakerphone. Nobody has even been able to tell I’m on the speakerphone yet, which surprises me. Coverage seems fine, but I’ve only tested it in the Seattle area . . .

Most videos...

Finally made the change.

After years and years with the GSM carriers, I finally gave in to America's more popular technology, CDMA. So far I'm loving it. If my AT&T Wireless was still around, I'd still be a loyal customer. I've had it with Cingular & T-Mobile. I've had amp'd for about 5 days now and I'm loving it. I ordered their latest and greatest, the Moto Hollywood. Being a serious Moto fan, I am absolutely loving this awesome phone. I'm absolutely loving the coverage. I even get a signal as the Metro travels through the tunnels underground. Since I have the ultimate phone, I figured I can't use it without an ultimate plan, and that I got too. I couldn't resist unlimited anytime minutes and data transfers! So far, its working out so well, I have only ...

Please help a noob

So... i read the boards and a lot of people said that Amp'd mobile's prices were way too high. i've never had a cell phone before, but from the research i tried to do, it seems like $39 a month for 450 minutes, unlimited nights & weekends, and unlimited texting (that was $10 extra) isnt a bad deal, is it? and $99 for a phone? i dont know, it doesnt seem too bad. i just came hear because im 17 and, like they were geared to, the commercials attracted me to this phone. but since i've never had a phone before, could someone either convince me to get this one or point out a good deal for me?

P.S. i like how many games it looks they have for this one, and the fact that you can watch the daily show and stuff like that, but maybe theres one...

Amp'd, "So far, NOT good"

👿

Looked at the rate plans online....they seem to only have post paid, b/c i went in and did like i was going to order a phone...picked the plan, etc and at the end it had credit check info...thought they were gonna do prepaid too? The M2M is absolutley stupid....you are charged for calls to other users until u run out of minuts then m2m minutes apply....very very dumb. Ptt .99 a day or 19.99 for unlimited....wayyyy to pricey. The minute prices are good however. Data for the first 3 months is unlimited....i wonder how much it will be there after. I think amp'd mobile is crap already!!

Amp'd now allows anyone to get a phone

I tried to get amp'd but did not pass teh credit check, and at first they had no deposit program. i got an e-mail about a week ago telling me I could still get amp'd so I called teh CC number, and Amp'd now lets ppl who cannot pass the credit check pay a $150 deposit, alot cheaper than that $400 deposit of Verizon LOL. Just wanted to let ppl know.

Question and Answer

Seen some questions and concerns on here, which I easily found all the answers too, I just simply called there customer care number:

1-866-811-0091 then hit #1 (one) three times in a row. This takes you directly to a cutomer care agent, and its usually really quick since they are a new wireless carrier.

1.) I cancelled with AMPD in my 30 day trial period, and its taking forever for me to recieve my $$$$.

A.) Currently AMPD does not have an RMA system, a return system, so instead of it taking 4-8 weeks to get your refunds, it is taking where abouts of 10-14 weeks, but customers are still getting there money back.

2.) When will the HollyWood come out?

A.) The HollyWood is scheduled for release this first quarter, hopeful...
