Does anyone else think it an odd place to put the camera right next to the earpiece? But looking at it I've also noticed that if they put the camera on the back it'd be face down on whatever surface you chose to put the phone on while texting.

I'm pretty sure they put the camera there because you can use it while the phone is open as well as closed.
Also most people text with the thumbs so to hold the phone open and text with the thumbs is not hard, so you wouldn't need to set the phone down on any surface to text. which is i would guess what moto was thinking. 😁
