I don't think this is a fail

Maybe I'm just drinking the kool-aid.

Maybe not.

But I think Apple's focus is right on with this new phone.

Better battery life
-I don't care how fast your phone is, how fast the internet is, or how big of a screen it has. If the battery is dead, good luck getting it to do anything useful.

Cloud functionality
-did anyone notice they modified iCloud? It will be STREAMING your music now, all of it. You can save it onto your phone or you can just listen when and where you want. On top of that, all of your documents, calendars, contacts etc... will be saved and automatically synced between devices.

Siri
-Comparable to Google voice in a couple of ways, until you realize it can set your alarm for you, check the weather for yo...

I really enjoy the intelligent conversation here sometimes.

Unless your bashing Apple, we should all keep our thoughts to ourselves right?

According to Apple zealots, unless we are uncritically praising everything Apple says and does then we are 'Apple haters' and 'bashers'....

Isn't there any middle ground between 'Apple is perfect and infallible' and 'I hate Apple and want everybody who uses their products dead'?

According to Apple zealots, there isn't.

You just got done describing the people criticizing Apple as 'Apple bashers' (go back and read your own post, that is what you said)

The assumption behind the 'Apple bashers' comment is that there is simply no legitimate basis for ever criticizing Apple, therefore they must be 'bashers'

And now you've gone even further and labeled someone a 'troll' simply for expressing an opinion contrary to your own....

Which only confirms my point....

I said that in response to someone who started calling me names because of my post.

Correct me if I'm wrong, and honestly I'm sorry for the confusion but, aren't we agreeing on this point but from two different angles?

Your trying to have an intelligent conversation with someone that is very close minded and ignorant. He simply says he isnt interested in it so it was a smart move for apple and no one else cares about those features. He has a Kool-Aid overdose!!!

I will agree with this.
PROS:
-Battery Life
-Camera *
-HSPA+ **
-Siri
-Dual Core Processer
-Icloud ***

And disagree on a few things as well:

- *Camera: Good camera, 8Mp 1080P, but it still has a LED flash, I was halfway expecting Apple to show off a Xenon bulb in this phone, That would improve the quality of the pictures tremendously.

- **HSPA+: I'm not sure why Apple created the phone to run at 14.4Mbs over HSPA+, when the HSPA+ network is capable of 21Mbs, which is what most HSPA+ phones run on.

- *** Icloud: Great concept, my only problem with that would be people like me would just store videos and music on it. With storing it on the cloud though, then I have to use my data to watch said video or listen to said song, ...

Why does someone have to be a fan boy because they like a phone? I think the I4s is silly but some consumers will love it. I agree with many peoples posts about if the phone is dead its only a paper weight I can say that I have had all the new 4g crap devices and I am not impressed at all with the battery life. Just because it is fast people are bragging but when the fact still remains you can't keep a charge on any 4g device. So say what you want comments like this that I keep reading is 100% bs trolling and means more than likely you need to get off the computer and actually have a life.

Charging your phone through out the day is not a big deal....When your not using it throw it on the charger....In a case where that is a big deal the I-Phone may just be for you. So to say "what good is a 4G phone if its dead" is really just a silly remark...

It's not a "silly remark" its true... What good would a car be if it got 1mpg and only had a 10 gallon tank? ... You can't always "throw it on a charger." Sometimes you can't at work, or school, or when you're traveling, or other various situations...

Amen to that and plus why should I have to charge my phone all the time we are in the most inovative times here so what is the problem with this picture. To me I see a big law suit coming if they don't get this under control and to me it's a pretty reasonable suit because the carrier is giving it's customer great false hope!! It's pretty crazy to except less than quality service when you are paying lot's of $$ each month. But I guess that is why the people are not complaining because they pay that bill with that welfare check each month.

Thats being completely drastic......But yes if the phone only lasted 1 minute it would be junk. But this is not the case at all.....when your comparing 5 hour talk time to 8, your simply giving a comparison of the MPG of an accord and a ferrari. There are diffrences but the other is much faster. Now is the ferrari for everybody? No. Is an android for every body? No. is an accord for everybody? No. So to say other phones are junk because the battery lasts 40% less is absurd as saying the I-Phone is junk because it isnt LTE. They all have there niche. Unfortunately people expect a higher standard of Apple, and there mediocare improvements did not satisfy a lot of people.

Also, that's sort of the point to a cell phone. That you don't have to be tethered to anything. Not being able to go anywhere without it being plugged in to charge defeats the purpose of a cell phone in the first place.

These are smartphones. Very powerful I might add. They're not feature or basic phones. Your same argument applies to laptops. Why have a laptop if it has to be tethered to something? Laptops have horrible battery life as well but it hasn't kept consumers from buying them.

Consumers are accepting the fact that if they're going to have a miniature computer in their hands, a compromise needs to be made. Battery life is an issue but, it won't stop consumers from purchasing what they want or need.

Yes true they are smartphones very powerful that is true too! However Laptops are not the same argument ! I don't know about you but I get 10 hours of use on my macbook and my new dell so saying laptops are like cellphones is really not a valid argument. DO people pay monthly service fees for their laptop? If they don't pay their bill will it still work etc... my point is that it is not the same point cell phones are more important try calling 911 on your laptop it's not the same. Compromise can be made but I am not letting them take advantage of me ! If you want them bending you over keep saying it's ok.

I don't control the consumer market, but I am part of it. The argument remains. As I stated, battery life is an issue across the board. But rather than Apple offering a choice of increasing battery size for those that may want it, they simply sacrifice a larger screen and 4G connectivity which many iFans wanted as well. I presume you don't see this.

---" Compromise can be made but I am not letting them take advantage of me !"---

But you will let Apple take advantage of you? Carriers and device manufacturers have no control over the physics of batteries. Yes. Device manufacturers can design ways to make their devices run more efficient. But, at what expense? You will allow Apple to omit certain standard criteria just for battery consum...

I don't even own an iphone so I am not sure why You are saying I won't get it. Apple is not taking advantage of me in any way shape or form so put that in your pipe and smoke it slammer !Also if apple feels the need to remove something to give the phone better battery life then that makes perfect sense but what has apple removed ? I believe I said battery life is an issue. Most will agree with this. I find it less than stellar and feel it could be better.

Fortunately, I understand that while engineers and scientists work to try and improve battery life, technology is not going to stop evolving devices in trying to meet demands of the wireless consumers. I'm not going to step back and cocoon myself in a bubble of self gratification. We either opt to move forward with what new technology and advancements is mainstreamed and placed in front of us, or we can contain ourselves to a proprietary nest of emotional inner tranquility by wrapping ourselves around the battery consumption. I have news for you. The energizer bunny is false. He doesn't exist. He's not going to br...

Once again your exaggerating the issue.... You may have a defective battery... If you want to relate to cars the relation would be good gass mileage vs bad gass mileage. Not every one wants to drive a Leaf...To say that a better battery constitutes a smaller screen and no 4g, well thats absurd...There is a large group of phones that if they dumbed down the screen size and got rid of the 4G the battery would last longer...Technology of batteries does not excel as fast as technology of electronics...Does that mean we should put all advances in technology on hold untill the battery game steps up? Dont fool yourself.

I also don't understand the hate the iPhone 4S is receiving.

Just because they didn't make it a 4G capable device, give it a television sized screen, or put a 12mp camera on it doesn't make it a fail.

Siri in itself is an enormous upgrade/feature that no other phone offered will have out of the box. Devs will no doubt start making apps that mimic Siri, but I doubt they will come close, or if they do, they will cost a pretty penny.

To keep this short and sweet, I agree 100% with you, justfinethankyou

Apple is falling behind in the smartphone business and they really needed to catch up by adding things like HSPA+ (if not LTE), NFC and so forth to get moving on to the next generation of iPhone.

They didn't do that.

I believe that the term you were actually looking for was satirical newspaper. Truth is that most satire has a certain amount of truth hidden in there. There is no doubt that Apple has brought some interested things to the table software wise with the whole SIRI thing, but I have to agree that all in all the device falls a bit short considering that it took a year and a half to get it to the market. The real question I have though is wether SIRI will alert you when you are "holding your phone wrong" haha.

Anyway...

The real takeaway from this is that Apple is no longer the leader in the smartphone business, they are now in the same boat as RIM, Nokia and all them....they are struggling to stay relevant in a world dominated by Google and Android....

This iPhone 4Gs once again falls behind other Smartphones in specs and features.

8Mp cameras have been on several phones for a while now so that isn't special. Oh... and I'm sure the iHeads will say that Apples camera is better becasue its an APPLE Camera.

The Dual Core processor is okay but there are faster and better ones already out and more coming that will really blow this one away.

Better battery life is always good. Especially on a device where you can't remove it! The current 4G phones have also improved battery performance. I have a Droid Bionic that lasts a good 2 Days of heavy use with the extended battery.

And no 4G or High Speed connectivity is really sad when more and more 4G devices are arriving every week it s...
