Samsung Joins Megapixel Party
Wow This Phone I simply AMAZIMG!!!
"SPH = Sprint" is only true for US models, and even then it's not a hard and fast rule. (Consider the SPH-i700 for Verizon.)
The Korean "SPH" models are only for Korean PCS carriers, and won't work in the US at all. The SPH-4400 is definitely a Korean model that won't work anywhere outside of Korea.
Verizon Wireless is currently the only major carrier with a 1XEVDO network in San Diego and Washington D.C. Expect this phone to be available when VZW's national roll-out of 1XEVDO is ready later this year. Sprint has annouced that they will skip 1XEVDO and go directly to 1XEVDV sometime 2005. A mega-pixel image will need a broadband connection, so we'll just have to wait for this beauty to come to market when the network for it is ready.
Although that's actually irrelevant, since Korean PCS is not the same frequencies as North American PCS. So in case I wasn't clear before, the SPH-4400 phone will not work in the U.S. at all. It is a Korean phone that will only work in Korea - period.
Now, I'm sure there is a Samsung EV-DO phone somewhere in Verizon's future, and a megapixel model, but don't expect it/them anytime soon. The first EV-DO megapixel phone for Verizon will be the LG VX-8000:
