You didn't read it corectly. The money you get back is a percent of the purchase price, not the retail value. Lets say that the Buyback costs $50, and you get an Evo, You'd get 50% of $200 between 1 and 6 months, so you're paying Best Buy $150 to "rent" a Evo for up to 6 months.

It's a horrible deal.

Seriously, re-read the story, they say of the purchase price.
