There's only been one--

--warranty worth getting, and that was the old Circuit City cell phone warranty. For $59, you could return your phone within 3 years, get the total cost back, and put it towards a new phone.
was that before Verizon took over?
That was the BEST!!! I worked there for 5 years selling cell phones. It was a no brainer. You would get the FULL value of the phone back plus whatever of the warranty that wasn't used. Most times I walked away with a new phone, new warranty AND $$$...
I never knew about that warranty, I might have to get that the next time I get a phone....oh wait

The Buy Back is off of the RETAIL PRICE

go to

scroll to the bottom and you will read....

*Buy Back plans are available at a variety of prices. Televisions $5,000.00 and up are ineligible. The date that you are eligible to submit a claim for a Buy Back amount begins thirty-one (31) days after the purchase date. Subject to Best Buy Buy Back Program terms and conditions. Please refer to the terms and conditions for a complete description of the Program.

For devices that are mobile phones, the original purchase price means the Best Buy retail price prior to any specific carrier based rebates, offers, discounts or promotions. In addition, for devices that are mobile phones, this Plan may only be utilized for mobile phones that are under a carrier cont...
Oh yeah that link will also give you all the quotes for whatever product you buy
nicely done, people need to read and understand what they are talking about before they post silly things they make up

somebody at bestbuy should be fired

three best buy reps here attest that the return would be based on the retail price (which for example for the evo is $449.99) and not the purchase price(ie., evo @$199.99)..which i believe, and im sure im not alone in this, is suicidal for the company..
IF they are correct then their CEO should be fired lol if im right their trainers should be terminated cause apparently their not doing their jobs well XD

my 2 cents...
btw in the article it says "purchase price"
I REALLY wish I could copy/paste an email from my Best Buy Mobile district manager to prove that the buyback is off the retail price, however since I value my job I'm not going to put proprietary materials on a public site. I am 100% certain, as are t...

hey stupid!

Since you're dumb, we going to rob you 70$ too to join this scam program!

you better off selling your stuffs on eBay!
I mean... hell at-least with other options, you don't have to pay to join. Gamestop for used games is a rip, but hell... at-least its free.
Please explain how this is a scam? You pay a one time fee and can get up to HALF the retail price back after 31 days of purchase. People can actually make a profit doing this so I don't see how its a scam.

Lets say you have a phone you are happy ...

wait a second?

So I buy a $200 phone (retails at lets say $600)
4 months later i get $300 50%
7 months later i get $240 40%
12 months later i get $180 30%

and it costs $50?

So I pay $50, then 4 months later I hate my phone and want a new $600 retail phone... then I get $300 back.. Take the $50 I paid for the plan so we are talking $250.

Now I have $250 credit but the new model is $600, because they are not going to give me contract price again... correct?

So if I want the new $600 retail phone I am looking about $350 out of pocket?

I think I will stick with warranty, insurance, and ebay as last resort
Just how much do you think you are going to get for a used phone on ebay 4-12 months after it launched. The only phones you are going to get a lot for is the major ones like the iPhone.

Sure go ahead and pay for the insurance that you still have t...

This is Awesome!!

So this is how it works, 2 examples:

Sprint Customer:

So as a Sprint Premier customer you can upgrade once a year. You go to Best Buy and get your new HTC EVO on contract for 199.99. Add 59.99 for buy back, but since I want my device protected I than get Buy Back for 29.99. A year passes ans there is a new EVO that retails for 199.99. I give Best Buy my old EVO and they give me 325 dollars. Now I have a new EVO and 125 extra in my pocket to buy accessories.

Verizon Customer:

My phone just went out and I need a new phone now, I am hearing rumors there is an iPhone 4 coming out on Verizon but there is no confirmation and I need a phone today. I upgrade to the HTC Incredible since Best Buy is selling the device for free. I pay 59.9...
Fool! How do u get bestbuy to pay you 325$ for your used 1 year old evo? They only pay you 40% ! unless evo retail new for 812.50$ ! and don't forget they also charge u 70$ to join this scam program!
You didn't read it corectly. The money you get back is a percent of the purchase price, not the retail value. Lets say that the Buyback costs $50, and you get an Evo, You'd get 50% of $200 between 1 and 6 months, so you're paying Best Buy $150 to "ren...
