I finally gave up on the website, the Apple Store app, the Apple Store 800 number (who uses the same website and is having the same difficulty as us in dealing with AT&T), the AT&T Premier Support 866 number (where reps are literally pretending to be recordings and hanging up on people due to call volume), and went down to the local AT&T corp store about twenty minutes ago. Surprisingly, there was no line and I was able to walk right on up. The manager who helped me confirmed that their systems are down right now - even for non-iPhone related upgrades - and wrote out a manual order for my two upgrades. He said he's been in close contact with AT&T corporate and is hoping that the system will be back up in the next 30-60 minutes, at whi...

Finally got our orders to go through on the Apple Store website! It was slow and finicky as hell and I had to do one at a time (we wanted two of them), but I finally got past the "pinwheel of death" on both attempts and forced the process through to the Thank You page with the order numbers. The charges on my card are pending, too, according to my bank's website. The only thing I'm missing now are the order confirmation e-mails and the Apple Store's online status page won't load - argh! Called the guy at the AT&T store to cancel the manual order that he was going to put through for me and he said no problem as they still can't get orders to go through at the store. 🙄
