Having the right people in the right places is key. A good example would be Sprint and Dan Hesse. Is Mr. Hesse that important to Sprint?
If Mr. Duarte brings new ideas and energy to the Android platform then Android will continue its current momentum on all carriers and all manufacturers except a handful of holdouts.
Android and most importantly the Open Handset Alliance is an entire industry against these few holdouts. The holdouts cannot hope to match the deep pockets of everyone involved in this alliance.
