Was this guy really that important?

Palm's WebOS is brilliant for sure, but this guy's track record seems a little shallow. Helio is nothing I would be proud of, and the Sidekicks were..... I mean, it's the Sidekick team that is responsible for the Kin.

Leaving HP-Palm for Android is probably not a smart move. What's going to happen to Android is the same thing that happened to Pocket PC's / WinMO - the lack of differentiation is going to take its toll on hardware manufacturers (willing to bet HTC is the last one standing) .

HP knows this damn well. Willing to guess in the fall when HP begins a marketing blitz it's the beginning of the end for Android, because all of Android's marketing advantages over the iPhone are things WebOS does better than Android.
I'm excited to see what HP has in store for WebOS!
So they already know each other.
Having the right people in the right places is key. A good example would be Sprint and Dan Hesse. Is Mr. Hesse that important to Sprint?
If Mr. Duarte brings new ideas and energy to the Android platform then Android will continue its current momentum...

Oh wow game over...

Android is just going to accelerate against iPhone that much faster now. Combine the completely open nature of Android and the colossal support of Google and the uber sleek and effecient UI of WebOS... *scary*

Man wrong guy for the JOB!

Jesus! 🤣 🤣 🤣

I don't want this guy having anything to do with Android!
Google probably hired him to bring android up to the level of web os

As an OS Android feels like it's 2 years behind WebOS. They're smart for picking him off.

You should. WebOS is superior to Android.

Google is the Microsoft of cell phones.

Except they are stealing from more than just Apple.

Palm and HP are sure to have some issues with this.
If Palm was smart they made him sign a non-compete clause.
