This is another stupid thing apple has done. Why would buy a Locked Phone at full price. That makes no sense at all. I don't like apple but I really feel sorry for all the true apple fans out there. This just shows you how much apple has control over there customers.

This seriously makes no sense. You can buy the phone to use on ATT for a discounted price, or you can pay the FULL price, and use the phone on ATT, but the cool thing is, it won't extend your contract if you pay full price. But, you can only use it on ATT. ๐Ÿคจ

Especially since it's cheaper to buy it on contract and break out of contract vs. buying it at full price.

actually if you plug the phone into itunes and activate the device through itunes, it will enroll you into a two year contract. The same applys if someone gives you a used or refurbished device and activating it through itunes will also enroll you into a two year contract.

you can always get the contract reversed if you paid full price or bought it through a friend. They can tell if you've upgraded

Because some people have bad credit. And who honestly is going to take a T-Mobile Nexus One over to AT&T?

Because it's not like Google released a nexus one for ATT 3g bands or anything last week or anything.

Did the T-Mobile banded Nexus One magically grow some AT&T 3G bands too, or did you not actually read my post before replying again? ๐Ÿ™„

they have a tmobile and an ATT version of the phone.

And people do transfer phones across those carriers (or take phones that are 2g in the US only).

It's stupid because you don't have the money to buy a non-contract iPhone. Some people do, however. And to them, the ones that don't want a contract, it makes perfect sense.

A truly ignorant 'opinion', by the way.

No, what's stupid is that the ability to buy a phone contract free isn't something new. I've been doing it for three years.

This isn't a huge deal, or at least it shouldn't be.

Of course it isn't. But, you know, 15-year-old illiterates to the contrary...

How is it igorant? I guess you cant do the math. Why would pay full price for a phone that you can not use on a another network. There is no differnce between paying full price for a phone and paying full price for severice than doing a contract and getting a cheaper iphone. Let me help you here. The iphone is locked. That means you can only use it on ATT. So haven a contract means nothing if you want a Iphone and want to beable to actualy use it. IF not, just buy a Itouch.

By the way, I thought apple fans are alot smarter. This is basic math and legal stuff.
A locked phone that can only be used on ATT equals a contract phone that is cheaper.

Here's the math (and I didn't bother reading the rest of your poorly worded & badly written post: Two words...

No Contract and you pay the same amount per month let alone NEVER can use the phone on another network. How is that smart? I really want you to explain why you would pay more for a phone that you can never use on another network and pay the same amount for service. Contract has nothing to do with it since you are locked in with ATT. Locked phones is the same as a contract.

Why should I go away. It is a pretty simple question. Bottom line, your locked with ATT with your Full price iphone. That is a contract. You havent explain how that isnt a contract when your locked with ATT. If I am so dense, what company can you use your iphone with sinced you are not in a contract?

Some folks don't want a contract no matter what scenario you describe. And now I am unchecking 'notify on new replies' as to avoid you permanently.
