Apple is now allowing people to buy the iPhone for full price with out proof of an AT&T contract. The devices are still locked to the AT&T network, but can be purchased outright for $499 (3G), $599, or $699 (3GS). Available for prepaid???

So can I officially use the iPhone with a prepaid AT&T sim now?
No the iPhone is not available for use with an AT&T prepaid sim. Though it will work if you are not careful one of the internet-required apps will kick in and zap your account balance. Trust me I found this out the hard way.

Wow, they will sell me a locked phone for only $500?

The generosity is heartwarming. Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty I am free at last.
