ATT states(i think even sued) to have the fastest mobile network. So when can Sprint bring out the commercials to say this.

AT&T was sued for claiming the least amount of dropped calls. They switched to "More bars in more places".

Technically, AT&T does have the fastest "3G" network where applicable(which is not much). But they can get away with it because there is a presence nationally. Sprint will start their ads once more markets go live. They will truly have the fastest network.

Technically; As Belonging or relating to a particular subject.

I posted the reality by the definition given. In 3G tests, AT&T's top speed did outperform the others in many markets across the country to prove that AT&T has the slightly faster(fastest) "3G" network. However, Verizon has the most coverage and Sprint has the most reliable and consistant. AT&T's is only in a handful of cities compared to Sprint and the even more Verizon. But nonetheless it is legal to make said claim since it is national averaged and not localized in one state.

"Technically", Sprint now has the fastest network of anyone by five to seven times that of 3G speed. By the end of next year, AT&T will have a great deficiency in their speed ratio adjacent to the c...

Hey Slammer, I have a qeustion for you, do you remember reading 4yrs ago or so that UMTS 3G wil be capable of 14.4mbps someday, and HSPA+ will be capable of 21mbps someday?

Do you agree now that 4G is being deployed, not only by Sprint/Clear but soon Verizon, that 3G never did live up to it's potential speeds?

I'm just wondering if theres anybody out there that is honest enough to agree with me. That 3G didn't live up to it's potential.

"Capable" is the operative word here Jay. Being capapble does not necessarily mean that it "Will". There are many things that equate into making capable into reality.

It can be something small and simple such as an optional accessory. E.G. HD "capable" TV with the purchase of an optional decoder. The TV is set up for HD, but cannot recognize the signal without the decoder. The TV will work just fine without the decoder, but you won't benefit from High-Definition. Without knowing the exact reasons given for the 3G limitations, They maybe referring to the infrastructure not being designed and built to handle todays demand. Many technical designs are engineered with certain tolerances in mind to prevent overloading, short circuitng and break...

I just want to say thank you Slammer for not being a jerk, or rude, or biasted.

In the Wireless Data forum, I quoted the CTO of Ericsson saying that 3G never lived up to it's true potential, and I was accussed of spamming Clear! ! ! And in my post, I didn't even single out Clear, I even made mention of Verizon deploying LTE in addition to Clear deploying WiMAX, so I was being biasted, but yet I was accussed of frinkin spamming!!! Not only was I not biasted, I was honest, and provided a quote from a CTO of a leading networking company, with a link to back it up.

Personal note to you Slammer, in past posts, I honestly had no intention of showing off to you that Clear is available where I live and not where you live, honestly, I didn't ...

I know what you mean Jay, I once had a discussion with Walt Mossberg from Wall Street Journal on an issue that I disagreed with him on. He deleted my posts! Bastard. I worked in Media for awhile and you really have to watch what you say. They don't like hearing something that they disagree with. It is said that the media should not be biased, But they are anyway.
On the 3G question: Another thing they could have meant was the sales and revenue issue for 3G. I think I remember reading an article on the goal for 3G as a commercial revenue tool. Many things they had planned for 3G, never transpired. Now 4G is coming to light and there is no need to pursue the goal of 3G. I am just speculating.
I truly am glad that you have Clear and enjoying ...

With reguards to WiMAX's achievements, while on the strip bus going north in front of the Encore (Wynn's sister resort) I hit a whopping 14.5mbps!!! And not that far from where I live, I got 14.7mbps one time. Speeds do vary drasticly, but generally it is what's advertised, 3-6, with burst up to 10.

Fromt time to time, I go to wimax.com, kind of a sad situation in Ireland they're speeds are only 1mbps, this company called Imagine is buuilding out a WiMAX network, and says by 2012 90% of Ireland will be covered, so that's happy news for them.

And on wimax.com, I read that "Realease 2" will be capable of 120 on the downlink, and 60 on the uplink. That's frinkin amaZZZing. Think of it, if you set up a WiMAX hotspot in your house with thos...
