China Regulates the Internet

Oct 23, 2009, 11:58 AM
In China the internet is so regulated that your not even allowed a device that includes wifi. All websites are approved by the Government and they have teams of THOUSANDS of engineers sitting at computers blocking sites.

Obama's czars would never do anything like that... Rolling Eyes

Net Neutrality will allow Private industries to be forced by the Government block spam and illegal content- who decides if its illegal or not... oh ya

You are so correct. I am very sure we can trust the President with all our freedoms!

YES! Just like Joseph Stalin! oh and Mao Tse Tsung, of COURSE the administration can be trusted not to infringe on the freedoms we allow them to regulate! I mean, anyone who idolizes Mao as a top philosopher can be trusted...

Bull$#!+ - there's been plenty of piecemeal legislation that has made spam & certain forms of content illegal, but that's all come through Congress (elected representatives of regular people), and most of it with overwhelming concensus.

Net Neutrality has *NOTHING* to do with content - it's about the regulation/manipulation of packet data speeds by ISPs (or lack thereof). To state otherwise is either lies or ignorance.

you just proved the point.

certain media IS already illegal over the internet, some of it righly so, but where do you draw the line? and who decides where the line is drawn.

the answer is the government. whether officials are elected or not, have you ever met an honest politician? so why would you trust them to dictate every aspect of your life if they're ill equipped to handle business as usual?

the government needs to stay out of our lives, not be immersed in them. why is everyone so gung ho about government control? take personal responsibility and quit bitching about people doing things like smoking, eating fast food, downloading porn, etc. it's none of your business, they're persoanl choices and people deserve to reap the conse...

Govt out of our business? Obviously you support abortion and gay marriage, right?

Oct 28, 2009, 10:08 AM
I'm pro-choice and pro gay rights, what's wrong with that? those are civil liberties right? last i checked abortion is something that's a very personal decision, and being a homosexual is a personal lifestyle choice. My whole point is exactly that, it's a personal choice, while it may not be the supposed "moral" choice, it's a choice we are entitled to as Americans. If you ask me, everyone in the world should be free like that. Why is everyone so obsessed with controlling each other and forcing conformity to a perceived standard set by some unseen panel of moral judges, life's too short to worry about what you're neighbor is doing.
