Why are they selling towers in the first place? Are these 2G or 3G? I live in a city without 3G and was told we'd have 3G a year ago. So I guess I wonder why they're pushing 3G down our throats when half the country can't connect to their 3G. When my contract's up on my last line, and if we don't have 3G yet, hello verizon. Maybe.

Selling their towers will have no bearing in providing 3G. They own the infrastructure(antennas, cabling, etc) that is on the towers. It is cheaper to lease the tower rather tnan own it. This is generally common practice now. Most carriers are channeling on this.
