How do I do this? This is a great way to get out of contract with them.

if you got phones it wont end the contract with that it will just end the contract with wireless cards and the easy way to do it is to download limewire or something of that sort and down load music pics or any kind of media

It might end your contract, but does not mean they will waive ETF's if any.

I don't know much about the contracts, but I would assume if att cancels the ETF's do not apply but If they cancel you because you failed to fullfill the contract, then they would apply, i think.

No, in this instance it will not apply to AT&T DSL (home internet) service. I gather this from the article in Wireless Week that is linked to at the end of the entry. It specifically draws the comparison as to why.
