no it won't. 4g might be done from a devolpment standpoint but no way deployed by then. Wimax will be but its not technicly a 4g network according to the info. LTE won't be deployed fully probably until 2014 is my guess.

4G would have to be an evolution of data in the cellular technology. Wimax is not an evolution in the cellular industry but rather the computer and networking industry. Wimax has been around for about 5 years in Brazil and Argentina. Wimax has also replaced in some places cellular with VOIP and data.

LTE is the evolution in cellular, and data from cellular. Why do we call, "3G" exactly that, because it is the 3rd generation of data networks over cellular bands.

Excuse me!! What basis Sir/Madam do you have to make your accusation?

I have friends that still live down there in Brazil and Argentina and use VOIP over Wimax quite often. You think the US is always on the Cusp of being the first in Technology, but they are not we have some cool things here in the US, but the fact of the matter remains that either European Markets and Japanese have the US beat.

Now addressing the Evolution of Network capabilities for data. The History is quite clear that going from first gen data, then second gen data, then to third gen; has been an evolution in CELLULAR technology not any other...

I'm curious what the heck makes you think 2014?!!?

Both Motorola and later this year Verizon are doing LTE tests, and this is now by the way, 2008.

Personally I'm guessing latter part of 2010 ther will be LTE capable aircards available right here in the states.

LTE requires upgrading the towers. 2014 is likely very accurate.
