Nokia phones are too European for the U.S.

In terms of technology, Nokia phones are as good as any. However, in terms of styling, Nokia phones are just plain UGLY in the eyes of most Americans. Just releasing a dozen more of their same-old phones is not going to make them number 1 in the U.S. Nokia needs some U.S. styling input.

if you think the n95, n76, and n93 are ugly then you are visually impaired my friend. Those phones define elegance and finess.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Doesn't make anyone visually impaired. Style is subjective, and frankly, I think they are butt ugly too.

I have the silver/black nokia n73 and I get compliments on its appearance everywhere I go. Might I ask what phone you have?

I have the N82 and could care less what anyone says about it's "looks" LOL. It's not a fashion statement. Really who compliment's another's phone? And why?

people at wal-mart and the mall. I dont know why they do it, they ask if it takes as good a pics as a digital camera. I was merely making the point that nokia makes nice looking phones.

My N82 is nothing to look at LOL. Until you "open the hood"

It takes picturees good enough to leave a camera at home or make it your only camera. I don't even take pics at 5MP. IM not printing 11x14 prints LOL. The Video is amazing at 30FPS though and no limit to time.

thats true, the n82 looks like a tin can which is why I am looking to get a 5 megapixel cam phone but it wont be that one. I am leaning toward the sony ericsson k850

I don't understand why the "look" of the phone is so important! Its just a phone. not jewelry!

I don't wave my phone around for all to see and could care less what others think of the looks of mt phone. I really don't get it I guess. FUNTION over form every time.

If you are willing to give up Talk Time, GPS, on board memory, WiFi, 3.5mm jack, stereo speakers, TV out, Video sharing, open OS For the sake of getting compliments on the LOOKS of your phone, God Bless you!

I might use wifi but that is it. These phones are wants not needs so if there are 2 comparable phones feature wise and one is better looking than the other then I go with that one and the sony ericsson k850 is way better looking than the n82. period.

I don't see where the K850 is comparable with the N series on any level.

The N series has so much more to offer.

So many more features for the money. To give up those virtualy free features for the "look" is amazing to me. Unless you have no need for GPS, free internet WiFi, Open source OS on a smart phone, 3.5mm headphone jack.....not to mention the roak solid reception Nokia is well known for.

dont get me wrong, I love my N73 but I have never had a SE phone and I am curious.

My second choice would be the SE. I have had them and they are not bad. If I could not afford to pay $400-$500 for a phone I would get an SE or a Nokia 6126. One of the things that really bothered me was the lack of a 3.5mm jack or even 2.5mm.

That's because most Americans lack style... they don't know what style is or what fashion is and the few who do are misunderstood and deemed metrosexual or worse...

I really agree with this. My wife and I are both boggled with the apparently obsession with hideously ugly flip phones common with all US carriers. Most of the US specific Nokia phones appear to follow this pattern, but many of the european Nokia phones are sleek and sexy.

Who the hell uses a call phone as a fashion statement.....??LOL

Only in this country do people favor form over function. IF you need a phone to gain favor from others you have a deeper problem a pretty phone will not solve

It's everywhere man, what about the LG Prada phone or the Samsung Armani joint venture? Those were released in Europe first. Or the Vertu and others that put expensive ass stones on the phones.

Nokia's current US lineup isn't very pretty... their older ones were. 6682 anyone?

There will always be a woeful handful of people who need acceptance so bad they will buy it and hope their flashy possessions reap the envy of others.

But for the masses I cannot believe the look of a phone matters more then the function.
