So Nokia is finally going to make some Verizon phones instead of rebranding some pantech crap. It will be nice to see some variety with them added to the lineup

Yeah, Verizon was mentioned, but there was no mention of Sprint? 😕 Oh well...

That's ok really, coming from Nokia unless it's an N Series handset, it's not all that impressive.

EXACTLY and Verizon cripples their phones so much that it would be a waste of money to buy any N Verizon branded series. I don't think Nokia will make those phones for VErizon and be forced to use VErizon GUI and cripple the phone,

Verizon will get the low end line.

Well, whatever, I have the unlocked pure straight from the manufacturer N95-3, and it works great on AT&T's 3G network!

I know better than to be with Verizon,...lol!!!

As do I. I had the N95 and sold it for the N82.

Oh. Well, what do you think of the N82 so far compared to the N95

I found out recently that the N82 has a lens cover over it, how profoundly intelligent of Nokia to do that!!!!!!

Does that N82 have a 3.5mm headphone jack like the N95?

Well I gave up the slider for a thinner phone. It has everyhing the N95 Has including the 3.5 jack (which doubles as a TV out). The battery life is better and I like not having to open it to make or recieve a call. But I do all that wirelessly anyway.

The indoor flash rivals my wife's Panasonic SD700Is camera. The GArmin is frigging amazing.

In the end prefered a slimmer phone since Im a pocket carrier. I like the keys better as well. The lens cover starts the phone. No more pocket photos. LOL. Also has two cameras One on front and the big one on back. The phone is a great BT web canm as well.

Its the same phone with very few refinements.

Well, on the N95, you don't have to slide it up to answer phone calls, only to make them and to search contacts.

But you definetly have me sold on the thinner more compact part, that's for sure. But then again, isn't the display on the N95 quite a bit bigger? I enjoy a big display.

But you definetly have a point about the N82's over all smaller size, that's for sure. Personally, I don't really keep my phone in my pocket, I have a horizontal case that I keep on my belt.

By the way, you should check out a website called: www.n95users.com

It's a very, very resourceful website!

yeah its a smaller screen. But I'll give that 1/2" or so up for asmaller phone. It's give and take. I like the N95. But for me the N82 is all I want and more than I need. LOL

I will check out that site, Thanks

I'd be all over the N82 if it supported the US UMTS like the N95-3. I hope they release one in the future.

Sorry to say, it's still the rebranded pantech crap for VZW. Nokia has completely pulled out of developing their own CDMA phones.

oh, the way it red it sounded like they were actually going to make them, I remeber reading last year they were going to develope cdma phones again, but if it is just going to be more utstacomm crap with a nokia sticker on it i will pass.

It'll probably be like that until the whole situation with Qualcomm is resolved. In other words, it might happen in our lifetime.

Why would Nokia make a CDMA phone that has to have a VErizon GUI and cripple all the features Nokia puts on their best phones?

Maybe the low end "free" stuff. Certainly not the best Nokia has to offer.

Or you could read the article in question and realize that youre incorrect on all counts.
Or you could go to engadgetmobile and read about the CDMA nokia handset thats launching soon..
BUUUUUT that would take more information than you currently have, so youll just misinform people and everyone will think you know what youre talking about.

Well, if you want a phone that does everything go ahead and get onto AT&T or T-Mobile that work reliably only in large cities.

I don't want or need a phone that does everything. If I need internet access and email, I have a computer for that. If I need an mp3 player, I have an iPod. For pictures, I have a digital camera. And last, but not least, if I need directions how to get somewhere, first I know how to read maps and keep the local maps in the car and second, if I'm lazy, I have a TomTom One XL-S. I want and have a phone that works reliably on a Verizon Network that still works in rural areas (AT&T and T-Mobile mostly do not) and makes and receives calls. It's a phone after all and making and receiving calls is a primary feature. It ...
