WiMAX isn't a cellular technology, or G tech for short. WiMAX is actually a technology that was developed for city wide wifi but wasn't accepted due to everyone having to purchase WiMAX hardware. Sprint has taken it as their 4G and now it officially meets the requirements to be called as such.
