Mandatory $80 per month?

DMZ

Oct 18, 2007, 11:05 AM
Verizon can take their mandatory $80/month requirement and shove it where the don't shine. Not everyone who has a PDA phone needs a data plan. I have an XV6600 which I've been looking to upgrade so I can run Windoze Mobile 5 or 6 instead of 2003SE, but if they're going to require me to take a $45/month unlimited data plan, they can go f*** themselves. I have a PDA phone primarily because of the software available for Windoze Mobile.

As everyone can see, the other carriers aren't sitting on their laurels any more letting Verizon continue to crap on them with things like Rollover Minutes, much cheaper data plans, and introduction of technologically advanced phones like these months and months ahead of Verizon. AT&T's coverage is now jus...

ROFLMFAO 🤣 You gotta be F***ing kidding me. If CDMA is so great why does AT&T have the few dropped calls, and why is used world wide rather than CDMA. Pull your head out of the....sand and maybe get an education.

The rest of my family has att and I the voice quality is terrible! It's a joke. The only thing att really has over verizon is sim cards and a couple smart phones.

Have fun with your "tin can" voice quality. Glad you're enjoying it!

I've tried, for some idiotic reason my mom likes att. Even tho they have screwed her several times on her bill and her phone.

I dunno, I just dont think she wants to deal with switching.

Your comfortable with it, because it's best thing going today.......and tomorrow. If it wasn't for AT&T we'd still be using bag phones with 10 minute talk time. GET A CLUE!!!!

No idea. I was just saying if that $80/month mandatory is true then it is another bad restriction put on by Verizon. If it was a typo then obviously I retract my statement.

Nope, and it never was except for Blackberries, but that has to do with a contract with Rimm. It is worth it to add the feature to get a discount, as you can always remove it since it is noncontractual.

Yes, I knew that part. I retract my statement, but Verizon still puts restrictions. (not on this device though)

I don't know gentlement (and ladies) but I think I read the PS article thoroughly and found nary a mention of a mandatory data plan. Since I am late to the party, perhaps there were some corrections made before I read it. However the more I read here the more it seems there are certain people that for some reason have a beef with VZW and will take any oppotunity to jump on the hater bandwagon. All the hate statements posted here just don't seem to make sense given VZWs stellar performance quarter after quarter. Leads me to beleive there is a small but vocal group that will hate on VZW no matter what products or offerings they deliver. Anyway, I think the new phones are pretty exciting.

There is no such requirement to have a data plan with a PDA. None, zero, zilch, nada*

*Except Blackberry's, but that's due to an agreement with RIM

The fact that VZW has actually defined the download limit in their T&Cs is a good thing for the consumer. At least you know the limits. Other carriers reserve the right to shut you down whenever they want. Read the Sprint T&Cs (as an example). They specfically reserve the right to shut you down for excessive use of their data network. However no one knows what Sprint considers excessive use. So does AT&T. All carriers have this clause. Why? No carriers cellular networks are designed to support multiple users watching the LOR trilogy on their mobile sling client. They're designed for burst traffic not constant streaming. Even some ISPs are now setting download limitations. This belief that VZW limits data downloads more than other carriers is...
