Sprint Cancels Difficult Customers' Contracts

Does anyone think this will result in other customers calling in less out of fear of cancellation? Or as someone else posted, calling in excessively in an attempt to get canceled?

Yeah. They might live w/ their phone issues, or buy them outright. Sprint charges up the butt for outright phones!

It costs around the same to buy a phone outright. The only company that really does charge more is Verizon. Check the models that are for multiple carriers and you'll see this. Did your seriously just post that because you dislike Sprint? I have worked for TM, Sprint, VW and know from experience.

I have no beef w/ Sprint. I just cancelled w/ them in Feb, because the signal sucks in my area. I check phones off every carrier. That's how I know. And yes, Verizon is expensive, too.

I guess if you get a prepaid phone then they are cheaper. Other than that they all charge out the @$$ for a new phone. None of the carriers make anything out of selling the phones outright anyway.

BS. All phones are sold with a small markup. Even when an Agent purchases a phone the Carrier charges a markup on the device compared to what they get them at.

A small mark-up. Thats not very profitable. Where I work I get nothing for the sale of a phone. Also the mark-up at wal-mart on average for the phones is around 6%, by the time you sale the phone the hourly pay from the employer is the cost of the phone, also it costs money to call customer service and to transfer your phone number and to activate the phone.

Not enough to mean anything. When you factor in all expenses, most carriers lose money on the phones.

Its not that sprint charges "up the butt" fpr their phones.... ALL cellular phones have a very high price tag from the manufac. so its an actual loss or no mark up at all to sell it retail now on a contract new the company takes a complaete loss until they make it up on the monthly plan you purchase and if its a low end plan it could take the company up to a year to make a profit from the consumer... just remember nothing is totally free some one had to pay for it!

yep thats exactly whats going to happen, ive seen it be suggested on this board already, "if you want out of your contract just call alot" k while that MAY work, chances are sprints not going to do this sort of thing for quite a while longer. Also the more people call in the longer hold times there are, so in the end, we (cs) have to be there 8 hours and take calls anyway, so all the customer calling in is doing is wasting his/her time if they dont have a legit issue and in the end getting themselves all worked up and then, noone not the cust not the rep and anyone else involved will be happy.

I was telling my neighbor about Sprints actions, he wants out of his Sprint contract, I think he started calling customer service last night, said he was going to put them on speed dial. I think Sprint opened a can of worms worst that they had.
