100GB Per Month

Now that's really pathetic. Those that approach and go over that threshold have serious issues. Abuse and just plain taking advantage of something like that shows that people are selfish and exercise little to no common sense.
There is something out there called Wi-Fi. Use it.

Do you work for Verizon? LOL.
Actually the really pathetic thing here is that Verizon and other companies as well suckered in customers with a promise of Unlimited Internet. Now they are going back on the promise and pathetically try to blame the customer for taking advantage of what they themselves offered for sale. Shame on Verizon I say.

Exactly. Verizon is breaching their contract through a bait and switch scheme. Verizon was outright lying when they offered "unlimited" plans and now want to do away with it. They should be investigated by the FCC and even sued by those customers affected by Verizon's lying.

The article says they stopped offering unlimited plans in 2011, that's 5 years ago. The longest contracts Verizon has offered were 2 year contracts, so there's no breach of contact since the contract period has ended. Once the contract ends Verizon is under no obligation to continue to offer a plan or continue with the same price. The obligation for both the user and Verizon is just a month-to-month arrangement.

Verizon just needs to suck a fat toe. If someone used 100gb on their current plans I am sure Verizon would gladly rape them.

If it truly is only 1% of subscribers with the unlimited data, then this shouldn't impact Verizon's touted network or bandwidth at all. Like previous poster said, bait and switch tactics. Big Red is lying and just trying to monetize any way they can. Look at their track record. (higher prices on phones, accessories, upgrade fees, rate plans, etc) Why are we even surprised? Verizon has the best network and so likes to throw their weight around. People will get sick of it, if they aren't already. I know it is wearing thin and eventually I will look elsewhere.

What year do you think it is?

Neither unlimited plans nor contracts have existed at Verizon in years.

There can be no 'breach of contract' if contracts no longer exist, and there can be no breaking of a promise of 'unlimited data' if the promise isn't even made.

At any rate, any adult, as opposed to a child, knows that there can never be a promise from anyone to give truly unlimited anything to anyone and that in any promise of 'unlimited' there is an implied cap. Unlimited can never mean anything except 'unlimited within reason.'

Olive Garden promises 'unlimited pasta and breadsticks', but I can guarantee you that this does not mean that you can walk in right at the moment it opens and order a new bowl of pasta and a new plat...

Hope as many people that can ditch Verizon do. Go to MetroPCS, T-Mobile, Cricket, Sprint or AT&T (if you have DirecTV) for unlimited or....basically almost EVERY other carrier. Some Netflix movies can be multiple GB & say you are an otr trucker, realtor, etc & rely heavily on your phone I would say YES, it's conceivable someone could hit 100GB & Verizon was already crappy enough to nearly double the cost of the unlimited data feature from $30 to $50/monthly....for ONLY that feature. It takes T-Mobile's & Sprint's (to a lesser degree AT&T/Cricket) radical moves (like unlimited data, rollover data, no overages, Canada/Mexico roaming free, etc) & Verizon's below market performance in new postpaid adds (Wall Street expectation) & actually LOS...

Completely agree. They even charged us $20 more a month and that's still not enough for a company that pulls in twelve figures a year! (though they only report eleven) I haven't hit 100gb/month personally, but to use the argument of hey, pay $100/month for practically zero data from VZW and on top of it, pay for additional service from another party to use their service at your house? This is idiotic and idiots have been too afraid to speak out. Email the FCC, daily, and demand a stand be taken. We are the company, without us, they don't exist. Make that known.

You need to understand something, when Verizon first offered that plan line many other carriers, unlimited is what it is, unlimited. For Verizon to be doing what they plan to do well do nothing more then to get themselves sued. Just like straighttalk.com did a few years ago. Tracfone which owns straighttalk.com paid $40 million out to the people on straight talk at the time. Verizon will have to do the same.
