Cingular Reverting To AT&T Brand (Corrected)
No matter what you call it.... Its still not Verizon Quality
Cingular
AT&T
at&t
cellular one
pinto
edsel
etc.. etc....
Same crappy network, different day, different name.
It will never reach the quality of Verizon service.
Just goes to show, you can give something a shiney name...
...but you cant polish a turd!
If screwing up your bill is a sign of quality then yeah Verizon's got plenty of that.
Cingular has more towers and if "it's the network" then Verizon's in trouble.
That said, Cingular does have a plan in place to improve an' if all goes well theyll be ready to go toe-to-toe wit' anyone in 2 years or so. Right now they gotta deal wit' a lotta merger headaches an' thats settin' them back, like it has with any carrier thats had to do a big merger.

Yeah just ask those people in California who had to sue Verizon because Verizon was charging them for bluetooth features on bluetooth handsets that are features of the phone not the actual service.

Teehee. There's my daily laugh.
Cingular phones Kick azz. Looking at Verizon's lineup - I almost puked.

Verizon has great quality? Please. I love Cingular and AT&T and I have had both as well as Sprint.

Dat's actually a slam on Cingular ain't it? 'Cus Verizon is flat clobberin' Cingular with a 'puke' phone lineup then.
What were the numbers again? Verizon added 1.9 million customers, Cingular less than 900k? Cingular's got about twice as many customers leaving (churn) as Verizon?
Guess your stomach ain't a good judge of who's actually doin' well. 🙂
"very strong' QTR3. Best since merger. Gaining ground in new customer acquisition versus last year and STILL the largest with 51.4 million subscribers. Oh, and the phones rock. Nuff said.
Heck, even T-Mobile added mo' customers in Q3. Guess the definition of 'very strong quarter' has changed some.
People leave companies for SOOO many different reasons, network, phones, location, not giving them something for being a loyal customer, not good enough phone selection, not good enough plans... People are not just leaving Cingular to go to Verizon or other companies because of the network..
Just wait and see when Cingular launches push to talk!

My Cingular representative just informed me that Cingular has almost 52 million customers. That's about 2 million more than maybe 4-5 months ago when they had only 50 million. I'd say that's some growth.
If you want the stats, Cingular's customer count went up 1.9 million customers in the last 6 months (the 2 quarters combined).
Verizon's went up 3.8 million customers in the same time period. In other words, double what Cingular did.
Given that pace, its only a matter of time b4 Verizon passes Cingular in total customer count an' retakes the #1 position as largest US wireless carrier.
So ya see, while it is some growth, its not enough growth.
People leave compa...

verizon has the best network and that is why they have the best brand image and gets the best sub growth in the quarter. (and thats why at the end of 2006 they will be number 1)
well said though.

this is all why you get the best of both worlds with Sprint. The phones aren't as cool as some of the GSM phones which is really disappointing but you still get CDMA instead f weak ass GSM. Plus Cingular's logo looks gay. Who wants that thing to come on the mail every month?
Well, I think it's very interesting that you choose services based on the way logos look on mailing envelopes.
I live in Florida, and Verizon Wireless sucks here, to put it politely. Cingular is best in *this* area, followed by T-Mobile, and then Alltel, then Sprint Nextel, and finally Verizon Wireless. Cingular and T-Mobile by far have the best voice quality here.
Everything goes in cycles. Like I've said before, with AT&T's purchase of McCaw, and their new Digital One Rate TDMA plan, they are the coverage leader, and they have the largest network. Now, look what happened with AT&T Wireless. Verizon Communications will fold eventually, it's not a matter of 'if', it's a matter of when and how long did it take. Likewise, Sprint Nextel will fold, and the new AT&T will fold just like the old one did.
They get the message stuck in their head "Can you hear me now" which is very very catchy and so it leads the average consumer to walk in the store and check it out, and then all you need is the sales person for the extras...
Like I said it's all a bunch of hype. The average Verizon customer I see won't even look at another brochure or coverage map of another carrier because they "think" they have the largest and best coverage and best plans, and they don't. I think Cingular and Sprint are beating the coverage of Verizon and T-Mobile is definitely beating the p...

Even Cingular's CEO pretty much admitted in a recent interview that Verizon had the best network, an' that Verizon is the benchmark they are hopin' to beat in a couple of years. Pretty tough to beat that endorsement.
