This is all fine and dandy, but maybe I just don't appreciate PTT... Personally, my mobile to mobile works just fine... The carrier that does it best (Nextel) has a smaller footprint and old technology. Alltel is a joke in my opinion, but to each his own. When did it become so hard to open your phone an use a speed dial key or dial 7-10 numbers... Beats me 🙄

PTT is instantaneous. There's no dialing or waiting 30 seconds to make a connection. Once more carriers get PTT rolling, it'll help drive down prices of PTT plans. As for Alltel being a joke...what do you base your information on?

I think PTT is a great conception, however, I have not yet seen a company implement it effectivly enough for me to get into it. Nextel probably has the best PTT service, however when it comes to making regular calls and service area, they are about the worst of the carriers. Sprint is probably next in line with PTT, however, their service is not as refined as Nextel, and the area in which you can use it is not much bigger than nextels, however their calling area is much bigger. Verizon has the largest area of availablitly, but they never really went with the concept the first time around. Verizon is planning on re-launching their PTT service, but we'll have to wait a couple months or so to see if they come through as promised. If the ab...

Personally, PTT is annoying. Once I hear that stupid chirp, I cringe...its nothing but a gimmick...as a former Nextel subscriber, I found it much easier to just call the person, because I never had to deal with busy signals... As for Alltel, they are fairly big in central Michigan, but their plans are so outrageously priced, its no wonder why students at Central Michigan University go with Nextel...they're just about the same in price
The level of annoyance caused by the "chirp" could be controlled by the person using the handset. Occasionally, I get that guy who's standing in line with his Nextel's volume cranked all the way up. Everyone in the building can hear both him and the response. Now THAT's annoying...and c...

I'm the guy who goes into the RSS and disables those damn noises so that it's not as annoying... that was with Boost, though, I've never had/never will have NexTel.

If only it would extend to this forum, right? LOL. I've got to work on that.
