Sidekick over IPAQ, MDA, and Blackberry...Here's Why:

I'm not 16, I'm no Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan, and I'm certainly not a basketball star. I own my own business, and at the heart of my success in competition is communication. I MUST be able to send and receive email, text, and IMs instantly, reliably, and in a few seconds flat. No other device that I have tried comes even remotely close to the Sidekick's messaging abilities.

I admit that I have not stepped outside the realm of T-Mobile products, but that's because their prices are the lowest for the volume I need and their customer service, though not up to my high standards, has proven better than what I have received just inquiring about other companies' products, let alone servicing my contract.

So here is how these other devi...

WHY ON EARTH DOES THIS HAVE SUCH A GOD AWEFUL SCREEN AND FEATURES!?

I work at T-mobile and absolutely LOVED the Sidekick II. But the crappy screen and having no MMS or video on the SK3 are UNACCEPTABLE for a $300 device!!

I went ahead and bought the MDA after fooling with the SK3. MUCH brighter, bigger and more virbrant screen with way more features and a smaller form factor. Danger seriously dropped the ball on this one!

T-mobile should have went ALL OUT on their flagship device, I'm completely disappointed!

SYNCING WITH OUTLOOK

Will the SK3 syncronize with OUTLOOK like a PDA?
with software you can buy buy? download? i'm not sure? from t-mobile. i don't use outlook so i'm not sure if it's free or you have to pay.

MMS Capabilities

Thanks for the review! I noticed in the review it stated that there was no MMS support on the new Sidekick but the online manual (http://help.sidekick.dngr.com/en-us/manual/m 2/R3.0/Desktop/T02030.html) states that there is. My question is: will the T-Mobile Sidekick 3 have MMS capabilities? Any info would be great. Thanks.
That link didn't work for me, but this page?

KB Backlight??

Unless I missed it somewhere, does anyone know if the KB has a backlight? Or light-up keys for texting in the dark?
yup. the keys light up when the light sensor says it's dark enough to need the backlight. and this light sensor as well as the keyboard lighting is WAY better than it was on the II

A Tad Disappointed . . .

I work for T-Mo and reviewed the info in our intranet and the review here on phonescoop. I like the new look, the Bluetooth and MP3 playback, but why no change to the OS? Why is the screen exactly the same as SDKII? I guess I was expecting an improvement that would've been as dramatic as the ones from SDKI to SDKII. To me, it's kinda like what the Nintendo DS lite is to the original DS, or the Game Boy Advance SP to the first Advance (for gamers Razz ). We'll be getting our store demo early next week, so I'll have a chance to go hands-on then, but until that happens, I'm not as impressed as I thought I'd be. Anyone else agree?
I agree. I'm a T-mo RSR in new england. I am glad that is has a better camera, Bluetooth, the larger internal memory plus the removable card. The Mp3 player is cool too. I am VERY happy to see that there is a removable battery now. However...A change ...

Rich or Eric...

Does the screen look better than the Sidekick 2's screen? How was the web compared to the Sidekick 3 performance? Thanks.
the screen is exactly the same. exactly. because the SK3 has EDGE, data speeds are much faster than on the 2, and that is reflected in browsing performance. but otherwise the browser is also the same as on the 2.3 update to the SKII.
