Formatting a Micro Card?

I have a nearly full 1 GB micro card, which was on my LG VX8300. I know I must reformat it for the Maxx, but have been unable to do so, and I cannot find info from the maual.

I've tried turning the Maxx on and off, putting the card into my card reader and deleting the files from there (while they disappear, they still read 'full'), but still I can't put anything onto it.

have you tried accessing the memory card while it is in the phone, and formating the card while it is in the phone? I know that may sound basic, but I found that it is needed, or if your card has the my music folder you should be able to access the...

Easy Way To Get Ringtones To Maxx?

It seems that the good folks at Verizon have blocked sending a ringtone to my phone, opening it and saving it.

What are the easy ways of doing it for the Maxx Ve? I know all about how to make them and what size limit there is, but is there an easy way to get them on the phone?

For my E815 I would put them on a MicroSD card and send them to myself as a text message.
I haven't done it myself, but there are some good tips on this Howard Forums thread on how to do stuff like add customer ringtones
make a 30 second MP3, then change the .mp3 to .mid
picture message it to your phone.
Does anyone know that if you save these to the micro SD card, will they show up as ringtones as long as I change the extension to .qcp instead of .wma or .mp3?
A friend of mine pointed me to So I conducted the Test ringtone to make sure it works with my Maxx VE and it worked.

At Myxertones you can search for a certain ringtone or you can upload one of your favorite songs and edit it on th...

Question on hacking the Maxx to get Moto UI

Is it possible to hack the Maxx to get the Moto UI?

No. It is a Verizon exclusive with much in volatile memory.

Wait till the V9m is released for more than one carrier, and then the games will begin....
Yes, you can hack the phone. I hacked mine and turned on all my bluetooth features to transfer files from phone to phone. I am also able to use a regular motorola earpiece(non bluetooth) It was a few things I was able to do after the hack.
This thread has been necroposted. It began asking about the Moto UI, then went off about Bluetooth transfer.

No,for the Moto UI. There isn't one. The Maxx Ve is a Verizon exclusive.

You just need to pair the Maxx with another Bluetooth device...

music player buttons

Anyone know of a way to deactivate the music buttons, without locking the entire phone (apparently you cannot lock only the keypad).
I place the phone in my pocket (no case). When I sit, the speakphone or other side buttons are apparently pressed and the music activates.

Motorola Phone Tools and the Maxx Ve

I have the Motorola Phone Tools program, and it recognizes when I attach my phone to my computer, but it won't install it or even recognize the type. It let me pick from a list, and the Maxx Ve wasn't even on it, yet it's the most up-to-date list from Moto. My computer itself picks it up, though; when I first plug it in one of those bubbles pops up and says "New hardware detected - Maxx Ve".

Has anyone been able to actually hook this phone to the computer and get it to work?

Yes. Moto Phone Tools v4.51c does NOT contain the Maxx Ve profile!! i.e. the detect.inf no longer lists Maxx Ve. I...

Not found on latest.. so everytime th ePC ask to go online and update I have to say cancel.

I have used both the USB and also the BT connections. When it works, it works great with the calendar...

So what gives, Ham Whacker?

On this site at the following link - fm=m&ff=1008&fi=1167538 - you say you've been trying the L7e and the RIZR Z3 from T-Mobile and that you "want to get the new L72 so bad," ...
I've compared the MAXX and 8300 side by side:

The MAXX wins in the following areas:
-Better reception
-Better sound quality
-Better screen
-Better camera
-Better speakerphone
-Better build quality/materials

The 8300 wins in the following a...

The MAXX VE and the NEw RAZR2 V9M are basically the same phone but different design, same software. Whats the point.

I pray these phones get hacked to install java one day.

MAXX Quality Control = very inconsistent

I've had the phone for nearly a month now and really enjoy it. The overall build quality, reception, sound quality, screen quality are great. That said, I've been through 4 of them and may be getting a fifth. There are major issues with quality control and I've never seen so many problems. Below you will find the problems I've encountered. Most have been directly related to the keypad or the hardware.

-Left soft key was messed up
-Text messages would freeze 5-7 seconds before the sending window popped up

-The outer screen flipped upside down on occasion
-The phone would reboot during some picture messages and when launching the speakerphone

-Battery life was bad
-Ringtones didn't always play correctly
Thanks, GuyinLACA.

I have had the Maxx for nearly the same amount of time, and like it a lot as well. While getting ringtones to it is a hassle, everything else works on it.

My only reservation is the slight gap on the sides of the phone near t...

I'm very nice to the reps and I clearly show them why I'm concerned. At this point, I have one that freezes when I launch the camera, so I'm going to another store and asking about a replacement. If I have anymore problems, I'm going straight to Motor...
I wanted to give an update. I'm now on MAXX #7.

MAXX #5:
-Flawless software (never once froze)
-Hinge was perfect
-Battery life issues
-Totally different screen (color reproduction/brightness was different)
-Keypad loosened up and buttons got ...
I have the LG VX8700 and can say its a great phone. I learned my lesson with Motorola a few years ago. They have horrible quality control. I made the switch to LG a couple of years ago and never looked back. I would give the 8700 a shot.
that is why as a rep i push lg products, the quality control between the two manufacturers is night and day. I like some of the moto models but as many problems out there with the razr, razr maxx, krazr, it is not worth the headache to have these thin...
You wouldn't drive a Chinese car would you? I had almost the exact same issues with the E815. Probably went through 10 of them. Pure junk.

Ringtones sound off

I just got my Maxx Ve, and I don't know if it is my phone, or if I am just used to how my last phone sounded, but the ringtones sound, well, "off" to me. I previewed a couple from Get It Now that I had on my last phone, and I know they will sound different on different phones, but they sounded REALLY different. Has anyone else had this problem? Confused

Also, I never seem to hear the phone ring if it's in my purse or jacket pocket, even on the highest volume. My last phone I could here from two rooms away - is this a common thing with the Maxx? Confused

Yes, you can use the speaker with the phone closed, and if you have the phone set for speaker you can answer an incoming call by holding the small button on the left side of the phone below the volume rocker.

Remember, the speaker and microphone a...

Motorola Mazz Ve Owner Not Too Happy

I upgraded from a Motorola E-815 and wished I didn't. My 815 was trashed so I had no choice. Don't get me wrong I am not saying this phone is junk by any means its just not improvement that I thought it would be. First of all the software that the Verizon uses on this phone is horrible. First of all the font size used certain areas is so small can hardly read it. There is no auto complete in the text message function, just this thing call iTAP: its useless! I don't do music videos and all that so I can't comment. Battery life is an oxymoron. I use it for work, sometimes have to charge it two or three time per day. I use the Weather Channel quite a bit on Get-It-Now since Accuweather is not offered on this phone. In some of the menu screen th...

Ringtone - need help with last step

So I can trim an mp3 to less than 30 sec/300 kb, change the file extension to .qcp, and email it to myself a a pix message attachment, and then receive it.

But then what do I do ? I can listen to the attachment, and there is a "save sound" option, but not a "save as ringtone" option. If I save the sound, it does not appear in my ringtone list, bu in "my sounds". How do I get it to be a ringtone ?

It will automatically become a ringtone. There is no save as Sound option.

Recently, MP3 files got saved as Sounds and QCP files got saved as Ringers, however something changed on the network last month.

Keypad is not plastic

Article says "When open, the Ve looks less unique. While the screen is bigger than the V3m's, the keypad looks identical. Rather than sporting a metal finish the keypad is plastic, with white lines separating the keys from one another."

The screen is much bigger in resolution, not physical size and the keys are not plastic. I do miss the metal touch though. The black coating does make the keypad feel cheap compared to the other RAZR phones, but I love the rubberized coating on the body which is durable and more scratch resistant.
