I upgraded from a Motorola E-815 and wished I didn't. My 815 was trashed so I had no choice. Don't get me wrong I am not saying this phone is junk by any means its just not improvement that I thought it would be. First of all the software that the Verizon uses on this phone is horrible. First of all the font size used certain areas is so small can hardly read it. There is no auto complete in the text message function, just this thing call iTAP: its useless! I don't do music videos and all that so I can't comment. Battery life is an oxymoron. I use it for work, sometimes have to charge it two or three time per day. I use the Weather Channel quite a bit on Get-It-Now since Accuweather is not offered on this phone. In some of the menu screen th... (continues)
Article says "When open, the Ve looks less unique. While the screen is bigger than the V3m's, the keypad looks identical. Rather than sporting a metal finish the keypad is plastic, with white lines separating the keys from one another."
The screen is much bigger in resolution, not physical size and the keys are not plastic. I do miss the metal touch though. The black coating does make the keypad feel cheap compared to the other RAZR phones, but I love the rubberized coating on the body which is durable and more scratch resistant.
I don't understand the logic that Motorola uses when it comes to the phones for Verizon. The CDMA versions of the Razr and Razr2 all have downgraded components. The display has fewer colors and the processor is slower compared to the GSM versions. Look over the specs for the VM8,VM9 and VM9m. I can accept that installed memory is more or less as long as it can take a microSD card but why downgrade the display and processor? I was anxious to see what the maxx Ve would have in terms of hardware but was disappointed when it was released with a 65K color display. Does anyone know the answer?
Personally I had the Maxx Ve for about two weeks and went back to the LG VX9900.. The Motorola V3M actually has a better UI than the Maxx and is faster in a lot of ways as well as having disappointing picture quality from the camera the Maxx suffered from text lag. Every time I would attempt to text the program would freeze up. I took the phone to my local Verizon Dealer and they said it needed a firmware update but none was available as of yet for the phone. I would definitely wait till the V9M (Razr 2) comes out or wait for the LG VX8850 to come out before investing in the Maxx VE.
