Motorola Shareholders to Vote on Google Acquisition Nov. 17
Motorola Mobility today announced that it will hold a shareholder meeting on November 17 in order to give investors the opportunity to vote on the proposed acquisition by Google. Google announced on August 15 its intent to buy Motorola for $12.5 billion.
Broadcom Proposes to Oust Qualcomm's Board
Broadcom today suggested Qualcomm's shareholders elect an entirely new board of directors during the latter's planned annual shareholder meeting on March 6, 2018. Broadcom took the opportunity to nominate 11 people to replace Qualcomm's board.
Motorola Moto E4 Plus Goes On Sale Aug. 3 for $180
Motorola today said the Moto E4 Plus, which it announced in June, will reach various sales channels later this week. The unlocked variant will be available from Amazon, Best Buy, B&H, Fry's, Newegg, and Motorola.com starting August 3 for $180.
Lenovo to Slash 3,200 Jobs After Motorola Sales Slide
Lenovo today said it plans to reduce its headcount by as many as 3,200, or about 10%, as it looks to reduce expenses. The company reported earnings and said sales across its various business units dropped by 9% during the quarter.
Google Brings Back Motorola's Osterloh to Head Hardware Unit
Rick Osterloh, former CEO of Motorola, is returning to Google in order to run the company's new hardware division, which includes Nexus and Chromecast. Osterloh left Lenovo last month.
