AT&T Update Boosts Upload Performance for Atrix, Inspire
AT&T today made two separate software updates available to the Motorola Atrix 4G. The updates, which need to be installed via Wi-Fi (and in the proper order), provide a number of bug fixes and performance improvements. The most significant performance improvement is that the update finally turns on the Atrix's HSUPA capabilities, which will provide for faster mobile data uploads. AT&T is also providing a similar update to the HTC Inspire 4G. The Inspire 4G's update fixes bugs and also enables the HSUPA radio for faster data uploads. Both devices shipped with the HSUPA radios inactive. AT&T said further refinement of the software was needed before the faster data radios could be turned on.
More Carriers and Phone Makers Agree to Adopt Google's RCS-Based 'Android Messages' Service
Google today said more wireless network operators and handset manufacturers will use Android Messages, its RCS-based messaging service, as the default SMS/MMS tool on their phones. (Android Messages was previously known as Google Messenger.) Some of the features of RCS, which is a global standard, include group chat, high-resolution photo sharing, advanced calling features, and read receipts.
HTC 10 Picks Up Security Update, Bug Fix
HTC has begun pushing a minor update to unlocked variant of the HTC 10 smartphone. According to the change log, the update adds the latest security patches, fixes some bugs, and improves system stability.

AT&T today released a minor system update for the HTC One (M8). The software, which can be downloaded and installed over the air, updates the phone to Android 4.4.4 KitKat and makes a handful of improvements.

Alcatel Pushing Performance Update to Idol 3
Alcatel OneTouch today began delivering a system update to the 5.5-inch version of the Idol 3 smartphone. The improved system fixes bugs in the Snapchat, Facebook Messenger, and the Camera FV-5 apps; and also adds support for IPv6 and improves the general performance and responsiveness of the phone.
