It was recently disclosed that T-Mobile was going to start requiring customers to pay their first months service upfront, then pay for their regular service one month prior to actually using it.
That alone wouldn't concern me but due to their failed attempt to sell to ATT and their fleeing customer base I suspected they were going to become a pre-paid service only.

I think the salesman was trying to meet a quota, at least his quota. I cannot recall a smartphone whose price increased several months after the release date. Of course there are pre-order discounts at time but after that the price typically declines.
I would hold off if I were you. There are other phones on the horizon in the first and second quarter of 2012 that will drastically decrease the prices of this phone, in my opinion anyway.

At T-Mobile(Oct 9th)I was told the phone is available only to hearing impaired customers at this point and would probably be available in about one month to other consumers.

I was told the same thing, special order only and not yet available for upgrades only new contract customers. Then I called to basically complain about the selection of handsets available and before I started voicing my disapproval the rep. told me that Monday the Nokia 6133 will be available but supplies are limited and demand is high. I specifically asked if it would be available for existing customers upgrading and she placed me on hold, returned and said ...

I just called T-Mobile to find out and was told it is "being released on October 9th by special order only." I then inquired about the price and they said they didn't have it yet, so I guess Monday they will know if they are selling them then?
