My only concern is the name and number becoming public and ending up getting solicitations. I thought Verizon was holding firm on keeping there mobile numbers private.

Name came up on Caller ID
Feb 8, 2011, 9:30 PM
in the Verizon forum

My son just called my land line from his Verizon Cell and his name and number came up on my caller ID. Sense when do the names come up? This is the first time its happened. I called my own land line from my cell and mine still just says "cell phone" with the state.

why do "long time loyal customers" think the phone purchase rules at Verizon are supposed to be different for the Iphone then any of there other new releases? This concept has been mind blowing :o .. The Iphone is supposed to have different rules? I keep reading "Long time loyal" over and over on boards and Facebook, and its not gonna change the new phone purchase plan that Verizon or any other carrier has.

I know people LOVE there Iphones, but they never give comparisons. Its cultish. 8O I would love to hear actual comparisons, like side by side, Iphone pro's and con's and android pro's and con's in a nutshell.

thanks Menno. Thats what I wanted to know.. Would be a crappy surprise after a purchase.. Azeron, I can see the hot spot being attractive with a palm considering it would save $50 a month otherwise spent on a MIFI, but too many negatives to even balance that out.

I would love to know all the phones that are not compatible with Backup Ass. from people that know. I could spend all day reading reviews on Verizon's web site to find out but thought this may be easier. Am I correct that the Palm's and the Kin's are not compatible? Are ALL the LG's compatible?

thanks for clearing up the misunderstandings. I was not doing a very good job of doing it. I actually dont think many people realized those palm phones had this "free"(up to 5 gig) feature,

Re: MiFi
Nov 1, 2010, 4:44 PM

Exactly, but with the old Palm pre and pixi can also be used like the MiFi.

Re: Palm attempting a comeback with Verizon?

in the Verizon forum

you are misunderstanding. The palm pre smart phone can also be used as a wi-fi hot spot. (use up to 5 wireless devises at a time) Just like verizons MI-FI card. With the MIFI you get 5 gig for 59.99 a month. with the palm pre, while using it as a hot spot, you also get 5 gig, but at not extra cost. hot spot ......as in using your laptop or what ever.

yea, Wifi. right now verizon offers it with the palm pre and pixi. Using the MiFi its 59.99 a month. So its an attractive incentive.

wonder if Verizon will offer the hot spot use free up to 5 gig like they do with the pre and pixi now.

Thank you for clearing it up for me. This would be my first smart phone. The reviews for the pre & pixi are not great, but for a first timer I guess I wont know any better? Hope I dont regret it. I like small phones and The X is kinda big and paying $150.00 would defeat my purpose here. (getting rid of the MiFi)

I keep reading that the service is an extra $40.00 but I also here its free on the palm but $40.00 on the droid X. Can someone clear this up? I want to ditch my MI FI for the same service on the palm if its free. I'll even pay the early termination fee. $59.99 is killing me.

Does what I am thinking make sense considering the smart phones have unlimited data for 19.99 a month and I am paying 59.99 a month for the air card?

I have my phone and the MI-Fi broadband card. I would like to get rid of the MI-FI if there is a smart phone that works as a hot spot for my laptop also. Does Verizon have this?

I'v had mine for about 5 weeks now and am now just getting used to it, and likeing it. some of the flaws like the key guard defaulting back to 7 seconds, does not happen with mine, so they may have fixed that problem. Also when replying to a text from the front screen my mode does not default back to ABC. Thank god, that would drive me NUTS!

the cruise line says $2.49 a min. Even if someone calls and leaves you a voice message and you do not answer. Its still been routed through the satellite and you are still charged. You would want to keep your phone turned off unless you have a planned in coming call at a planned time.. :o I bet there is verizons roaming free on top of that $2.49 a min. I have the NORTH Americas choice with no roaming, ...

A 15 year old WITHOUT TEXT messaging on his phone? You can bet your bottom dollar he figured out a way to get it. Teens CANT live without text. Most likely he knows someone that works at verizon.. my son's friend worked in one of the stores and made changes to my phone which was in MY NAME!
