Discontinued?
My daughter has a Fusic that's acting flakey. I was thinking I would replace it with a Muziq, but I don't see it on Sprint's web pages. Has it been discontinued?
Install applications *not* through t-mobile app store?
Perhaps the main reason I haven't bought an iPhone is the restrictive policies apple has about application distribution.
If you write an application and I want to install it on my phone, I can't unless you submit it to apple and apple approves it and puts it on their app store. (Or I jailbreak my phone.)
As we have seen, apple has refused to distribute developers' applications when they don't like them, such as when they think they overlap with the ...
Replaceable battery?
I haven't read this anywhere. Is the battery on the G1 replaceable?
One year agreements
raycarroll70, is this a new policy? As recently as about 4 months ago, I got a one year agreement from Sprint on my Treo 700p. You have to pay slightly more for the phone, but the one year agreements were available.
It seems like a big risk to have a two year agreement when the technology is changing so fast.
Never mind
After further checking, it appears that the software version on the two phones are both 09 -- the same version.
I was confused by different themes and display settings making me think it was a new software version. Sorry about the false alarm.
New software version
I bought a Fusic for my daughter when they first came out. In general, she has been very happy with it except for weirdness about repeating message alerts.
Yesterday, I bought a second phone for my son. The software on the new phone is visibly much newer and seems much more polished. I'm mentioning it here because early Fusic owners may want to see if they can get their phones flashed with the new software.
The phone I ...
Yes
There is a standard headphone jack on the right side near the hinge.
The phone comes with a stereo headphone that can be used for playing music or making phone calls.
(The phonescoop feature grid mistakenly says that this phone doesn't have a headphone jack.)

Re: vibrate...?
My daughter reports the same problem.
I just turned off the setting that means "alert when losing signal" in the hopes that that was the problem.

Re: mp3s form computer
I've done this and it works well, though I didn't use the phone's USB cable to do it. Instead, I just put the transflash (microSD) card in the SD-adapter, and put it into an SD card reader on my computer. The disk mounts like a disk drive and I just drag MP3s onto it.
Re: Repeating alerts?
Thank you very much, timdenner. I don't know how I missed this.
Re: Is Fusic compatible with Mac?
You can always take the card out and mount it on your Mac via a card reader and just drag music files to it.
Additionally, you should be able to copy music to it via Bluetooth. I've successfully copied files to the Fusic from a powerbook using bluetooth.
Re: bluetooth
I have only tried connecting from my Mac to the fusic and was very pleased.
From the mac, I was able to browse the phone and see media like pictures and then transfer pictures from the phone to the Mac. I don't recall whether I was only seeing the filesystem on the card or whether other portions of the phone were visible as well.
The transfer was a little flakey a few times, and I had to restart it. ...
Repeating alerts?
So far I really like this phone. I bought it for my daughter and it seems to do just about everything well. Using the FM transmitter is really slick in the car.
I can even browse the content on the phone via bluetooth from my Macintosh -- something I can't even do with my Treo 700p.
One thing I can't figure out: is there a way to make an audible alert repeat if a text message comes in ...
Re: FM Transmitter/Stereo Bluetooth
I would presume that you could use the FM transmitter to transmit any music you could play directly from the phone, not just songs from the music store. I.e. if you had MP3s on your Transflash card, you could send them to the fm transmitter.
Another post in this forum said that they had read that you couldn't send music streamed from sirius to the FM transmitter, but he was somewhat skeptical whether it was true.
Re: Questions about the specs
Thanks for the clarification (and the correction of the battery life), Rich.
Questions about the specs
I did a phonescoop feature comparison to the MM-A900 and the RAZR v3c and am confused by a few of the specs of the LX-550.
The standby time of the RAZR is listed as 215hrs (9 days) while the standby time of the LX-550 is listead as 8 hrs (0.3 days). Why the big discrepancy?
The RAZR and the A900 are listed as "data capable" while the LX-550 isn't. Doesn't it seem strange that a new Bluetooth phone ...
