3G In Omaha!?!?!
I've noticed AT&T flipped the 3G switch in Lincoln which is fantastic! The dorks at the Apple store said 3G would be switched on by the end of the year, but anyone have any insight as to the date? I understand it will launch when it's ready, but just curious. Thanks!

Hey Yep - that happens to me as well. When I first started using cell phones I had t-mob and that very same thing happened. Not so much as when I was on VZW, but it happens. May be a GSM thing (oh all in the Bay Area, mostly San Francisco).
My question for you is that if you're in RF how do you not know the answer to your own question??? Not trying to be ...

ug! Thanks, Mark. I was afraid of that. I do have the Pearl now, but looking in the future for a 3G BB. Not interested in the other 3G PDA's. Well, lets just keep our fingers crossed!

Dood, I really don't know. I thought it was because Cingular inherited AT&T Wireless' network and sold their old network to T-Mobile here in California and Nevada, but you're in Washington so we can throw that theory out the window. Maybe it's a population thing. The AT&T towers may not be programmed or juiced up enough to handle the capacity. I was just in Milwaukee over the Memorial Day Weekend and Cingular worked perfectly actually. ...

Sgt, you're here then there! You're everywhere! If the Bay Area would be the market to judge this then the answer is no. Verizon's network is quality. Not sure if it's a tower thing or a GSM vs. CDMA thing. There are pros and cons to both. As it stands where i live Verizon's network is better. And here i am giving my money to AT&T. wtf? :lol: :roll:

Hahaha! You could have fooled me! You're right about the customer service tho. I live in the Bay Area and AT&T's network is not very "strong" out here. Coverage - yes, quality of network - no. Elsewhere - good. Me - done. Uga Uga! :P

K, obivously sgt joker works for Verizon, so here is a non-biased opinion. I too have been an AT&T customer for about 3 months and I came from Verizon. Here's the deal - insurance on phones is a waste of $$$. The Curve is going to be $199 with a 2-year contract. I would go into an AT&T store and try your best to re-up your contract.

The curve is the GSM only phone with 2-megapixel camera, whereas, the 8830 is the GSM/CDMA hybrid version of At&t's 8800.
The Curve probably won't be available for Verizon for a while. RIM usually gives the GSM carriers first shot then CDMA & vice versa with the Treos.

Yep you can totally use your phone for minute rates listed by country, BUT if you are going to use a prepaid SIM make sure your phone is unlocked! Just sticking any old SIM in your phone will NOT work. ...

You would think that being in San Francisco we would have off the charts great coverage. Yes, you do get signal everywhere, (so here's where I probably didn't clarify) but the QUALITY of the signal is poor. ...

Will probably be switching to Cingular pretty soon here and would like to wait for WM6 devices, but obviously not available yet. Have always been a Treo fan so just making sure that before I get the 750 I know it can be upgraded to WM6. Thanks, everyone!

Hey Wireless. Yeah I remember those good ol days. I was on that plan, but i don't think the offer included data (not that data was a big thing then). And adding the cell site page is great too, just like T-Mobile's personal coverage locator...

Pantech 820....hmmm. Now I'm sure that doesn't have a touchscreen. I'm just so used to it that I don't think I could go back to point and click again. It's nice that it's small, but I do like the full keyboard as well. It's all personal preference. Geez, I might as well wait for the next treo to come out..I know I'll miss the bugginess, freeze ups, random resets.....

Good call, BUT here's the thing. Doesn't look like it doesn't use the new Crossbow ( I could be wrong) and those HTC's are soooo flippin huge! I haven't seen any specs on the Libra, but looks larger than my brick treo 700. Getting sick of the size. Do tell more...

Just saw on phonearena that Verizon is coming out with 3 new smartphones. 2 by UT Starcom and one by Samsung, BUT the Samsung is the only one of the 3 that's sporting the upgraded version of Windows Mobile dubbed Crossbow. Does anyone know what's upgraded??? Hopefully, screen resolution. If anyone knows please let me know! Thanks!

Have you visited T-Mobile's coverage locator page? I'm addicted to it! Gives you spot-on coverage! When is Verizon going to do this??? I mean, Verizon's coverage is superior, but it's a fun, useful tool. Anyone have any idea when or if it's coming? Thanks!
