LG Prime and Bluetooth drops out when using headphones

I have a LG Prime I just bought. The bluetooth search from my Garmin finds it fine and works great for hands free. However if I want to listen to the music player through the headphone jack on the LG prime the bluetooth comes disconnected as soon as I plug the earphones in, anybody know what this problem is.
