The screen. It is always breaking. I have had 3 of these, each the screen has gone out on them, and it has beenn normal use.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Unfortunately, it was only on the market for a short amount of time, so when I needed to replace mine, it wasn't being sold anymore.

PROS:
-The Sprint menu we all know
-Music store that was easy to use
-Front keys easy to use for music
-Great keyboard
-Easy to use
-Came with colored faceplates
-Good sound

CONS:
-Slow internet
-Bad camera

I loved this phone and I would have had it longer, but I had an accident with orange juice. :/
Amazing phone, I wish it was still on the market, considering the new Muziq is a terrible follow-up.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ElTriste submitted this review of the LG Fusic / LX-550:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

When I managed a 3rd party sprint store, and heard about this awesome phone with FM tansmitter, I immediately ran to the nearest corporate store, and checked it out. It seemed pretty decent, the screen wasn't bad, it had the one thing my blade didn't have that I desperately wanted...external memory. Years go by and my blade finally calls it quits (camera died, and battery wouldn't last half a day, and if I made a phone call...) And the radioshack I worked at had a fusic in the back. With my one year upgrade, I paid a whole 5 dollars in tax for my fusic, not a bad deal right? After a couple of months, I wish I still had my rebates to grab the instinct when it comes out, because the fusic has been almost as frustrating as the 225 I previously owned! The screen is terrible for a phone of this magnitude, and my T9 has went completely haywire!!! The mp3 and fm transmitter still work great, but I can't for the life of me get the stereo bluetooth to work. As much as I looked forward to owning this phone when it came out...I still miss my blade, and wishing it had external memory.

PROS:
+ FM transmitter, albeit staticy, is a pretty convenient feature in a city where there are 2 stations I can deal with, and even they suck sometimes
+external memory: I can finally store a decent amount of songs I download from sprint when a song pops into my head
+battery life: AMAZING, even when I use my mp3 player, talking, texting, ALL day, I still have battery life when I get home
+ GPS nav: Another thing I really wanted that my blade couldn't do, it's saved my @ss many times

CONS:
+ external speaker blows. It distorts, and the speaker phone leaves alot to be desired
+T9: although it's a learning one, there's been some software glitch somewhere that turns my smileys into .1000
+Sprint TV: WAY TOO QUIET!!! I don't know why, but on my blade, it was perfect, on this, it's impossible to hear it unless you're in complete silence
+sprint barrel plug...broken like the rest...

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

rivercity submitted this review of the LG Fusic / LX-550:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I've always used cell phones strictly for calls and never bothered to get an MP3 player, so the Fusic's music player is a cool new toy for me. I bought a 2GB microSD card and copied a lot of music from my PC with the USB cable. (Although the manual says the Fusic only takes up to a 1GB card, I read reports that with the newest firmware it works with 2GB. So far it's been great.) I half expected the FM transmitter to work poorly, based on some reviews, but it works quite well for me, especially at home. In the car (Mazda 626 with the antenna in the back window) it can sometimes be a little shaky, but usually it's fine.

As far as the basics go, reception, battery life, and call clarity are good. Menus are generally laid out pretty well, so I don't have to spend a lot of time looking for something. I did switch to list mode, as I didn't care for the grid, but since I've customized the Shortcuts and the Favorites list, I never seem to go to the main menu anyway.

I haven't used the texting or Internet functions and probably never will. I spend many hours on email and the Web on my PC every day, and I have no interest in carrying those things with me on a cell phone. I do appreciate the Net Guard feature, which means I don't have to worry about connecting accidentally and running up charges.

I haven't had much luck with the camera so far, which seems to need fairly bright light and a very steady hand to take a decent pic. I expect it will help to practice and figure out the best way to hold the phone when using it as a camera.

The one con for me is display legibility. I'm sure the target audience for the phone is too young to have even heard of presbyopia, and menu and display fonts are small. Also, in both display themes that come with the phone, text on the basic screens (time, date, etc.) is black with a thin white line around it, which I find a bit hard to read unless it's on a white background.

That's a minor quibble, though, for an overall great phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Static submitted this review of the LG Fusic / LX-550:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

This phone is fantastic. It's a shame that it is now officially discontinued, as its successor, the LG Muziq, isn't nearly as enjoyable of an experience. This phone just feels right. From its tactile buttons to the overall feel, it is a joy to handle. Everything just seems to work. The included multiple faceplates is a nice touch and the customizable themes, although limited, is nice to see for a change.

Pros:

+ The display is fantactically clear and vibrant.

+ Sound is very nice, as it should be for this type of phone.

+ Beautiful finish.

+ Bluetooth works very well.

+ The camera is absolutely flawless. It is VERY fast and highly responsive to movement and the flash is perfect.

+ An overall solid build.

Cons:

- The menu, while mostly very competent and easy-to-use, has a few areas that seem a tad more convoluted that what they should have been. But, this is a minor issue that in no way detracts from the phone.

Obviously, this is another winner from LG. You won't be disappointed.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The first one I had kept freezing and messing up on the picture mail. So I got a new one and it is still horrible.

Pros
-FM transmitter
-clear pics
-cam with flash

Cons
-picture mail freezes up
-doesn't hold a signal
-not great battery life
-antenna stub
-speaker phone isn't that loud

All in all I think sprint is just horrible too. Maybe that is why I don't like the phone too much

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

jbadger72 submitted this review of the LG Fusic / LX-550:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

After working in the wireless arena for several years and having had access to several different manufactures and models I would have to say that I'm not really impressed. The Fusic/LX-550 has a horrible speaker phone. Volume is way to low and garbled. The mp3 player is decent but once again the sound quality is not the greatest or even good and volume is too low. The FM transmitter is just plain horrible, you have to hold the antenna and use you bodies natural radio wave to get you FM receiver to even pick up the signal. The battery life is below average especially compared to any Nokia phone but better than the average Motorola. Sprint sure has intended for you to spend tons of time and money getting ring tones from their on-line store because the standard ring tone just Stink. The truth is if the phone hadn't been FREE when I purchased my new line I would have bought this handset.

Now if I wasn't a phone guru so to speak then I would say for the average person this phone would not be much of a disappointment. My expectations tend to be extremely high due to experience in the wireless industry.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Emento submitted this review of the LG Fusic / LX-550:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

This is the best phone I have had yet. It is not the best phone out there, but I have to say it is much better than some. I really like the large internal screen and the music is very clear on it. Although I find that if you are changing the volume during playing music it can get a little choppy. Battery life is also good(if you are not in a dead zone). If you are looking for a phone that is easy to customize and listen to music the this is you type of phone.

Pros:
Nice volume
Easy music upload.
Very easy to customize
Easy keypad

Cons:
Bluetooth is limited
Camera sometimes takes blurry images.
SMs can be cumbersom
Battery drains superfast when you hit a dead zone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

koyga submitted this review of the LG Fusic / LX-550:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I've worked for Sprint/Cingular for a while now. I've used a LOT of phones so I believe I know what to look for in a phone.

Pro's:
-Reception: This phone has served me well through several states (as good as possible with Sprint). Can usually dial out no matter what. Switches networks quick if out of EVDO area so you have no "call lag".
-Size: It's not too big and it's not irritatingly small (see Pantech C3) nor irritatingly thin while being extremely wide and awkward to hold (see RAZR).
-Battery Life: My usual talk time on the phone is around 4-5 hours depending on availability of network and signal strength. Standby is great. Good power saving features. I've heard a lot of people complain about this phones battery. It's excellent compared to most new phones.
-Call Quality: Very high. I can hear people clearly and they can hear me just as good. Every LG I've owned has had good call quality/receivability. Keep it coming Lucky Goldstar.
-Screen Size/Resolution: Very nice main display. I've been very pleased. Good size font for me and it always looks sharp. Sub display leaves a little to be desired but still nice.
-Bluetooth: Never have pairing problems with any headsets/headphones. Strong connection. I love the A2DP profile (headphones). Since this was one of the first phones to carry the feature, I didn't expect much. But, after using I have to say I'm impressed. Good sound quality. Sometimes buggy, but that's to be expected on first time firmware.

Con's (not many and no big deal):
-Texting: Occasionally the phone likes to throw in words for no apparent reason when using T9 predictive text. I usually cure this by deleting all messages in the phone as it seems to pull them from older messages. It's like the phone is trying to learn how you text. Cool but mostly annoying.
-Display(s): They both get lint behind the protective plastic casing. Not a lot and I quit caring after a while. I'm not THAT anal. Most phones will do this over time.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

heymargo submitted this review of the LG Fusic / LX-550:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

i love this phone. i do. it's just the coolest thing ever but it's far from perfect. i got it 2 days after it debuted (june of 2006) and still have it but not without heartache.
pros:
lightweight, cute, easily spotted in the bottom of a black purse, interchangeable faceplates that coordinate with the tons of themes i've purchased, AWESOME battery life, great ringtone volume, and the coolest feature of all is the fm transmitter!!!
but, as we all know, nothing is perfect.
cons:
javascript errors caused random reboots, powerjack became loose causing status light and power indicator to flash/beep relentlessly when charging, speaker static on a couple of different replacements and the latest snafu is that my (brand new) replacement turns off randomly when closed. i am on my 9th replacement. NINE!!! but because i am haplessly addicted to the fm transmitter and use it daily, i keep going back for more. i've heard that others don't have any issues with their fusics but for some reason, i do. if it wasn't for my insurance, i'd be furious. everyone at the sprint store knows us by name...we walk in and it's just like a scene from cheers. not good. my husband and i joke that going to the sprint store to get a replacement or have it fixed is our monthly date. sad but true. i just ordered yet another handset because, yet again, the phone is turning itself off randomly and this, mind you, is a BRAND NEW handset i got 4 days ago (started on my way home from sprint to pick up said handset). if you have the paitience of a saint, this phone is for you. if you are an unmedicated bipolar with a propensity for violence and throwing things, you might want to reconsider. if it wasn't for xanax and lithium, i probably would have shattered it, set it on fire and mailed the ashes back to lg within the first couple of months. but thanks to modern psychopharmacology, i have not been forcibly removed from the sprint store and no one has had to have a fusic-ectomy. yet.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

FM transmitter is king. I'm not a fan of LG at all, but I made an exception for the fusic and am not disappointed.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I will go 3 to 4 days and all of a sudden ALL my calls get thrown into voice mail and my phone gets hot and then the battery dies. I have to have sprint re-program it for it will work again. This is the second fusic, the first one was replaced a week after I got it!!!! And no its not the networking, there has been 3 service tickets put in already for that. They are sending me the new M510 samsung. I have been with sprint for 9 years and never had a issue like this with a phone, sprint told me personal this phone had a lot of issues! Look at the price, that tells all.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
