sosweet submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-T809 / SGH-D820:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

This phone was alright, but there were a few things I didn't like about it. First, the text message memory only held about 30 messages so I felt like i was deleting all of my messages at least 5 times a day probably more. Then, i didn't like the fact that every time i closed the phone, the lock was activated and i have to press the left side button, then OK. to be able to use the buttons on the front without opening the phone. I tried for so long to get that feature deactivated, but couldn't figure it out. Next, the battery life was terrible, could not hold a charge to save my life!! I had it for a while, but after about 6-7 months i was ready for a change!

Pros:
Great vivid colorful screen
Great picture frames
Good Reception

Cons:
Poor battery life

Keyguard that won't seem to deactivate

Video records smaller than actual screen size

Small text message memory

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

esmediaz2 submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-T809 / SGH-D820:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

This phone has been by far the best phone I've ever owned. I looked at the reviews before I bought my first one about 1 year ago. And I saw the negative reviews but I took a chance on it and the phone is awesome. I'm even buying another one because I accidently broke my first one :-(

I was going to buy another make and model but I couldn't find anything that compared to my samsung t809. It takes the best pictures, I just love it.

Another plus is that I am hard of hearing and this phone is so loud that you have to always be turning the volume down when you speak with someone.

It's a great phone. I can't wait to get my new one

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

friendly_cell submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-T809 / SGH-D820:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I've had my D820 for about 4 month and i like the phone very much. My provider is Rogers in Toronto, Canada and i have great reception with this phone. Much better than E900.(quad vs tri) here's my list of pros and cons.

pros
- the camera is so cool 1.3( easy to take self pics)
- the mp3 + expended memory.
- interface is easy to use.
- the phone is just great !

cons
- silde is rough (at least for mine)
- camera is a lil slow.

ENJOY the phone and i hope this msg is going to help someone

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

estephan500 submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-T809 / SGH-D820:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

as they all say, it's an amazing phone with a great design and incredible screen and strong features. I will only mention the strongest CONS here because the pros are too many and people repeat them endlessly.

Bad thing number one: If you wanted to sync with MICROSOFT OUTLOOK, i.e. your CALENDAR and your CONTACTS, then that is a big question. Phonescoop is incorrect when they say "YES" for that feature on their specs. The Samsung software that ships with the phone actually has the Outlook sync NOT function for this particular model. that was a bummer. HOWEVER, if it is important to you, then buy the third party phone syncing software called Datapilot. They say that they can do it. HOWEVER, NOTE: (a) if you are going to sync using bluetooth, BUY THEIR BLUETOOTH ADAPTER FOR YOUR COMPUTER. because their sync does not work with the default microsoft bluetooth, it wants WidComm or whatever that other fuller bluetooth system is. So buy Datapilot's bluetooth adapter unless you are certain that your bluetooth is widcomm (very much doubt that.) (b) if for some reason you're not thinking to sync using bluetooth but instead want to use a cable, BUY Datapilot's USB cable. their software doesn't work with the default samsung usb cable. they have some funky proprietary kind.

Bad thing number two: no voice dialing for those of us that really make use of a hands-free earpiece. Oh well! no huge deal.

I really am considering flashing the software into the d820, as described elsewhere on this forum and also around the posts on this site:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=890496&page=17&pp=15

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

pashomina submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-T809 / SGH-D820:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

When I first got this phone back in March, I was so happy with it. I loved how it slides and I think it looks really nice. Not cheap at all. But I started having problems with it after about six months. Sometimes when someone called me, it wouldn't let me answer it OR deny it. It just kept ringing. Also, sometimes when I end a call, it freezes and I have to take the battery out then put it back in because I can't do anything with it.

I sent it in to T-Mobile and they sent me another one (I had to pay the shipping, even though it wasn't my fault that the phone was being stupid) but this new one does the same things, only not as bad. I'm thinking that the model of phone is maybe a lemon. I'm just getting really frustrated so I bought a T509 off of e-bay so I can switch in and out.

Aside from these problems, I love the phone!

PROS:
Convenient slider
Awesome camera
MP3 player
T-Mobile is a great carrier
Nice large menu icons

CONS:
Freezes after calls and sometimes from- incoming calls
Short battery life
Low texting memory

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

BiGg RiE submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-T809 / SGH-D820:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Ok i've had this phone for almost a year and was seriously considering a new one until I flashed this phone to the D820 firmware about 2 months ago. Litterally everything I didn't like about the T809 is fixed by doing this:
~Acsending ringer = fixed
~Vibe & Ring together = fixed
~Lack of email client = fixed
~install of non-signed java apps = fixed
~Mp3 ringtones without renaming = fixed
~Unlock phone for use with any GSM carrier = fixed
~Can't turn off camera shutter sound = Fixed
~Asign different soft keys functions = fixed
and much more.

the only reason I gave this phone a 4.5 instead of a 5 is because of the lack of voice dailing on a phone that has a voice recorder, this doesn't make sense. and the battery life just plain sucks I'm luck if i get through one day of use without a recharge.

Oh, and i think the guys at phone scoop should do a seperate review for the D820 firmware because it is truely a completely different phone. Or at least note in the specs analasist the differences between the two firmwares. To simply put it in the title isn't enough. The D820 firmware truly shows how this phone was ment to be used.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I have had the phone since it came out and, I have "upgraded" it twice and still, I come back to my t809. It has a crystal clear LCD screen and, the camera is amamzing. The sound quality is excellent. I can hear my phone ringing while walking in downtown San Francisco during rush hour. It is very user friendly and, take a good beating to. Plus, this phone looks downright down dope with the sleek black finsh. The drawsback is battery life, I have to carry around my charger everwhere. Other than that, this is the best phone ever!

Tonylegend

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The reception is good, even when there is one bar on my phone, I can still hear the other person on the line just fine.

The 3 most annoying features about this phone are that the battery life is pretty short, it is difficult to slide open without putting your fingers all over the screen, and that it freezes/lags sometimes.

I got this phone through T-Mobile for a pretty good deal so although it's not perfect, I can't say that I feel jipped.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

If I flip open a phone then I often press a button by accident which annoys me. And I have only pressed a button twice on the T809.
It's better than the RAZR and the SLVR because those two can break easily.

Cons
I cannot find the Bluetooth.
The sliding is getting squeaky.
Some photos looked "smeared".
The web browser is slow.
I love the games but the sound is too high and I am having trouble lowering it.

It's a great phone but not the best. It's better than the D807 though for quality in photos and videos.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

nwahsnwahs018 submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-T809 / SGH-D820:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

Pros:
Slider
Looks Sweet, people always tell me how tight it looks
Camara takes good pictures (Put em on my computer, could EASLY put em up 4x6 and have it look just like a digital camara
Video takes exceptional video for a cell....looks great on my computer
Like someone else said, service bars can be deceving. I can have 0 bars, but still make a perfectly clear call
For some reason, my phone never breaks out....it will either not be able to make a call....or make crystal clear calls. The service is great...works better then my old Motorola (and they are known for having good service)
I accualy use this as my mp3 player, digital camara, and cell phone, and it can fill all those spots!
Battery isen't amazing, but nothing for me to complain about either!
I love the speakers, you can play large music

You can watch full screen, video.
Try the phone out, the screen, is like nothing i'v seen before....it is GREAT
It looks amazing outdoors, you can see it perfetly

Cons:
I have a new one coming (t-mobile is awesome) because my down button stopped working....but i'm getting a brand new on, no big deal
um...the sliding mechanism sort of loosens up after a little while. Not a big deal either, just expect it
Doesn't come with norm headphoen jack, but comes with nice headphones you can use with it, can also double as hands-free device

Overall, I have to say this is an awesome phone!! Defently worth the 150$ i droped on it....i also got a 1gb memory card...put a bunch of songs/music videos, and it tizzight!

(all u do, when watching a video, is press one, and it turns from a thumbnail, to a full screen vid, its amazing)

I was thinking about buying an extra batery, and putting a video or two, or 3 on the phone and watching it on an airplane ride....that would rock

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I'm the type of kid that is constantly playing with their cell pone and texing 24/7. but yet i still have full battery life at the end of the day.

MY PROS:
big screen
INSANELY clear camera
+ it swivels
mp3 player
tex/video/instant/picture messaging
loud speakers
video caller ID.
and speaker phone

MY ONLY CONS:
if you close the phone while your sending a TeX message it automatically puts it under drafts don't get me wrong it still sends (minor thing though)

Hope this helps you

oh and when your receiving a call the ring-tone does ascend you cant change this but i owned the nokia 6101 now there is a loud phone too loud it scared me or people around whenever it rang so i do like the ascending thing

sincerely
-Anthony Meza

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

willyum20 submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-T809 / SGH-D820:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I bought this phone as my first T-Mobile phone. I'm very happy with it so far. It's been about a month since I purchased it and I've only had a few very minor problems so far. It seems that everything works quite well as far as the software goes.

Pros:
*Great display, large and bright
*Much Better signal strength than my sprint phone
*Awesome Camera
*Memory Card slot and MP3 player are such an asset to me now that i have been able to utilize them.
*Speaker is crystal clear
*Slide mechanism is easy to use and feels very solid and stable
*everything loads instantly, there is almost no wait time at all
*Keypad is comfortable and keys a good size
*Video Quality is amazing

Cons:
*Short Battery life
*sometimes have to make 2 or more attempts before calls actually go through, although this is not very often and seems to be only happening in one area where i use it
*computer software is a little confusing at first glance

All in all:
A few minor fixes and this phone could very well be one of the best ones on the market right now. Like i said there are a few problems but they are all fairly minor and everything else on this phone more than makes up for the problems

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

beautifulstorm submitted this review of the Samsung SGH-T809 / SGH-D820:

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

I just bought this phone, but I am turning it back tomorrow. The whole "slider" idea scares me, and there is no real place to slide the phone up without getting fingerprints all over the screen. The Mp3 player caused me a major headache, first when I tried to load the software it said that it was not compatible with Windows XP, so I called T-Mobile and of course they put me on hold numerous times, then FINALLY after dealing with rude workers, I was transferred to the Samsung customer care, and they were closed! The T-Mobile representative who sent me there knew they were closed, yet she sent me there anyway. I figured out on my own that you have to download the XP software off of the Samsung website, but the whole "mp3 ringtone" was getting wayyyyyy to complicated. I only bought this phone becuase it included the memory card and the USB cable unlike the t609 which I had last week, but Im going to give up on the mp3 phones and purchase the Samsung t309. T-Mobile is realllllly starting to get on my nerves, but Im locked into the contract so I guess I have to deal.

-----Pros------

Bright Screen
Nice Camera
Slim

-----Cons------

Slider
Buttons too small (and I have small hands)
Creeks when opened after only a day
Have to Unlock it to do anything
Feels Fragile including the camera

I didnt get a chance to experience the dust problem like everybody else, but I can see where it could leak into the screen.....

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I believe I just got it last week and I have had no problems whatsoever. T-Mobile was very pleasant and everything went smoothly with the purchase. As for the phone I am also very pleased. As a 15 year old, the phone satisfies all my needs and more with ease. The infamous dust problem has not effected the phone in any way and I am VERY relieved. Although I have not had this phone very long, I am pretty sure I will be just fine with it.

Pros
-Sleek Appearance
-Easy Spring-Up Slide
-Nice Camera
-SO MANY OPTIONS, ringtones, backgrounds, layouts. I was overwhelmend with how many I had to choose from
-Good Sound
-Interesting Looking Games
-I am a newbie to T9 but this phone helped me master it in minutes.
-Phonebook is Nice
-Small
-Easy to use
-Nice Camera effects, mosiac, image editor
-Voice Notes
-MP3's can be used as ringers
-T-Mobile is very customer friendly.
Cons
-I don't like how the camera zooms out on things, like you could be very close to something, but when the picture is complete it is way farther back then how close you took it from.
-Charge holds a lot less longer than the Nokia I used to have but nothing to fret about.
-Finger print prone screen

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
