KeepNTouch submitted this review of the Sanyo MM-8300:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I got this phone back in 2005 and I was sold on Sprint and the phone's crystal clear sound quality. I was pleased to learn recently, that I could resurrect the phone, when another one was lost. It still works well for calling, basic texting, and as a camera taking pictures.. It's been dropped a few times but I wouldn't say it was abused. It's a solid performer.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

pamjam submitted this review of the Sanyo MM-8300:

Overall rating: 1.5 (out of 5)

I received this phone last October, and it worked great until early summer this year (probably late June). I noticed the sub-LCD wasn't lit and when I had an incoming call, there was no information displaying. So, I removed and reinserted the battery and thought that would solve the problem. It didn't. The "My Buddy" feature stopped working properly as well as the ability to end the call by closing the flip-top. I took the phone to a Sprint store, but I was told to pay $55 or call Sanyo. I called Sanyo, and I was told to send the phone to them. Of course, I would not have phone service (unless I used another phone). So, I still haven't sent the phone to Sanyo, and the display problems still occur. I am disappointed because some of the other features (sound, camera and video) work great. I will state that the phone has been dropped a few times and may have gotten wet...but still, the functionality of the display (lights, LCD, etc.) should work. I don't like the voice memo side key. Overall, it's not a bad phone, but it's not the best either.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Kay51189 submitted this review of the Sanyo MM-8300:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I got this little phone about a year ago and have put it through a beating. It has been dropped down stairs, thrown onto concrete, thrown against walls, and dropped on a daily basis. I also got it wet and at first the buttons did not work, but after a couple days to dry out it worked just like new. Other then some chipping paint and that the button to activate the outside screen had gotten a little bi-polar, the phone has been working great. I recently crushed it which broke the screen. It still works, you just cant see what is going on. If I could find this phone for cheap I would totally buy it again. I love it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I got it free through phone insurance! I originally had the Sanyo 8100. But that got dropped in water. But i got this phone Febuary 13, 2007. The signal strengh is amazing and the sound quality is great. I'm having a little trouble with the text messaging but that about it. And the battery life sucks. I would recommend this phone to any body!!! (except people who like to talk!)

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

jlibove submitted this review of the Sanyo MM-8300:

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

Pro: Good battery life, good reception

Cons: Not very rugged - easily damaged
Poor received sound

I've had cell phones since 1987, and have been using my MM-8300 for about 4 months. The MM-8300 does not seem to have the usual durability expected from a cell-phone, as ts LCD has already began developing internal cracks (with 60% of the view now lost) even though the entire case is without a blemish. I have been no rougher with it than with the other 10+ cell phones our family has had over the years, yet this is the only one that is failing so soon. Also, the received sound is considerably below average for a cell phone - I use a different cellphone for long or important calls. Sprint is our carrier.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I paid 50 for one and got the other free.

Pros
Camera with flash
ready link
clear speakerphone
bright large screen
sat radio

cons.

NONE.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It has a nice color display, internal and external. Battery life is also quite well. The only downfall that i dont like on this phone is the vga camera. Pictures taken on this phone dont compare at all to the sanyo 7500, which has a 1.3 mega pixal camera. The 7500 is a much better phone for only $20 more!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Laceyab submitted this review of the Sanyo MM-8300:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I love this phone from upgrading from the sanyo 8200 to this model its so much better. I love the speaker phone and the camera. The things that I don't really like is the fact that if you are in a loud setting such as work or in a store sometimes its very hard to hear the phone go off even if its on the highest volume of ringer. The only other thing that I don't really like is that it doesn't have that much memory, I download lots of ringers that use up memory and if it was possible to delete the default ringers on the phone it would free up lots of memory for more ringers and games to download. Overall its a great phone other than the previous things mentioned.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

2wdsux submitted this review of the Sanyo MM-8300:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

I upgraded to the 8300 from the 8200 because my 8200 was dropping calls, power cycling, etc. This was only after 7 months of usage. But I got an incredible deal on the 8300, and couldn't pass it up.

After 2 weeks, the phone began having its issues. During text messaging, the phone would lock up. After a minute, the screen would go blank, then say 'Looking for Service', then reconnect like nothing happened.

This happened about once every 50 text messages.

Then months passed, and it got worse. I take it to the Sprint store, and they basically tell me there's nothing 'they can see wrong with it'. Keep in mind I am a Nextel technician, and my manager used to work at said Sprint store. After he constantly bugged them to swap my phone for a brand new in box unit, they agreed. So I'm satisfied.

Three days later, this one does the same thing. Only it does it about twice a day. Now I send a lot of text messages (about 50-60 sent, 60-70 recieved per day), so you can imagine that this got aggravating. I paid to have it replaced through Lock/Line, and now I'm on the third one and still having the same problem. 2 of my friends experience this same issue on a much rarer occasion than I.

I'm thinking about dropping the $300-$400 on a new mm-9000, or the a-940 but I really don't want to have more problems.

Other than that, the phone has worked well, and I am sort of happy with it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I like the loud speaker phone and clear ready link service is awsome too . The sanyo 8300 is a nice phone for the price i paid $49.99 and its a great value for what the phone has for features its a multimedia phone . The sprint tv service is very good to watch on it especially for a cell phone i was amazed with it . I had sprint for 6 months and there service is improved alot too .I would highly recomend this phone to anyone .

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

gamer46290 submitted this review of the Sanyo MM-8300:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

PROs-

Lightweight
1) Loud speakerphone; Loud volume
2) Best pictures for a VGA camera phone i've ever seen; even better then boyfriends 1 megapixel camera
3) Video's are decent
4) Great reception with or without antenna extended
5) I personally like the "cute" features Screensaver, "little buddy" (kangaroo that runs around doing things on your main lcd and sub lcd) and the interchangable faceplates.

CONs-
1) I have sprint service, and the phone did not come packaged with an earbud, I've had phones from t-mobile, cingular, nextel, and never had a phone that it did not come with an earbud; doesn't bother me though because I can use speakerphone and when i'm not using my hands I don't like earbuds.
2) Also thought it was strange that it didn't come with any games, even my boyfriends samsung a920 came with demos.
3) If you want to get into the general con's then I guess you could include the fact that there is no bluetooth or expandable memory, but this is just a mid-entry phone, it's not to cheap with basic features, and it's not to expensive with advanced features.

For what the phone is worth, retail price or if you renew; get a new contract and you get the discounted price it is worth what you pay for, it does everything it is supposed to perfectly.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
