tgc1980 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon):

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I had an at&t Galaxy S3. No complaints there. Now that life happened and I'm on Verizon, I decided I want the same thing (I also have an iPhone [check my review for it], but there's no rule against having two lines). Walmart had it in brown (VZW doesn't have brown anymore, so I got lucky). Other than icons mysteriously dissapearing and the one time I was in 3G when I should have clearly been in 4G LTE, this phone is a beast. While the S4 looks appealing, I saw no major difference between the two. Go get one! I love this phone so much that I have a spare sitting in a box in case my clumsy behind breaks this one.

God bless,
tgc1980

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

cbb1430 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon):

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I've had this phone for just over a month and I'm still loving it... I get bored easily with new gadgets so this is an accomplishment. I did have a problem when I first got the phone--it just decided at about 7pm every evening to stop sending and receiving texts. After over an hour with tech support on the phone and 2 hours in-store with a tech, they replaced the phone because there was no reason for the phone to be behaving as such (this was under the 14 day return period, so I got a new phone not refurbished)

As of right now, it's running 4.1.1 and Verizon hasn't said when 4.1.2 is coming. (The leaked version of 4.1.2 doesn't seem to include Premium Suite like everyone else's. IDK, but that's what other articles online are saying, hopefully that's not true for the final release or it's not worth updating to).

Pros:
fabulous camera--the burst shot helps get those action shots other cameras miss (so handy since I have active kids!)
I haven't had any dropped calls, even with the lower signal at my house. (seriously, I get -112 to -107dBm most of the time here which is HORRIBLE)
Super fast response from phone when I pull up an app.
The motion features are great, I don't use all of them but the ones I do eliminate issues I've had in the past (such as it knows when I'm laying down and looking at the phone) You can mute the phone simply by laying it face down--it's a great feature!

Cons:
There's a common glitch I have... message tones won't play all the way through after a while--the remedy is to clear out all your messages and it will play again. A small annoyance, but one I can live with--others may not.
You can customize your lock-screen icons, but you can't customize what is in your notification panel--this is supposed to be a part of the 4.1.2 update though.
You can no longer go into app manager to move apps to the sd card but that seems to be with most phones. You CAN do it though file manager, but you wind up with multiple copies of everything after a while.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Brettx79 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon):

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I have had this phone for several months now and i live on the south shore of Massachusetts (a relatively populated area). This phone has an amazing screen, is great for games, movies, and especially taking pictures the only thing it isn't good at is being a phone. It continuously drops calls or simply cannot connect to Verizon's service and it takes forever to send texts. As far as voice-mail is concerned i am lucky if i get them at all. yesterday a voice-mail was left for me around 4pm and i received it today at 345pm. This is my second Samsung galaxy as Verizon wont let me trade it in for another phone and continuously insist that i get a refurbished phone to make sure it isn't mine that is having the issue. This is phone two, next week i should get phone 3. After phone three i am going to the better business bureau and the attorney general as here in Massachusetts after 3 of the same product they are required by law to allow you to trade in for something different. I also used this phone in Washington D.C. and had zero issues. Its obviously just an issue when you attempt to use this phone outside the city. City dwellers buy this phone, everyone else skip it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

rpd004 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon):

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I really wanted to like this phone ... At this time of writing it has Android v4.0.4 ... aka "Ice Cream Sandwhich".

Pros
- Specs were incredible against its competitors (has SD card slot, removable battery, screen display, etc.......)
- Beautiful BIG screen, easy to use, setup, & navigate

Cons
(in order of most importance)
1 - Battery life was terrible! I sent ~25 text messages, 15 minutes of talk time, and 15 minutes of apps (facebook, twitter) which included general Internet usage and on a full charge that afternoon I had only 20% battery life remaining. Just imagine if I would have used more!
2 - Voice coverage quality was WORSE than my Verizon BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330. WOW! Does that not speak volumes to you? I was averaging 1 dropped phone call a year. In the 1 week I had this phone I had at least 1 a day.
3 - Swype and auto-correct are not that great on S3
4 - Quit asking me if I want to join a WIFI network while on 4G LTE. Really??
5 - Adding MS Exchange to the phone felt like it was an after-thought. Hardly any customizations, emails wouldn't fully download or would only download partial of the text. Very disappointed for Corporate email users
6 - Owning an Otterbox with the phone felt like the device was like a mini-Phablet. It was nice, but do I really have to lug this thing around?
7 - I like you Verizon, but remove the bloat (pre-loaded software). I can't even uninstall this.
8 - Halfway typing a text message all of a sudden the brightness on the screen would dim out. Weird? And then seconds later it would come on full blast again while I'm typing. (bug on ICS I believe).

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

And this phone is awful in that department. That's what I get for buying cheap plastic Android phones. No one to blame buy myself.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

jerseygeorge submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon):

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

I took my daughter shopping for an Iphone. Not surprisingly she fell in love with the Samsung and walked out the door with it. Overall she was quite happy with the phone except for very poor battery life.

Shortly I was due for an upgrade and chose the SIII also based on reviews, my daughters impression of the phone, and my preference for Android.

Today my third phone is on the way via UPS. When it gets here it will go on EBAY immediately.

Phone one, totally my bad. I dropped it within an hour of getting it while setting it up. Cracked screen. Glad I had Insurance. A week or two later and $100 out of pocket new phone arrives. But one big issue. Now that the phone came from Assurion Insurance, not Verizon, I can no longer get customer support from Assurion.

So phone number two has some WIFI issues. The biggest issue is that when you put the phone in airplane mode, it will turn on wifi all by itself! It is quite predictable. Put in airplane mode, turn off bluetooth (airplane mode does not turn off bluetooth), go to settings and ensure all are turned off, then go to bed.

When you wake up in the morning there are notifications of e-mail, and wifi is on in the notification bar! But when you go to settings wifi is turned off!

Call Samsung. Never heard of problem. Call Verizon. Have to talk to Assurion. Talk to Assurion, "never heard of that problem, but we will send you a new phone". Of course if you google the issue you can discover it is a known issue on various message boards.

It does other strange things with WIFI. Turn Wifi off and if you are in a location with a WIFI signal it will repeatedly tell you there is WIFI. Even though it is not a public WIFI and you do not have the rights to log onto the network. And the point is, I turned WIFI off, why is the phone continually checking for WIFI???

My biggest complaint though is that because I went from Verizon to Assurion I have lost the support of Verizon.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

nok610 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon):

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

The phone is great, battery life, display, form factor are all fantastic. I would have given a 5 star review if it weren't for the bugs. Drive mode doesn't work for me at all. Tried everything I could to get it to work, even load my contact information on to my phone instead of syncing from google. Still a no go.

But my biggest gripe with the phone is when I send text messages. My messages fail to send and shortly after kicks me off the network and "no SIM" message pops up on the taskbar. It's an issue that seems to be plaguing a decent amount of users. Verizon claims Samsung is working on a update since it's a new phone, and with new phones, bugs are common. Whatever the case may be, it's an issue that needs to be resolved.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Otrebla submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon):

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

We had our phones for about two weeks now. The Motorola Razor Maxx was the other alternative.

We found the display size and resolution to be a winning attribute but for a different reason most would. The ease of use of the virtual keyboard was fantastic. The size is visibly thing and not to big for our view. Still fits in a shirt pocket and easy to carry.

Battery seems to have a some stain holding its charge. Not sure if this is an improvement or it is just new but it is definitely better than other phones. Noticeable is the quick charging time and hold power time.

The Chrome browser works better than the computer version without any signs of slowing down or crashing with the adobe flash player.

The speed and navigation between Apps is a lot better. Maybe the processor upgrade or the LTE network speed.

Noticeable improvement with the 8M Pixel camera. Pictures and video are crisp and clear. New feature to view pictures as tiles rotating from the background is really hot.

The upgrade to this phone require us to give up our unlimited plan. Verizon is offering a 2Gig data plan per phone and sells 4, 6, 8. This could be costly if you use your phone for watching movies as they use about 1Gig of data.

For the first time, we purchased our phone through Costco at the same price as the Verizon store. Sales tax on the phone at Costco is based on the 199 price at Verizon is based on retail price of $699. Costco provides a leather case, screen protectors, and car charger kit. So we saved on accessories and taxes.

No negatives that I can think off so far. Versions of Apps works better than expected.

Overall experience has been great. We are simple users, but feel more productive using this versions calendar, notes, text, and browser thus we rated it five stars.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

See needed and upgrade from her Samsung Fascinate. It was a good phone but this phone just does circles. It has amazing picture quality the size and awesome and the weight isn't so bad. I played with the phone and has a lot of amazing features. The T9 really ticked me off that I had to turn that off. Make sure that you TURN OFF T9. The only problem with this phone is that the battery doesn't last that long. Make sure if you get this phone to carry your charger with you at all times. Overall really happy with the phone...

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

chadbordes submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon):

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

This phone is as close to perfect as possible. I had a few hiccups the first few days I had it. I had to do resets but now everything downloads right back to the phone. I love the over intuitiveness of this phone like when I am texting someone and the conversation gets long, I can hold the phone up to my face and the phone will call, Or i can palm swipe the screen to do a screen capture.

Overall its a great phone. Screen isn't as bright as many of the reviews claim (outdoors). You will have to take your glasses off to see it.

I am looking forward to the update so that I can bring this phone to Monaco with me.

Great photos and super clear phone calls. It does what a phone is supposed to do and it does it well. Great job Samsung.

** Disclaimer**: I do not work for any of the major networks, nor am i employed by samsung in any capacity.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

mainframe submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon):

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

I had an AT&T Samsung Infuse. It was the best phone in the world. I loved the UI. The text prediction was the best ever. The sound levels were great. The screen was big and bright. The AT&T network is the worst ever, however. So I switched to Verizon and got a RAZR. I waited with great anticipation for the Samsung Galaxy s3 to be released and I purchased one right away.
Here is what I can say about it. Compared to the Infuse the only thing I like is the big bright screen. The text prediction is the worst every. For example.. I have to type w-e-d-n-e-s-d before it will realize I'm trying to spell wednesday. I try to type 'shirt' and it changes it to 'shot' or 'short' all the time. It loves to make up words like 'bix' instead of 'box' even though I type 'b-o-x'. I could go on with the text/t9/word prediction forever because I have 10 diff emails and text and facebook linked to this phone so I'm always typing and thus, always fighting with the retarded updated word prediction.
Pandora will not restore if you take a phone call while listening to it. You have to unplug your headphones and plug them back in to get pandora to play. OR.. it plays at full volume through the phone call.. nice!
I have had to do 2 factory resets at the request of Verizon tech help and now they are sending me a new phone because it wont vibrate ever.
I wont get a signal in my home, work, or where I grocery shop. My RAZR always had 4G. Samsung is real 'choppy' sounding and eventually cuts out. Or phone will ring and then when you answer the signal drops to nothing. Bad Radio??? Yes. The new way to get apps and bookmarks on home screens is slow and takes forever. I expected the phone to be quicker but it feels slower than my RAZR (and I'm not a moto fan) I love samsung devices but this one misses the mark entirely. It is light and thin in your pocket, I like that. Takes great pics. IMO battery life is awesome. Phone NEEDS a case.. too slippery w/o a case. Very dissapointed.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I never bought cases for my phones in the past, however I needed one with the SG3.

The battery is fine. For the most part lasts the whole day.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

avdub1 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon):

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

Everything about this phone is exactly what I dreamed of. The screen, the fluidity, the speed, everything. But if I really want to use it as a phone (yes, I still place phone calls), I might as well forget it. Two phones and three SIM cards later, I can only make calls about 40% of the time. More often than not, I get a NO SIM error, and loss of mobile network. The phone will show full bars of service...but immediately after placing a call or attempting to send a text, the phone drops out of service & says "NO SIM". I just switched to Verizon from Sprint after 12 years, and so far I'm very unhappy. I just don't know what to do. I don't want to "downgrade", so to speak, so we'll see if Samsung comes out with a fix. For now, I strongly recommend you steer clear of this phone - that is, if you rely on the phone for calls or SMS.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

klinger1108 submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon):

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I've had every high end android phone and I must say I'm impressed with this one. I've had it for 2 weeks and the only con I can find so far is the occasional dropped call. As with most Samsung devices it seems like they have a little trouble maintaining a strong signal. After the galaxy nexus I swore I'd never buy another Samsung device. I've read a lot online about this device and decided to take the plunge. I paid retail for the phone, $600, and have no regrets. Simply put its got the biggest and best display, excellent camera, and the best all around package. I don't know why people are complaining about the battery. I'm a moderate to heavy user and I have no problem getting 16 hours on a single charge. The customization of this device is the best I've seen yet. For those who didn't give this device a fair try, at least a week, SHAME ON YOU. Do your homework kids!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

KeepNTouch submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon):

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I started with the RAZR MAXX. There was some hiccup with the ICS update and after 3 resets there were still software hiccups. I exchanged the MAXX for the S3 and I'm thankful for the decision. The biggest benefit of the MAXX was the battery, but after the ICS update the appeal was lost. The MAXX has a sturdy build, but most of it's features (not all) is the same thing you were looking at with the Droid X/X2. The S3 feels like a "current" high end device.

I like the size of the S3, for it to have such a large screen it's NOT that much larger than the MAXX. The resolution is beautiful, the audio quality is excellent and the S3 can hold it's own with Beats Audio.

The gestures make this a game changer for me, the nature inspired ring tones are a welcome change. TouchWhiz - I've always liked it, so I still like it.
Battery - I get 14 hours of somewhat heavy use. The HTC One series and the S3 line up are game changers.

PRO CON
Screen Size Design is boring
Resolution Plastic Materials
Audio Quality
Battery
Gorilla Glass
Gestures
SVoice (but android has had Google Voice for 2 yrs)
Slim
Swype On Board
Fast
Camera

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

This phone has the worst RF performance of any that I've ever used.

The screen is outstanding and the data is fine. My only problem is I need my smartphone to consistent work as a phone to make and receive voice calls.

I've been a Verizon customer for many years and literally never dropped a call until I got this phone. Now I routinely drop calls, and the display goes to "searching" with the circle and line through it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

charlienyc submitted this review of the Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon):

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

I needed to upgrade my Droid X and was caught between the S3 and the RAZR MAXX. I had the X for 2 years. It's a great phone, but I thought I'd try a Samsung for a change. Well I went with the S3 and the change was welcomed. It's got new and attractive styling, different ringtones, new OS, and decent-sounding headphones are included in the box! It's also thin and fits the hand well.

However, I got the phone back home and that's when the problems started. My summer apartment is a basement apartment in an area that's already iffy with signal. You either have Verizon or AT&T, or you have no signal most of the time. Anyway the signal strength was low and my calls were getting dropped constantly. One call to my girl turned into 7-8 calls, each with more frustration that the last! Previously calls on the X faded to the point where the person I was speaking to and I could barely hear each other BUT the calls never dropped. I called my girl from work and walked into a known dead zone. The S3 immediately dropped the call. Again, the X would have held on, if only by a thread. To make matters worse, I had a dropped call in a place where there's plenty of signal. I think I may have bumped the power button, which is pretty easy to do on this phone. Why would a phone 2 years newer have less signal strength? I chalk it up to different manufacturers, since my girl's HTC gets 1 bar back home, when my X gets 3-4.

I also had issues with the keyboard. Samsung does not natively support Swype. This might not affect you. I'm definitely a Swyper, though. Not being able to get text into a keyboard fast is bad news. I tried Go keyboard and Swype beta and maybe Go would have been fine after a few weeks. With the signal problems, however, I clearly needed to return the phone and get the MAXX.

Pros: styling, size & weight, voice call quality (Samsung's got this!), camera
"Mehs": battery life, Samsung's UI, power button location
Cons: signal strength, no Swype

I got the MAXX and love it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
