guidomelcor submitted this review of the HTC EVO V 4G / EVO 3D (CDMA):

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I have had this phone since it was introduced by Virgin Mobile and it has been very reliable.
PROs
Great screen
Adequate memory
Able to run Flash
Very Fast
Good camera
Good Audio Quality Virgin Mobile Boston area.
3D feature, although not a lot of material, is
quite amazing. YouTube has some 3D videos that
can really show its capabilities

CONs
Battery life not so great, but it's on par for competitive
smartphones
Android OS cannot be upgraded but that's maybe a good thing.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

iSmart submitted this review of the HTC EVO V 4G / EVO 3D (CDMA):

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

This is a very good phone that I think was discontinued too early. It came out 2 years ago and it can still pretty much hold a candle to middle-high end smartphones.

Pro:
-Speed, with a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm snapdragon that is running on dual core, going thru apps is not a problem.

- Battery life is great getting through about 17+ hours on a full charge, and that's with Twitter, text, web surfing, email and YouTube going throughout the day.

-reception on this phone is very good, I'm running off the sprint network and I have 4-5 bars consistently.

- solid construction, it has some weight to it without feeling like I have a dumbbell in my hand and without it being super bulky.

Cons: I only have two big problems with this phone
1. The speaker stinks soo bad, it too low and when its too low on videos and the ringer and notifications are loud and sound like the speaker is busted.

2. The power button is really awkward, to me it doesn't stick out far enough and is too flush with the top so you go to press it and think you are but aren't.

Besides those two things, really great phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

anf2374 submitted this review of the HTC EVO V 4G / EVO 3D (CDMA):

Overall rating: 1 (out of 5)

I bought this phone from Radio Shack a few days ago. The screen was crooked near the lower right corner (extra space if you look closely). I exchanged it for another one; on the 2nd phone, the screen seemed more center, but I found another defect... a bright white speck of light coming through the black area around the capacitive buttons. Needless to say, I've been very unhappy with the overall quality, especially considering it's $300. Not only that, but I found that there are numerous incompatibilities with Android 4.0. Font text can be off in some apps, on other apps certain features just don't work, or are not even showing as available when they should.

4G is a GIMMICK. 3D is also a GIMMICK. To get 4G you pretty much have to be outside, and go through the process of searching for signal... hope you can get one, even in areas that show 4G as available. Not only that, 4G also drains the battery more. The 3D feature makes my eyes go absolutely bonkers... it's almost like looking through an old-fashioned 3D book of some sort with many horizontal lines.

While the screen is bigger (4.3" vs. Triumph's 4.1"), it is only longer, and actually LESS wide, giving the illusion of almost a smaller screen. The enhanced resolution is nice, but makes the screen harder to read (everything appears smaller). Voice quality on calls is good. The speakerphone isn't loud, neither are any of the ring tones, or otherwise. In short, the speakerphone sucks! The phone is also thicker and more bulky... and you're going to want a case to protect it... even adding more thickness and weight.

I returned the 2nd unit today for a REFUND.

I'm going back to the my Motorola TRIUMPH!!! Yes, the Triumph has it's glitches, but still I'm satisifed with everything else about it... a perfectly centered screen, thin body, Rocketfish TPU case (smoke color). Clean installation of 2.2 Android. And if you have a Triumph, I recommend the following programs: Extended Controls, Go Launcher EX, Juice Defender.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

octoarms submitted this review of the HTC EVO V 4G / EVO 3D (CDMA):

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

PRO-Zippy, very responsive, 4G WiMAX
CON-Sence, come on it 2.3 do we really need a custom UI?, Battery! My phone is rooted and I have it under-clocked to save battery when the screen is off and memory optimizer, if I get a day, I'm lucky. Hot, if you like to use your phone as a phone, make it short, it gets uncomfortable to hold due to the heat. my biggest gripe QUALITY. There is none, my phone has a mind of its own, if you're done talking and the screen was locked, not anymore it's not, full access not needing your code, it likes to randomly not work on the touch, or it receives a ghost signal and the phone does its own thing so you can't do anything, it just vibrates like you're touching the bottom buttons though you're not.Or what about when you unlock it and just hangs so you have to shut the screen off. Have fun replacing the glass if it breaks.

I'm to the point I don't give a darn about this phone. I really hate it, I just want to smash it and be done with it. Do yourself a favor AVOID this heap if you plan on having it for a year, bought 7/2011, this posted 4/2012. I don't treat my phone like poo, there is no water damage, it's in a rubber bumper. I treat it well, and it treats me poor.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

And to be blunt, I love Android. With the EVO 3D, it unwraps a whole new animal with HTC. The revised UI with sense 3.0 is amazingly fast, responsive, and even for me can easily keep up. While the camera's major highlight is it's 3D functionality, I primarily use the standard mode. The battery is pretty quintetck to drain, but turning your background data off helps immensely with that. All around, I feel it's a good buy.

pros:
Fast snapdragon processor (much better then it's predecessor)
Revised Sense UI.
Lighter!

Cons:
Battery life.
Loss of hdmi

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It is so fast it, blew me away the first day. The 3D pictures, movies and games are great.

Pro's
- *1.2 GHZ Dual Core Snapdragon Processor (Amazing)
- Large 4.3" touch screen
- 3D model
- 1gb Ram
- Very Attractive Phone
- Feels Great in Hand

Con's
- A little big for my gf ( but she is very small) Its perfect for me.
_ None besides that :)

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Sense 3.0 is a huge improvement, better battery life, better screen, better camera, more fluid (no hesitation), slightly thinner than the Evo 4G.

Pros: Camera/build/more options in the music player/dedicated camera button/improved battery

Cons: could still be a little thinner

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Don't get me wrong, it is cool but is not the best part of this phone.

Cons:
-Hardware design is not nearly as well designed as the original Evo. The 3d feels a tad cheaper.
-The charger port on the side is somewhat awkward but you get used to it.
-The battery life is WAAAAAY better than the original Evo which I had 2 charge 3-4 times a day. The 3d will last me nearly all day.
- The signal reception is a little worse than what I'm used to.
All these cons are very minor compared to some phones I have had.

Pros:
- The processor is FAST!
- 3d is a cool thing to show off to friends.
- Camera is high quality and works well.
- Android OS is still the best.
- Everything else is a PRO..... this phone is great!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

btimberlake submitted this review of the HTC EVO V 4G / EVO 3D (CDMA):

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I've had this phone for about a month now and its my first Android phone and so far I love it. The 3d camera is awesome and impressive. I upgraded from the Instinct HD which I thought was sweet at one time but the Evo 3d is so much nicer than the Instinct line.

I know everyone complains about the battery life but where I live at during the school year I roam so but even roaming my battery life wasn't too terribly bad until I installed an app called Lookout. Lookout has drained my battery worse than roaming and talking on it did. I was hoping for/thought the SD card was going to be 16 GB instead of 8.

Here are my pros and cons on this phone.
Pro:

Awesome camera. I love how you can switch between 2d and 3d
Pictures send a lot quicker/the gallery of all my pics and videos loads quicker than the first Instinct I had (the original one) and the HD one.

Love the Android Market

I guess its because of the 3g (no 4g in my area) but even though I roam texts I can send and receive texts with no problems.

Cons:
I was a little disappointed that the phone didn't come with headphones. Even the Instinct HD came with headphones and an SD card adapter.

Bigger SD card. I have less than 10 aps, not a lot of pics taken, only two videos yet the space on the card is more than half way filled.

Text message ring tones that are on the phone already: just a quick sound. I wish it was a longer tone.

No software for this phone came with it (maybe this is normal, I dont know though) but my Windows XP computer can only charge the phone and when I tried using it on a Windows 7 computer I had trouble transferring stuff.

Not all my music that I had transferred over when I tried. This might be my fault, not sure.

I think it would have been cooler to have dual 8 mega pixel camera

Radio Shack had this phone for $100 so I got Best Buy to price match. I was debating over this or saving up for the new IPhone but glad I chose the Evo 3d. So far its the best phone I've ever had!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

VRFRANK12 submitted this review of the HTC EVO V 4G / EVO 3D (CDMA):

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

I have no words to describe how impressed i am with my Evo 3D. every aspect of this phone works above and beyond my expectations. The menus, the applications, the speed, the clarity and quality of the images of everything you see on screen has no flaws. Netflix and blockbuster movies with the htc mlh adapter play in full hd glory on the big screen. 3 weeks ago when i went to upgrade my Evo 4G i spent 2 hrs at the store playing with both phones, the Evo 3D and the samsung epic touch 4g galaxy 2 and it was a tough decition, but I'm happy i picked the evo 3d because despite popular belief, it does everything the samsung epic touch 4g galaxy 2 does and more and no GLITCHES.

The only con is the battery life but that's the way it is with every high end phone and compare to the evo 4g is a vast improvement.

So, there you have it. next time i would like to see pc like docking capabilities (like the motorola photon) and international radios with a sim card to be able to use it out of the country when i travel.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The phone is trying to do more than it can handle. It constantly heats up and the bettery life is probably the worst for any android phone. The 3D pics on this phone don't even work. It was a complete waste of money and I advise everyone to not waste your hard earned money on this phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

nlagazzi submitted this review of the HTC EVO V 4G / EVO 3D (CDMA):

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

I know the first complaint people have about this phone is the battery life. You can't expect much from a battery when you have such a large multifunctional phone with a large display and the handset be so thin. But, the battery life will keep me from ever buying another Android phone until they make substantial improvements. Next I am at a total loss to understand the excitement over the android OS. It is the most buggy OS I have had in a phone. I think the Palm OS I had in my Treo 700 was more refined than Gingerbread. It is almost like a group of entry level programmers developed the Android OS. It has been out for over 4 years and the issues I encounter seem to me should have been addressed on the 1st update. No more Android for me but there are plenty of happy customers out there that will make up for me. Waiting for the iPhone for Sprint.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

sether submitted this review of the HTC EVO V 4G / EVO 3D (CDMA):

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Don't buy the EVO 3D simply because it has a three-dimensional stereoscopic display; buy it because it has a dual-core CPU, 4.3" qHD screen, 1GB of RAM, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 4G WiMAX data, and HTC Sense 3.0. Too many people dismiss the EVO 3D as a "gimmick" because of the parallax-barrier 3D display but forget that even without the 3D functionality, it's still the best phone on the market. Do not be fooled like so many have.

I can fill this review with praise for HTC for releasing such a phenomenal product but instead I'll actually focus on the cons of the EVO 3D. Listing "pros" would be too easy:

CONS
-A bit too much pre-loaded software that can't be removed (though some of it can)
-Notification bar must be slid down entirely in order to view all notifications (this problem does not plague stock Android builds; it is Sense-specific)
-Carousel effect on the homescreen can't be disabled unless you use an alternative launcher
-Google Talk still cannot do video chat even with OTA update to Android 2.3.4
-No kickstand
-Sprint 3G is unacceptably slow for a superphone such as the EVO 3D; Sprint 4G coverage is still lacking in some areas

I was tempted to list battery life as a con, but in actuality it is not. All smartphones have terrible battery life and the EVO 3D is actually not that bad, relatively speaking.

OTA update 2.08.651.2 fixes a number of issues and adds some cool functionality like taking screenshots (hold power while pressing home) and updating Swype. Hopefully we'll get Ice Cream Sandwich when it releases later this year but even without it, the EVO 3D is still the best phone I can think of to date. Perhaps the Samsung Galaxy S II, iPhone 5, or Nexus Prime will challenge that, but if you want the best phone *now* you can't go wrong with the EVO 3D.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

They both have Android 2.3 (a glitchy OS)

PROS: better camera shutter speed, 3D, better screen, slightly noticeably faster than the Evo 4G

CONS:3days old and im experiencing>>>Weaker antenna signal than Evo4G, many apps force closes, reboots on its own, speaker sux, horrible battery life, camera button is in an awkward area, touch qwerty keyboard sucks, feels thicker than Evo 4G,

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

breonhowe submitted this review of the HTC EVO V 4G / EVO 3D (CDMA):

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

HTC EVO 4G was the best phone I very carried. WAS the best until the EVO 3D came out. I work as an indirect dealer so I sell AT&T, Verizon and Sprint and carry a phone on each carrier. I carry the Droid X on Verizon, HAD the iPhone 4 on AT&T until I switched up to the Samsung Infuse, and now carry the EVO 3D on Sprint. By far the EVO 3D is the superior phone!
Pros:
Battery life is better, if you have carried any Android/WebOS/Windows Mobile phone you are use to battery being an issue, with the new processor in the EVO 3D my battery is better, not the BEST but it is better
Screen: Crisp, clear, vibrant screen. The phone feels small until you watch a movie and realize how big the screen actually is.
Processor: Dual-Core 1.2Ghz... need i say more
Android 2.3: Runs like a dream!
Root: Full root is available and is easy to apply
Camera: Fast and great pictures. 3D is fun to play with but I mostly use 2D.

Cons:
No kickstand... really, HTC? I miss that about my EVO
Changing Screens: I try to go to the next screen over and the phone ends up cycling through all seven screens on me. Annoying but mostly user error.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

bound4wb submitted this review of the HTC EVO V 4G / EVO 3D (CDMA):

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

The ONLY thing I can see that might have made it the very best Android phone available would have been an 8MP camera. That said, the camera on it is adequate and there is enough that HTC/Sprint did perfectly that I am not going to complain.

Pros:
--This phone is blazing fast.
--Screen resolution is beautiful - it is the closest phone to rival the retina display that Apple likes to brag about on their iPhone 4. It's only a few pixels off from their resolution. It is very crisp.
--The screen size is perfect.
--Sense 3.0 is awesome.
--Call quality and sound is fantastic.
--3D photos may be gimmicky but they are cool and they will impress your friends :)

Cons:
I think I have felt this way about all Android phones I have owned and that is battery life. I'm not sure why they can't figure out a way to make better batteries for these hi-res, data heavy phones. That said, it is no worse than any other Android device I have owned.

I came from the T-Mobile G2x and while there are things I loved about that phone like its form factor, the vanilla OS (though I am getting used to sense now and I really like it), and the ability to take screenshots by pressing the power and home buttons, this one still kills it in a side by side comparison.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
