troybuilt submitted this review of the Motorola Q9m / Q9c:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

Personally this is a good phone. I've had it for a few years from verizon. Had the regular Q then migrated to the Q9m then Q9c.

I've had the Q9 series on both phones replaced several times due to soft keys making popping noises after a month of owning it.

Another issue with this phone is the lag/freezing especially while trying to take a picture it will never be a quick shot with this phone. by the time the picture is taken you see nothing but motion blur. I've been to the everythingq site and done the hacks and it does not fix the issues. Windows Mobile 6.0 - 6.1 will always be a laggy freezing OS until these manufactures figure out that more processing speed and ram is needed to make the OS run efficiently.

Another issue i have with this phone is the speakers "stereo speakers" they sound great and makes music and anything audio sound good quality without hearing cracking noises in the speakers but eventually you will hear it and the volume level for both media and ring tones isn't very loud as most phones today are.

All in all it's been a good phone despite the problems it does have. Motorola and the rest of these companies needs to make phones with better speed and ram and more internal memory to make these phones great and the customers will keep buying from them and not losing money on exchanges because they want to save money on making them.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

whoswanda submitted this review of the Motorola Q9m / Q9c:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

I've had the device six months and had no issues. I use it for business, mostly for email from exchange server. Since I've not used a touch screen phone, don't miss it.

Pros: good touch to key board; easy to set up and navigate; love being able to update contacts, calendars & email straight from the server w/o having to sync.

Cons: wish battery would last more than 24 hours

I've found that if I turn it off an a regular basis I don't have any problems with freezing or locking up. Seems most people never turn off their devices, and really it's like a mini- pc and needs to be rebooted.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It continually locked up and had to remove battery to restart. My new one has shut it self off 3 times for no reason. And now my internal memory is full and the only extra on it is my Google maps. None of the reviews I have read have mentioned a memory problem. So is this a problem only I am experiencing or does anyone else have it too?

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It's all in how the phone is used or the settings with regards to Text Messaging.
Fix the problem and you might actually like this phone.

Those that experience these problems most likely have their text messaging settings set-up to memorize words/phrases. Turn this setting off and clear the existing memorized history and your phone will be cured!

I hated this phone until I did this fix...

Check it out:
www.everythingq.com/forum/moto-q-9c/odd-q9c-freezing-lagging-issues-16539-6.html

Good Luck!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Let's Begin...

PRO'S
-----
+ Best QWERTY keyboard ever.
+ Battery life is phenomenal.
+ Windows LIVE Search is amazing!
+ Speakerphone is great.
+ MiniSD slot.
+ Supports SDIO.
+ 1.3mp camera w/flash.
+ Bluetooth.
+ Light sensor.
+ Threaded TXT messages.

CON'S
-----
- No WiFi.
- The phone lags.
- PIC messages are a hassle.
- Extended battery makes it bulky.

When I got the phone from Sprint, it had Windows Mobile 6.0, but later updated to 6.1 which fixed those minor bugs. You can't send PIC messages directly, must send it as an email.

I highly recommend to get unlimited data when purchasing this phone, b/c without it, the phone features won't shine.

Overall Rating: 4/5

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

The applications work all well and dandy until about a month of having the phone. It just seems that the phone wanted to stop. The battery life is horrible and the speakers on the back have quit. It tends to stop vibrating at times and you cant have a custom ringtone as your text MSG, because it just continues to play the whole thing no matter if you pick it up or not. Also when I'm typing MSG my phone cannot keep up with my typing ill press send with it not even half way typed. I think that this phone is a piece and should never be used by anyone thats my personal opinion, but others may thing other wise. My opinion i can have it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

StefanyDoke submitted this review of the Motorola Q9m / Q9c:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

I recently bought a Q9c for my work phone, I work for Alltel and absolutely love this phone. I find other reviews quite harsh actually! I haven't had any problems with my Q9c, the only draw back I have found yet is with the texting. I guess I just type on it too fast for it to keep up. And it has frozen a few times. But other than that and overall great phone, for my first smart phone.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

It lagged the time didn't update I couldn't hear anything when making or receiving phone calls. Text messages were out of the question. I could receive email but not send them. Taking the battery out only unfroze it long enough to restart. I was lucky enough to get a disk cleaning program on it and run it, along with a ram free up. The these along with a soft restart fixed my phone for five minutes. So I replaced it through sprint insurance because that was my only option. After a 50$ deductible and 3 month I am having the same problems. I have done research on the web and multiple people have the exact dame problems this phone is a defective piece of crap and I am currently fight with sprint to give me a new phone. Cause this this is a 300$ piece of crap. (to be nice about it )

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

CadetChip submitted this review of the Motorola Q9m / Q9c:

Overall rating: 0 (out of 5)

Worst phone ever made. Slower than a pack of grannies with broken hips, even the simplest of functions such as the calculator take over a minute to complete. trying to make a phone call, i type in the first number and that alone takes 30-40 seconds to even appear on the screen.

The entire reason the device was created, to call another telephone, barely even works half the time. i type in a number, press the green send button, and it just looks at me like a confused three year old with a particle physics textbook, "what am i supposed to do with this?!"

Texting, oh boy. every single text i send frustrates me eve more. after the first few characters, the rest of the characters disappear into "motorola fairy land" and by that i mean i'm typing them, and they are there, i just can't see them anymore. (motor ) see, annoying isn't it?

I've been told to go to motorola or verizon's tech support, which i have. both of which told me that the phone is operating just fine and nothing is wrong with it. so apparently motorola has sought to create a phone who's sole purpose is to breed a level of anger never seen by man, one capable of tearing the universe in half. they have succeeded, hold on everyone, this is gonna be a bumpy ride.

if you're looking to buy this phone or anything else made my motorola, do yourself a favor, RUN. run as fast as you can and as far as you can. when you think you can't run anymore, when you think your legs are gonna fall off and your lungs are going to jump out of your chest, run 10 more feet. hopefully you will find yourself in the happy and gleeful lands of LG or Blackberry.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Here is a quick summary of it...
=PROS=
-very nice keypad
-big screen
-fast texting
-I like how easy it is to start calls and messages by just starting to type the name.

=CONS=
-gets a little slow when running multiple programs
-hits buttons in your pocket, and keylocking everytime starts to get annoying

about a month ago i updated it to the Q9c software, and now it runs much better. The threaded SMS helps a lot, and there isn't so much worthless media software on there.

If you want a smart phone, I would really recommend this one!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I wasn't interested in a blackberry so this was the perfect fit for me. However I had to take this phone back 3 times because the phone froze up. Yes, 3 times. When the phone worked, it was great. It worked for 1 day the first time...4 days the 2nd time & for a month & a half the 3rd time. Verizon said that the problem was due to software, but 3 times with one user seems more than small problem. After hours of frustration and losing all my contacts, I have purchased the Blackberry Curve 8330. I'm getting used to it but I'll be happy as long as it doesn't freeze up on me...

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

peastvold submitted this review of the Motorola Q9m / Q9c:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

Hello,
I have the q9m and I am actually quite happy with it, but there are things that could be somewhat better. The ONLY difference between the q9m and the q9c is that the q9c has GPS capability.

Pros:
-Windows OS 6 provides a good collection of program options for whatever your needs are.
-Laptop tether option is great for getting internet on your laptop wherever there is not Wi-Fi (also makes it so you don't have to buy an aircard, just use your phone for the modem instead).
-I got a Nintendo emulator to work on it, as well as Doom... Yay!
-Syncs with your Outlook through the net for awesome features keeping your email, contacts, and tasks the same on your PC and phone, provided you have an exchange server.
I think the keyboard is good, but someone with non-dexterous fingers may disagree.
-Phone automatically splits TXTs into multiple messages if they get too big.

Cons:
-When you get a bunch of apps running, you must call up the task manager to quit them. (There should be a way to close the apps while you are in them)
-If you are running an exchange server with a self made security certificate (non-Verisign etc.), you must export it from your server and import it into the phone in order to sync.
-Verizon has no upgrade for Windows Mobile to 6.1, which fixes some of the annoyances of the 6.0 OS.
-You can't make gmail, hotmail, yahoo etc. your main email that shows up on the home screen.
-Texting could be threaded.
-Video Capabilities are limited to 15fps

I may add more to this post later, if that is possible.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

z8206 submitted this review of the Motorola Q9m / Q9c:

Overall rating: 0 (out of 5)

Pros: Does as advertised, except.

Cons: Bad experience! I had the Verizon 9Qc for one day and it locked up. Took it back to Verizon and a technician performed a hard reset and gave it back to me. The next day it locked up again, so I did a hard reset. Same deal the next day, so I exchanged it for another 9Qc. Same thing with the second 9Qc. Long story short, I now have an ATT Moto Q 9h. Better features and no problem locking up. Would not recommend the Verizon 9Qc.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Rolamoto submitted this review of the Motorola Q9m / Q9c:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

Pros: Great call quality, the extended battery Sprint includes lasted me ~2 days with fairly heavy texting and moderate Internet use, the Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrade is really nice, miniSD (the memory this phone uses) is cheaper and holds more than microSD, the phone looks beautiful.

Cons: Both my dad and I bought this phone and within a week both of us had a fair amount of dust between the LCD and the plastic over it, It can get really bogged down if you don't end applications, and the delete key is in a really weird place.

Other thoughts: For a multimedia phone it really should have a 3.5mm headphone jack.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

BradQue submitted this review of the Motorola Q9m / Q9c:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

After recently receiving a Moto Q 9c (Sprint) at work and liking it, I launched out on a search for one for me. That proved difficult but finally successful.

Coming from a older Verizon Moto v710 and a TMobile Sidekick, I find the Moto Q has lots of features that I like. Some Pros include:

Ease of use and a real keypad instead of a touch screen or a slide out keypad that, while usually larger, is not as convenient or quick to access.

Setup was easy and Sprint's Customer Reps were very helpful, the activation process going without a hitch.

Straightforward setup for 3 email accounts and all worked fine from the start. As did navigation, TV, and other optional features.

Easy to sync with my Vista PC, add programs, etc. I was even able to install software that allows me to see live motion video from my home security camera. (Take that Verizon.)

Battery life with extended battery is decent.

Cons:

The darn thing is hard to find - nobody seems to be selling it anymore.

Attempts to do an online upgrade from WM 6.0 to 6.1 have been unsuccessful so far.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

I downloaded push effect by Qorefuncion and I get my email messages on the phone within seconds of when the are sent.
8) Perfect form factor..super thin, fits great in hand

Cons: (not many)
1) can be a slight lag now and then...nothing terrible
2) No GPS..but the newer q9c has it

I have no idea why some people give this phone and WM6 a bad rap. In my mind windows mobile has the best functionality and the q9m form factor is perfect.

You can have your blackberry..I will take this phone any day.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

escoe12 submitted this review of the Motorola Q9m / Q9c:

Overall rating: 0 (out of 5)

I have had this phone for about 4 months now. I am on my third one! It freezes up on me several times, it will just shut itself off whenever, and it is extremely slow considering I have everything stored on my card. The internet is actually descent. Camera is ok. It is a good phone to text on. Overall the phone is terrible, I will never buy a Motoroloa phone again, will stick with LG. If you want to phone that freezes up, turns off automatically, and if you just like to visit your local Verizon store often, then this is the phone for you!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

callways submitted this review of the Motorola Q9m / Q9c:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

I really wanted to love this phone and did for about 10 days. I had the Moto Q9m under the sprint carrier. My Q9 died on me after trying to run the internet explorer application. A little unhappy about that. I'm not to sure why it did that or what i was supposed to do so I took the battery out let it rest and put the battery in. When I powered it up it went as far as the Motorola screen and wold not do much more than that. I then went to the PAlm Centro which i liked a little bit better for a couple of reasons and finally the Samsung Instinct which i love.

Pros:
texting was better than originally expected
picture capturing almost instant
camera is quality
email client pretty good
superb battery life

Cons:
NO MMS kind of need that taking many pics sending straight to clients
buttons seem to wear easier than expected
extended battery made device a bit clunky

overall enjoyed the phone just wish I could of had more time with it and MMS.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
