NO Palm support for this problem, A SHAME.
Short battery life (more than 24 but less that 48 hours).

Pros: great phone and it freezes.
Cons: low battery life (even after upgrading software)
freezes, freezes, freezes

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

pcmansf submitted this review of the Palm Treo 680:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

I had this phone for 2 years now and all these years I've been looking for something better as the device constantly hangs, freezes, restarts and turns the phone off without any of my input. It is normal to press a button and wait for 1-3 seconds for the phone to react to it. Reception is very bad though I think it is ATT's, Cingular and now yet again ATT's fault. Regardless, this phone is like a democracy, the worst except for anything else out there. Its phonebook is brilliant! You can type first letters of first and last name of a person and it pull the phone number right up. Calendar is a gem! Very simple to use: you can switch from day to week to month with a press of one button. I do not use email, but a friend of my does and she says that it is unusable, a pity.

Love this phone, but will jump to anything else that will come close to its usability without hanging all the time.

Pros:
Very easy to use
Phonebook search
Calendar is great
FULL KEYBOARD
SWITCH TO VIBRATE ONLY (not a software setting)

Cons:
Freezing/hanging ALL THE TIME
Reception (ATT's fault?)

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

liteshine7 submitted this review of the Palm Treo 680:

Overall rating: 3.5 (out of 5)

I'm no phone expert, I'll start with that. I got this phone because I'm a text addict and needed to text faster than T9. I don't really use it for internet browsing, emails and such. I used it more for texting, pictures, picture messaging, calendar/appts managing, memos/notes and actually making phone calls.

Pros:

1. lots of features
2. touch screen feature was cool at first (see cons)
3. great display
4. easy to navigate
5. love the recordable ring tone feature!

Cons:

1. round text buttons make it hard to press, especially for females with nails. I was constantly making corrections. The keys should have been flat and easy to press!
2.sorta bulky and heavy, not sleek
3.display would get smudged and hard to clean around edges due to casing
4. would freeze up all the time
5. touch screen is what killed the phone. It is so sensitive! And because I dropped it, the screen cracked and the phone was useless. I'm now searching for a new one and it won't be a Treo 680!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

jdaviso1 submitted this review of the Palm Treo 680:

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

Cons:
The battery life on this phone is absolutely awful. My 680 would not last 24 hours without requiring a charge.

The Palm OS is very buggy and would crash at least once a week.

I live in an area where I do not get coverage. If my Treo went without data coverage for an extended period of time (e.g. over a weekend), once in a coverage area I would have to reset the device to get a GPRS connection again.

Pros:
Nothing beats a touch screen.

Call sound quality was good.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

chocolateman85006 submitted this review of the Palm Treo 680:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

Truth be told, I bought this phone for the sake of saying that I've had it. It's not too bad. It's much better than the 650 was, CDMA or GSM!

Like:
Reception: I gets it everywhere!
Comes with instant messaging (after download from palm.com/us.)
Not bad camera/video. It works well in the dark, unlike my 8125.
Internet Explorer.

Dislike:
Battery life sucks, but what PDA has a really good battery life.
The signature doesn't stay in the threaded SMS. It's only there on the first reply.
The E-Mail isn't as easy to set up, but am working around it.
No WMA format? What is up with that?! That blows majorly, because all of my music is mp3!

Great phone, overall. I'd choose this over the Centro.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

pastmac submitted this review of the Palm Treo 680:

Overall rating: 4.5 (out of 5)

Pros: Good reception, clear calls, easy to use, clear screen.

cons: small keys, battery could be better.

I have now had this unit for a week and so far find it a great unit over all. I travel extensivly and so far I have not had any place that I did not have a good signal in regards to the phone or the internet functions. The calls have been clear and volume quality has been very good. No dropped calls yet and my old Moto phone dropped calls almost every time I used it. The screen is bright and clear and as a windows user a little worried about the Palm O/S I have to say it took me all of about a day to get very comfortable with navigation tasks. Bluetooth setup was a snap works very well. I have just played a little with the camera and although it is not all that quality for pictures for my use it seems to do what I need ok. I know that many talk about battery life and I would agree that in the area of the battery it could be better. I do charge every night and have not run out but it is getting pretty low by the day's end. I would think that their ought to be a battery that should last a couple of days at least. The keys are a little cramped for sure. I did pretty much see that up front though and accepted the fact that I would just have to get used to that fact. I had considered the Blackberry Pearl but after trying out those keys I figured the Treo had it beat hands down. The touch screen is a certain plus and works very well. Over all after a week of use I have to say I am pleased with the unit. It sure is nice to not have to carry a PDA and a Cell Phone as well now and just do it all with the Treo! AT this point I certainly figure it is a keeper and hope that continues to be my opinion.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

zimba179 submitted this review of the Palm Treo 680:

Overall rating: 3 (out of 5)

I have to say I was so impressed with my Treo 650 that I had almost two years I had to get the newer version. Overall I am not to satisified but it's common problems I experienced with my 650, just earlier in it's life.

PROs:

speakerphone is very loud
very durable
sound quality is great

CONs:

battery life, although I was used to the 650 that was amazing life, but not making it even 24 hours without using any apps..not pleased!

completely locks up often when attempting to answer a call, especially if call waiting is used. A major pain when you have to take the battery off and wait the minute or two for it to power up and find service. It happens between 2 and 6 times a day, not good for a phone of this price thats only a month old. Very annoying and stressful especially when you use your phone ALOT!

Overall I enjoy it, just has the same old quirks of the 650, maybe a little worse! I did purschase it off ebay but it was sealed in box and Cingular(ATT) branded so can't blame the seller and it's not a refurb

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

DallasPhoneWhore submitted this review of the Palm Treo 680:

Overall rating: 2.5 (out of 5)

I had this phone for a few months. At first, it was the best thing since sliced bread. But quickly I grew to dislike the touch screen feature. And also, I'm very particular about the appearance of my phone and it was hard to keep the screen clean around the edges. I was forced to use a case with a clear front and I think that just takes away from the beauty of the phone. What's the point in having a nice phone if you cover it with a case? Also, I'm must be a tech idiot, because I could never find the right software to put on it so that I could watch movies. It was frustrating to be able to use that feature and not get it to work. Another downside was that I had to "get" new e-mails. They didn't just appear with an alert and an icon. That got annoying very quickly.

I have a Blackberry 8700c now and I love it. It doesn't have any of the problems that I had with my treo and it's not as bulky. I'd recommend a blackberry as opposed to a Treo.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Easy to sync, nice keyboard, and program layout.

You just have to hope that you get one of the rare ones that don't have to be replaced several times.

My friend had one and had similar problems and got a different brand phone as their final replacement too.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

haveheart08 submitted this review of the Palm Treo 680:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

The Palm is good for what it does, which is basically for business people, not teenagers. I got mine about a month ago and I am not pleased with it.

The phone screen annoys me with all the little tabs, and the way they address book set up annoys me as well. I also hate you have to import ringtones from third party sites. Also, I don't use the internet on the phone so all the memory for that goes to waste, instead of using it on something like pictures or texts that I do.

It hasn't had any actual problems, it's just not a good phone for me. It's actually an excellent phone if you're a big business person. But not if all you are looking for is text messaging, calling your friends, and taking pictures/videos.

I should have gone way simpler, it was my mistake. However I'm seriously looking at the Samsung Sync, i've heard good things about it.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

tanjohn4 submitted this review of the Palm Treo 680:

Overall rating: 5 (out of 5)

This phone has been nothing but reliable.Purchased about 4 months ago and was skeptical, but has proven itself to to be my top pick. Ok,the battery life could last maybe longer than a day, but what do you expect, its running the phone and pda all at the same time and other than the occasional "freeze" (just soft reset)its perfect. I recommend this phone/pda to anyone looking for something very easy to use and have a portable office at the same time.
pros:
o Battery last a full day
o Endless, endless software to choose from
o Very, Very easy to use and customer support has been great (Cingular/Palm)
o Web browsing is fast
o Can download different wallpaper and resize to fit on your phone all within the Palm software given at time of purchase
o Syncing has been flawless
Cons:
o The occasional freeze (but what phone or any piece of electronic has never had at least one glitch?)

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

kbdabraham submitted this review of the Palm Treo 680:

Overall rating: 2 (out of 5)

Well, I have 680. It is a very nice phone. Elegant design. Best keyboard among all PDA's I've tried. nice speaker phone and sound quality.

However, it resets itself when I answer calls. It does it a few times a week. Apparently, it is a known defect and a major one too. The phone application is very slow. when you answer a call, there is a delay where I am not sure if I need to press the answer button again or what?

Treo doesn't seem to care. Cingular replaced it once and probably again if I press my case. However, no fix is promised or foreseeable. I am shopping for another PDA.

Syncing with outlook is challenging. Windows-based PDA's, Nokia, and SE blow this phone when it comes for the ease and accuracy of syncing with Outlook.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

hawkintx submitted this review of the Palm Treo 680:

Overall rating: 1.5 (out of 5)

Recently switched to Cingular from Sprint in an area where Cingular is "supposed" to be the best service in town. Call quality is horrible and I'm not sure if it's the provider or the device. I've spoken with several people using Cingular with a regular phone (not a PDA) and they say the service is great, so it leads me to believe it's the device. Also an instore representative said he had experienced poor call quality with a Treo and had switched to a Blackberry and it was better. I've been using this "phone" for less than a week and I've been researching how to get it replaced since day three. I drop calls daily, much more frequently than I did on Sprint, this from the network that claims to have the fewest dropped calls. If I could get my old Sprint service back today I would do so immediately.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

frankiewawa submitted this review of the Palm Treo 680:

Overall rating: 4 (out of 5)

The Treo 680 is a great phone that offers many things that I need but not all the things that I want in a phone. Somethings that I think the phone is missing is a better mp3 player(very annoying to operate), UMTS, no built in instant messenger, and awful battery life. I have to charge my phone every night or when I wake up in the morning the phone is dead!
Overall the phone was a great improvement from the Treo 650, I'm happy that I stuck with Treo compared to a windows mobile phone. I'm hoping that sooner or later there will be some nice color covers for the phone!

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

ElizabethH submitted this review of the Palm Treo 680:

Overall rating: 0 (out of 5)

I am about to return my second Cingular Treo 680 in 10 days. I decided to purchase the Treo 680 when I lost my Treo 650 several weeks ago. I had my 650 for several years, so I have a good idea of how they should work.

In the case of the first Treo 680 I purchased from Cingular, the touch screen worked inconsistenly. Some of the "boxes" on the touch screen worked and some didn't. I took it back the next day.

In the case of the second Treo 680, the screen kept locking so that it would have to be reset (soft-by removing the battery) every day or so - but in the meantime the phone would have been "off" for who knows how long. Then yesterday, when it locked up again and I tried to do a soft reset, the Treo got "stuck" at the date/time screen. So I did a hard reset, and now it is stuck at the first "tap your stylus here" screen. So I will be returning the 680 today and purchasing a 650 online.

Otherwise, I really like the Treo 680 and wish that I could get one that worked.

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)

Its my first smartphone and I am glad I'm going this direction. All in one is the only way to go. I was torn between the BB Pearl and the 680. I think I'd be happy with both, however, both are also quite different.

PROS:
A lot of different call options. Awesome
SD slot full accessible
Touchscreen
Great signal/sound quality
Great integration with the PDA/Palm OS
Excellent intuitive buttons, only possible with a lot of experience in building PDAs.

CONS:
Battery life
no wifi... its about that time palm
heavy
Weak camera

(Follow link to rate this review or report it to us as inappropriate.)
