GREATEST I HAVE HAD

Jan 21, 2007 by hondacivic1997

i have had the new verizon 9900 and compared to this ohone, the katana is better. it doesnt have an mp3 or video, but i have an ipod, what do i need it for? and i also have a video camera, so i dont need that either.

but ill tel you one thing, people say this camera is low quality, its the best camera on a phone that i have ever had. and thats the truth.

one thing is that speaker. i have it on vibrate all the time anyway, i can notice that.

this phone is the best i have EVER had, even compared to the fancy smancy env and v. and thhe coverage is awesome.

in my school, in the building, there is never reception, but with the katana, i always have it.

so i recommend this phone for every sprint user!

Sanyo Katana & Opera Mini

Oct 5, 2006 by NateS

I am pleased with my Sanyo Katana too, and overall think it's a great phonje, but I am disappointed that I have not been able to download and install Opera Mini as drezden has.

The download site is blocked, and when I text 96077 I get a message back from mediaplazza saying it's "not available for your cellphone."

drezden said: "I installed the Opera Mini web browser right away . . ."

drezden - How did you do that?

Outstanding phone!

I have read many reviews of tech products, but have never written one before now. I felt compelled to do so for this phone because I am so thrilled with it.

I started with the Samsung A920 when I recently switched to Sprint service. Although this phone was packed with features, neither the reception, call quality nor speakerphone (the most important characteristics of a phone!) were acceptable to me. I therefore decided to exchange it for the Katana, and am so glad that I did.

If you're looking for a phone with all of the latest bells and whistles, including features that don't even belong on a phone such as an MP3 player, then don't buy the Katana. However if you're looking for a sleek and solidly constructed phone with excellent reception and speakerphone, then the Katana is definitely for you.

The camera is as good as one should expect for a cell phone. If you need better than this, buy a real camera! Effortlessly Bluetoothed contacts to and from Outlook on my laptop. Also boots up much faster than the Samsung A920.

Pros:
- form and feel
- large keypad
- brilliant display
- good battery life for a slim phone
- excellent speakerphone and reception and call quality
- simple to operate

Cons:
The only one I can think of is the lack of the Bluetooth file transfer profile. I'm not sure if this is available on any other phones for that matter. I'd like to be able to transfer pictures directly from the Katana to my laptop.

Pretty Good Phone

I agree with LeeMax (Aug 16, 2006).

Another criticism worth noting is that the bluetooth functionality is limited to contact information - NOT pictures, NOT ringtones, etc... For that you need a cable and software (~$30).

As a phone (and that's pretty much all it is), it's pretty good. If you want a camcorder/karaoke machine/shaver/phone combo look elsewhere.

Great phone

I just upgraded from the LG PM325 a few days ago, I hated that phone. And now I am happy to have Sprint service again. I use my phone mostly for texting and in that area it does superb! The reception is also great since I live in an area with not that great service from Sprint.

Pros
-Beautiful Screen
-Very customizable with settings
-camera is pretty good for a camera phone imo
-Great Reception
-Very sturdy
-Goes through menus quickly, no lag
-Good speaker phone
-Great battery life

Cons
-downloaded ringers aren't that loud
-cant set ringers to sounds & vibrate at any volume

AMAZING!!!!

Just got the blue one about 2 weeks ago from Qwest. AWESOME PHONE! Being able to bluetooth my contacts over between my phones is a HUGE plus!! Signal is awesome as is the camera!!

I use the speakerphone on a regular basis and it's more than adequate, but could be a little louder when it comes to Ringtones.

No real complaints. Let me know if you have any questions.

GREAT SIGNAL

I just purchased the Katana from sprint two days ago. I bought it because I was told it had good service. Me living in an area where Sprint isnt very good, I wanted to tri it. ( mind you, that i only have sprint because of the Mobile 2 Mobile feature with my boyfriend ) The phone works great at my house. Much better than anyother phone I had tried with sprint. I can actually move around my house and not have to stay in one spot.

Also i have used a razr for about 2 yrs now and LOVED IT. This phone is really alot like it. Same form factor and basicly the same features. Only no video camera and this phone isnt as sleek as the razr.

But other than that its GREAT!

Great Phone....but

I love the phone! Seriously! It's Awesome, but where's the digital camcorder and I think that it could have a better camera on the phone. The pics that I get sent to my phone look great, but the ones that I take with the Katanas camera look orange and horrible. Great phone overall.

yay

Katana (Sanyo 6600)

I purchased this phone to replace my Lg LX 350 that was given to me as a replacement for my LG slider. Upon first opening the package I was impressed. Being a razr user for months, I said to myself "wow this looks almost like the razr." I liked the sleek design, the camera on top, the outside screen, and how thin this phone is. I thought it was an awesome phone!

But, after using this phone for a day, I realized how unhappy I was with my purchase.

The phone is a pretty basic phone for these days. It has intergrated blue tooth, which is awesome for my car, but there is no MP3 player, no external card slot, and the camera is poor quality without a flash.

For the price of the phone, I expected it to have some more features than it did. I expected it to have some more ringtones that it has (which it has a few cheesy ringtones). The backgrounds it has are limited, and the demo games are limited. Basically, this phone is very limited. My Lg LX 350 has more features than this phone, and it was a cheap replacement.

So, if you are looking to purcahse this phone because its thin and it looks cool, then its the perfect phone for you! But, if you are a cell phone junkie like me, then you are better off spending $50 more on a phone that has more features.

Needless to say, I have called Sprint and given my phone back. I am going to try the Fusic out for a while (has a built in FM transmitter, camera with flash, external card slot, mp3 player)-- if I dont like it, then I am going back to my Lg LX 350-- can't go wrong there!!

Sprint has a 30 day return policy on their phones-- if you purcahsed this phone less than 30 days ago, you can still exchange it!!
