The Chocolate? Don't make me laugh.
If you want a phone that your kid will love for the first month or so, get this phone or any of its successors.
If you want a phone that your kid will hate after more than a month or so, will make you a repeat caller to the warranty department, and will make you want to drop VZW totally by the time you're done with it, also pick this phone up.
Why? Because the Chocolate and its successors have the worst reliability of any phone I replace as a warranty agent for VZW, besting even the EnV and the Alias.
And don't think that replacing the phone will solve the problem either.
The warehouse that refurbishes the phones that are sent as replacements has a 99.5 percent success rate at keeping those phones from having to come back through.
The Chocolate is a notable exception.
No matter what they do to the dam ned thing, it just doesn't work. I cannot tell how many times I've had a customer call in who's had five replacements sent out over a year long period. Over the past four days alone I've gotten 10 calls on Chocolates that were beyond the normal tech repair and needed to be sent back to us. At least three of the people who called on those phones had had to replace the phone at least three times.
Sure, it's a little glitzy, and the newest generation perhaps even more so. Personally, I find it unattractive (roughly the shape of a brick sliced lengthwise into two halves)and pointless. (It's basically supposed to be the Ipod of phones. It couldn't hope to be on its BEST day.)
I only give it a 1 because of its features. And that's assuming they actually WORK.
Chocolate LGVX8500 Love it
To start, i love this phone is the first slider i have and i think is amazing i like all its features, the sound is loud and clear which i have to get low the volume while I'm having a conversation, the screen colors are great, and the display of the numbers also, i find it easy to manage when I'm texting the opposite some people have said about it. i love the wheel which you can low the sensibility and also has decents tones and wallpapers, the MP3 player is one of the bests. Love the different themes, very easy to manage and access. the camera and video are good enough, is small, light and perfect for jeans back pockets don't feel bulky. well i think i do not have any negative to say about this phone. I love the style and colors mine is a black cherry which is kind of close to chocolate : ) which i love. Way to go LG perfect design sleek and chic 5/5
I HATE THIS PHONE
I hated this phone! I am stuck with this phone for another 4 months before my contract expires. Most likely, I'll have to go out and purchase a new phone pretty soon since it's been freezing on me ALOT lately. it's ridiculous.
Pros:
honestly, this phone was THIS bad. i guess the only thing i liked about it was the appearance.
Cons:
- I agree with one of the users below, its super annoying when they interrupt you with another incoming text msg while you're trying to text.
- The phone itself has little or almost no functions. Nothing to keep you entertained other than its "mp3 player"
- Speaking of the player, it sucks. Quality wise. It's okay. The speakers arent loud enough and it drains the battery like crazy.
- BATTERY SUCKS! battery charger sucks! the battery charger input(?) is so easy to "ruin" and once that's ruined. It kills your battery like this quick.
- SHORT LIVE! my first chocolate died on me after 8 months. I got the exact same phone but a new one (since i had insurance) its dying on me quite often now . it freezes up and does all kinds of weird things. and we're on the 10th month
i know this phone is old and probably not many people are looking to get this but this phone makes me lose my trust in LG.
Nearly a great phone
I've owned this phone for two years and my 2 year plan is about to expire. I've heard that for most people, it has poor battery life and you can change that by turning EVDO off. I still have two bars left after two days (w/ EVDO off) after a full charge.

Cons:
-The touch pad is too sensitive. But I like the option which you can choose the sensitivity level.
-no speaker phone, which I don't use
Overall I think that this phone is AWESOME

i've had this phone for over a year and when i first got it i enjoyed it and thought it was super cute and cool and worked just fine!
pros:
camera works great,
sounds are pretty good,
good for ring tones,
easy to txt on,
screen is colorful,
many phone options,
backlight works good,
colors of the phone are nice,
screen is large,
has good memory!!!
Cons:
At first it was kinda hard to get used to the touch pad part of the phone but otherwise it was fine at first. after about a year the problems began to occur such as:
screen turning completely white,
freezes,
colors getting messed up,
buttons will not work,
phone will get stuck half way up when slid open,
randomly calls people,
randomly pushes buttons,
shuts down on its own,
lights will randomly start going on and off,
pictures have been deleted and randomly show up again,
scratches easily,
people cant hear you and you cant hear them very well,
calls happen to be lost quit often,
continuous navigation through menu mode ( a touch button will get stuck and keep going through it),
battery sucks( had to charge it every single night!!!)
i would not recommend this phone to anyone especially if your looking for a phone that you want to keep for longer then a year!!!!

Chocolate isn't so tasty.
I hated this phone. This is my third phone, and it is broken again. I slid it open and the screen was gone, all white.
pros ::
1. looks cool.
2. alright size.
3. texting takes time to get use to.
cons ::
1. freezing
2. skipping over what you want to see in the menu.
3. music player sucks.
4. camera quality is awful.
5. speaker phone is not loud enough.
6. if there is noise around you people your talking to can't hear you well.
I could keep going but i'm going to be nice.

Good phone
this is a good phone but some things are bad about it.
Pros:
+ the maker (lg :) )
+ the camara

- the ok keys
- the side power key that was a bummer!!

Big NO
The phone was a very cool phone at first> All the hype people were making about it and the commercials made it seem like some sort of celebrity. But man did this phone fail in the reliability department. Thank god for insurance, I went through 4 of those bad boys. First one went down because i dropped down some stairs. Looked fine i tried to turn it on, nothing. 2nd one got over heated during january!in the cold, some chip in the back fried, the third the screen went white, and finally the last it was lagging in everything typing calling the gps. I was glad to move on
worst phone i have ever had.
well i have had this phone once before && i dropped it && it broke.so i got the same phone again && honestly i have to say this is the worst phone i have ever had.
