Great phone, but...

Feb 1, 2008 by mrmultimediaman

The one con...will not accept anything larger than a 1GB Micro SD card. It is frustrating after trying to get a Kingston MicroSD 2GB to work for a number of hours. Just wouldn't cut it.

Save your money on buying CD software to load songs etc. Just plug the Micro SD into your PC using Windows XP and you can access the files on the card. Just copy and delete the files you don't want. I figured this out after spending numerous hours tranfering files via bluetooth, which was a drag.

EASY TO HACK!! owners read this!

I've had a few nicer flip-phones in the past and this is easily my favorite so far.

It has advanced features, tools, a few themes, and a great feature called 'Call Reject' where you can reject ALL calls (and still view them on the log) or just the numbers that you can add/remove from the reject list.

cons: its a bit thick. if thats not a problem for you- then no worries, its a comfortable and good looking handset when open. another con- you can only upgrade the SD memory to 2 gigs. good enough for some tho..

Main reason for the review here is for those of you that already have this device. You know that annoying confirmation sound it makes when you send texts, program the calender, etc? It can be removed!

I downloaded a great tool called BitPim, which enables you view and modify the files on your cellphone, provided that you have a USB connector for it. This is great for removing ring tones that are otherwise locked into the handsets memory, as well as replacing them with your own custom sounds, videos or images.

Try googling 'hack (your cell phone make/model here)' and see what you come up with!

What a great phone!!!!!

I got this phone 12 months ago as a replacement to my MOTO RAZR. I was a little hesitant to get an LG, never really had any experiance with them and the selection at Cingular wasn't that good. I must say I have been nothing but pleased with this phone. Great mp3 player, did a great job with Cingular Media Web (great for fantasy football updates). I was never a big fan of the ascending ringtones but hey, no phone is perfect. I just love the stereo speakers. This has been the best phone that I have ever owned and I have owned alot since I used to work in the industry. Sadly my trusty and reliable CU500 has started to show the wear & tear associated with my line of work. I've enjoyed this phone so much that every other clamshell phone that I've looked in the AT&T lineup has not impressed me at all with the exception of the 575 TRAX. I've just purchase the TRAX and can only hope that it lives up to the CU500. The CU500 has been discontinued by AT&T(Cingular) and I just wanted to tell people on this site alittle bit about my experiences with this great phone, a true warrior.

Awesome phone.

Pro: Spring hinge that allows you to step on the phone when it it extended and NOT snap.
Rotating camera
good battery life
good speakers
good signal

Cons:
MP of the camera
flexibility of the hinge, just a bit to tight for my fast flipping thumb

One of the Best

First of all I would like to state that LG stands for Lucky Gold Star, not Life is Good( which is their slogan). I have worked for ATT in corporate for over 3 years now and I think the LG cu500 is one of the best phones I have used. And I have used a lot of phones. I would choose this phone over ANY moto any day. The samsumg sync is a close second though. the LG seems to be more durable from what I've found. I recommend this phone to any of my customers because it is the phone I carry and I can carry any phone we have out.

LG CU500V

May 24, 2007 by DJ Osiris

Ok, so I've had this phone for about 2 days now after Cingular/AT&T was kind enough to see my end of the deal after dealing with 3 buggy as all hell Moto V3XX's and a badly refurbished SE W810i.

Long story short, it feels really, really good to have a phone that actually performs everyday, meanial tasks without it crashing and restarting. Now, I'll admit that the CU500V is by no means the flashiest phone on the market, but it's quality product from what I can see.

Now, everyone and their mother seems to have the complaint of the asscending ringtone, well in the CU500V, it no longer asscends. It's just a straight ring. It's not the loudest ring, but it gets the job done.

In the end, I am impressed by what it is. I had no idea that LG was capable of putting out what is considered a "high end" phone. But with this quad-band, 3G, HSDPA, video call enabled phone I'd say all will be well in the world of my telecommunications issues. Now to just wait until Minneapolis becomes 3G enabled ( 2 months and counting!)

Pros :

- Phone feels solid
- No asscending ringtone ( only the alarm )
- Great Screen. very bright, very clear
- Every connention capability under the sun

Cons :

- Not the loudest ringer in the world. By no means hard to hear, but calls can get missed if you arent paying attention

- You can't assign your own message tone. Just one of the 9 pre-programed ones.

Finally, in conclusion. The CU500v is a quality piece of equipment with only minor issues that may not even affect the average person. I give it 3 thumbs up!

Yes, 3.

MicroSd Memory Limit

May 17, 2007 by godlvall2

LG has placed a limit of a 1Gb MicroSd chip on the LG CU500. I confirmed this by calling Cigular and calling LG.

The phone overall is decent, stable and fast. Only other downfall is the annoying confirm settings sound. It is possible that I would buy this phone again, but I'd shop around a little more first.

Nice, Real nice!

Great phone with a nice design, great quality

The good:
Call quality
Very cool looking
nice weight
keypad is easy to use
rotating camera takes great pictures

The not as good:
My only complaint is the location of the microsd card but I don't use everyday.

Overall, it's a really great phone and the price is super sweet.
