Would have Been a GREAT phone except...

Apr 10, 2007 by pistol44pete

Quick review

Pros:

incredible Reception by far the best of any phone i have ever owned.

great style (have had many compliments)

menu style is really simple and lots of cool options.

loud speaker and mp3 ringtones sound great as well.

call quality is great as well. my w600i i was told i had an echo in the backround and very amplified noises. no complaints yet on my w300i.

cons:

the number pad is fine, it is the other two buttons on left and right top and the navigation pad is a little small.

and the only reason i did not give this phone a perfect 5 is the camera is the worst camera i have ever used in any phone. i dont know why not put a 1.3MP, i know it is a phone and not a digtial camera but all phones now have cameras and most phones with options like this phone have now come equiped with at least a 1.3MP camera and it is worth using. they should have just left the camera out of the phone.

Awesome lil phone.

PHone has the best reception and voice clarity ive ever seen. The battery life is also the best because I dont need to recharge for 4 or 5 days. Phone also has a FM radio that plays with or without headset and good speaker for MP3 player.

Now for the cons; Im comparing it to my last phone the LG 1400. The w300 does not have the solid feel and the screen is small. Also the camera is unacceptable but if you download FACEWARP that pics are better. Overall im happy with my choice because I hate to have a phone die of energy in the middle of conversation.

Fun Phone

This is a very fun phone. Ilove the radio and mp3 player- games are okay. I don't like that you cannot change all of the hot keys. The camera is lacking and the user manual doesn't explain how to use some of the functions.

Great Phone

I bought my Sony W300i about a week ago and I love it. I gave it a 4.5 because no phone is perfect. Anyhow here are the pros and cons.

Pros.
Great Reception
Very clear sound quality.
Plenty of great features like fm radio and walkman.
Expandable memory via memory stick.

Cons.
Expandable memory is memory stick and thus proprietary to Sony.
Camera is not great just acceptable.
Not 3G just edge.

Overall this is a great phone and I admit that what I have listed as cons might be more nit picking than anything else, but like I said no phone is perfect. For the features however, you would be hard pressed to find a phone that offers what this one does at the price it does.

Great Phone

I bought four of these phones for the family. My teenagers and my wife and I are all pleased. For the price and the features you get with this phone it can't be beat. I am still amazed at the battery life. Superb sound quality and excellent reception.

Good phone with some quirks

Nov 5, 2006 by acwylam1017

This phone is definately a good phone. Why? Because sony made it and not crappy Motorola. Sony's low end compares to Motorola's high end. I work for a cellular company and i hear the complaints day in and day out from customers about Motorola. Sony's interface is so much easier to use. My mother was using a Razr i had purchased and she had trouble hearing on calls and using the phone. I gave her my extra z520 and now i get home cooked meals again.

I had the s700i and was annoyed by the fact that i could not change my sms alert. I was also annoyed by the fact that the mem card could only be used to the max of 128 mb.

I guess i needed the w300. Now i can change my alert and use a 1 gig mem stick. Phone has great clarity and is so much nicer to use with my FM modulator than my stupid Ipod and its bulky corded FM modulator. I was tired of all the techo gizmos in my pocket. Now all i have is the w300.

Pro's:
1.Not made by Motorola
2.Face plate interchangable
3.Mem upgradable
4.Walkman!!!!
5.FM radio
6.Cheap ... (i mean $20.00 with a 2 year cheap)
7.Cool swishy noise when phone opens(somewhat interchangable)
8.Keys that light up and won't mark up your phone like the V555 motorola's do
9.This battery last forever!!! Didn't have to charge it for 4 days.
10.New mem stick fits into my old laptop.

Con's
1.The camera is the suck ... ya can't have everything.
2.Can't use full mp3's as ringtones they have to be below a certain size.
3.Can't change the phone opening noise to anything but its 3 preset style.
4.Cingular preloaded it with crap that only ets in the way.
5.Headset came with it had weird earbuds.
6.People won't stop touching my phone!!!
7.Screen resolution is so so. But its a base model so you really can't complain too much.

GREAT phone

I got this phone when my old contract ended, and as this was the cheapest walkman phone i could find, it was an obvious choice.

This phone works great. The only reason i did not give it a 5 was becuase an underlying crack appeared after it was dropped ONCE. Yes, we're not supposed to drop our phones, but they're not supposed to break after one drop. We all drop our phones, and i had a friend who used to throw hers without experiencing any difficulties. Fixing it was a bit expensive, around $100 (cdn). However, as i'm on a 3 year contract, leaving it there was not an option.

Pros:
-clear reception
-palm size
-very cute
-great quality mp3
-intergrated radio
-large number of ringtones provided
-easy to navigate
-many shortcuts
-fast operation

Cons:
-a bit bulky
-fragile screen
-bad camera quality
-bubble keypad might not be liked by some
-headphones tangle very easily

LOVE IT !!!

Service: Cingular, FLA Panhandle

PROs: nice design
Great reception(my most important factor)
FM radio works great
calls are crystal clear
easy UI
EDGE
Makes a cute sound when opening phone
+many more.

CONS: Camera not bad, but not great **see below
Cingular didn't include USB, software, or any memory card for music so I'll have to buy those separately.

I replaced my Z525a (warranty exchange) and got this phone. I have been wanting it for about 8 months! It is everything I thought it would be, and more!

**For some real fun try this: Go to wap.sonyericcson.com on your phone, select applications, FaceWarp. With this program you take a picture of someone and then it warps their face with many different funny twists. Did this at school with my students-they laughed so hard!! Even did the dog!

Strange thing is: the camera view looks good but when you "capture" the picture it turns slightly fuzzy; however, when you take a picture with face warp it comes out clear! Must be a software issue! ??
